What's the #1 most FRUSTRATING thing about being SHORT while riding a dirt bike? "Master Your Confidence" Trail Riding Handbook [Free PDF Guide] - motocrosshideout.com/confidence/
You can also purchase aftermarket seats that are shaved down and have a higher quality foam for comfort. And for some bikes you can replace the rear shock with one that is one inch lower than stock.
Man!! Why didn't I find this channel years ago! I love riding the trails but here has been some less than perfect days for what I didn't know. Please keep this channel going!
I shaved the seat on my xr650 it’s just ridiculously small, I took off a least 2 inches those seats are pretty thick foam I used 1 of those cheese grater things for woodwork it takes longer but you can shape it really nicely and won’t take off too much. Plus I got to add a nice new red seat cover instead of the black one. It helped a lot now I can touch balls of feet both sides same time which is way better than before.
Im looking at a 2024 kawasaki klx300sm, I sat on one and its about an inch too high for my liking, can I add a 1 inch lowering link without any major problems to the suspension? Will i have to replace the kick stand for the 1 inch drop?
If you're a new rider then you probably won't feel much difference with the suspension by lowering it 1". I'm not sure how the kickstand is set up. If it sits almost upright when stock, then lowering it will probably require modifying the kickstand unless you park it at an angle where the kickstand is lower than the bike.
Hello! I am about 5'3, i am thinking about getting either a crf250 or a kxf250. Do you maybe think any is rideable for me only with a lowered seat? thank you already
I have heard of people playing with the preload on the rear shock, to lower the back of the bike .? Would that work ? Or mess up the feel of the rear ?
Good question. From my understanding, the sag numbers should be about the same as before. Make sure you lower the front forks to balance the suspension heights out or else you'll get a poor handling bