No matter if you prefer the original or the Disturbed cover, you can't deny that David Draiman got an incredible voice. My uncle gave me their second album as a christmas present the year it came out and i've loved Disturbed ever since

Yeah crazy the sad part is that you can't even tell. The only thing that sounds off is when the booth autotuned parts even after David said he did not want them to. At one point the first time you hear it you can see him looking a bit annoyed after the note. They did not think he could do certain right parts since he was sick.

    • @BBBYpsi
      @BBBYpsi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

It was auto tuned without him knowing about it also

    • @b1blancer1

@@BBBYpsi The auto tuning was minimal though, and he really did have no idea. He's adamant about not using it.

David Draiman...a voice to die for! A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime. He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful and pure tonal properties to it! An awesome talent and obvious training to deliver what he does!! Can sing like an angel or the devil ! Loved your reaction and your take on David's performance Gabbsi. Good job! Try "Deceiver", "The Night", "Indestructible", "The Light" and "Violence Fetish" by Disturbed too. They are a bit heavier....lol.....if you want another "light" one with an immaculate pure voice, try "Darkness".

I had never heard this version, the first time I heard the studio version it had less than 50 views and when I heard it I was thinking "holy crap this thing will get a million views in no time" well how many million views does it have now? Draiman is truly a unique singer, he's a heavy metal guy Ella, could be why a lot of people had never heard of him. Their usual songs are not like this but the Draiman voice is still there!

This song is AMAZING... probably the most popular reaction song E V E R !! The crazy part is this is so far from what it is that Disturbed does musically that people of any music genre were/seemed (bewildered?)! 100% of all the people that watch this video thought to themself, "What the heck am I experiencing here?" "Who is this Man?" "Where have I heard this before?" "Is this religious/spiritual in its nature?" (lol) and then once the song is over? (speaking of the sound of silence) almost all had to gather their thoughts and ponder many mixed emotions! Was this for real? How Davids phenomenal vocals were either never known to them or if known to them... What the hell this was? The sad thing was when watching the official video... many (did I say, "Many?") focused on his facial expressions and piercings; the dark imagery was intentional as well as exceptional! Was this a fluke? Not at all ...but... this was totally unexpected by the entire world of music as a whole!! ~just like Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" - these songs which are covers... are now theirs!!

    - The original is pure poetry and melancholy. Damian takes you on an epic journey!
-Draiman covers roughly two-and-a-half octaves from bottom to top. His vocals are so distinctive.
-Disturbed had been nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Rock Performance for their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" while appearing on Conan.
-David Draiman: "The fact that I was sick as a dog (laughs). I remember I was definitely fighting something off, but it was a cool experience. It was cool performing with an actual orchestra. It was really vibing and the mood helped, I think, enhance the delivery. The stars just aligned that night and everything went right."

I have never seen or heard a better band live, and Freddy Mercury is the greatest front man there has ever been, or will ever be. Start with "Somebody To Love", live in Montreal, 1981. Enjoy!!!

I simply LOVE you reaction to both of his SOS vids. Probably because I had the exact same reactions. I have watched just about every SOS-Disturbed reaction video on TH-cam and there are posers and fakes, so called experts and all the rest, and you have nailed it in both vid reactions. Your honesty and candidness are very refreshing. He is the most awesome singer and the song was perfect for him - excellent arrangement too. Would love to suggest some old rock for you to react to. Take care.

Love your reactions. You are amazing too. I like that you listen to the whole song and then say how you feel about the song at the end. That’s how these reactions need to be done. When the song is stopped by others to describe it stops the flow of the feelings one has. Stopping the vid should always be done after if someone wants to break apart and describe each part. I love the way you immerse yourself in the music and feel it in you. Your expressions are amazing. This man, David is incredible, amazing, soooo good a singer he really is. Amazing range in his vocals, soft low tones, higher tones with strength and so much power with such a awesome rasp that is so controlled. He’s a trained vocalist. He brings that rasp up above his vocal cords, so that he doesn’t tear and damage his vocal cords. I could listen to him forever when he’s sings like this. Keep up the great streams. I’m gonna like and subscribe for sure. You are amazing too!

David is a mesmerizing performer. I have seen Disturbed multiple times and I always feel bad for the other band members later because I forgot to watch them. He is so magnetic on stage. Ypu should react to some. Of their normal stuff its way different than this. Also his training was not classical. He was trained as a Cantor in synagogue. This song was originally a duet. Try the version with Dave and Myles Kennedy live in Houston.

Let me suggest a couple of songs that are very emotional. "Hurt," by Johnny Cash - he took a song about addiction, by Nine Inch Nails, and turned it into a song about regret at the end of your life. "Monsters," by James Blunt - less than one year ago he found out that his father was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure, and no donor for a transplant could be found. This is his song to his father. Be sure to watch the official video, since his father appears in it. The good news, is that the release of the video in early January expanded the knowledge about this, and a donor was finally found - the transplant took place in the last days of January, and appears to have been successful.

As others have pointed out, David Draiman was sick that night with a touch of the flu.
One thing I haven't seen anyone else here mention is that after hearing this recording, Paul Simon, who wrote the song and originally recorded it with Art Garfunkel in 1964, contacted the band and told them it was better than the Simon and Garfunkel original version.
As for myself, I grew up in the 60s and 70s and heard the Simon & Garfunkel version numerous times and loved their harmonies but it wasn't until I heard Disturb's studio version and this live version that I actually listen to the lyrics and realized what the song is about.
I realize that not everyone's going to have the same interpretation of this song has I do but to meet it's a warning that people are losing the ability to communicate with each other, both on a personal one on one level and on a group level.

David Draiman is well known for insisting that no one should ever put out a recording that can't be exactly replicated in a live performance, and it shows here. Add the fact that he was also suffering from pneumonia during this performance and it makes this even more incredible. He truly is a god of vocal artistry. His classical training and all the hard work he put into developing that voice is fully on display with this song, and it's pure joy for the senses.
However, as impressive and as wonderful as he was here, I think you lose a lot of the meaning of the song by not being able to see the fantastic imagery conveyed in the video that accompanies the studio recording. In particular, you lose the signs of hope they have for the future as displayed at the end of the video when the ark filled with all of the people who have been collecting instruments is gliding across the water to meet all the people waiting on the opposite shore who are holding all the sheet music they've been collecting. A visual prayer for the future once we finally get through these dark times. We need that glimpse of hope, of finally coming together, just as much as we need to start listening to what the song is saying.
Another wonderful reaction. A big thumbs up from the west coast of Canada. Stay safe.

The original was a great song, but this cover always sends shivers down my back. David has an amazing voice though a lot of the music he does for Disturbed doesn't show his full talent. The interview he did on recording this was interesting. He only fairly recently before recording this had gotten to the point of being able to sustain vibrato while singing in his distorted rasp. I'd say he showed it off pretty well here. He also indicated that he did the album recording just with his normal voice, no adjustments or autotune so he can do it live as well. In this case he was actually sick and still managed it.

David Draiman is awesome, some vocal coaches have said he's using an autotune mic. Regardless, still one of my favorite vocalists. Please watch and react to Five Finger Death Punch's Wrong Side of Heaven. I'm a vet and I can't watch it without getting a bit misty eyed. Powerful video!!

I loved your reaction!!! Please, react to an awesome Finnish band called poets of the fall!!! It blows my mind with the lyrics and the voice of the singer... I suggest carnival of rust, War or Daze!!! Kisses from Argentina

I would like to suggest you react to Disturbed - Down With the Sickness ...it really shows you what kind of band they really are and also can show you his full range of abilities. Edit: I'm an idiot and just noticed you already reacted to it. Glad you enjoyed it.

I watched an interview with David and they asked him if he had to choose between angelic voice or a demons voice, what would you choose? He replied YES! 😆

If you have not seen it - try reacting to Queen - Somebody to Love (1981, Live at Montreal) ... it is truly a champion of live performances.

You should check out more Disturbed.
People just think he's a metal head....but songs like" Inside The Fire" have very profound lyrics.
People think it's just a crazy demonic metal song....but he's literally singing from the devil's perspective. The devil tempting him to kill himself after his girlfriend overdosed on drugs.
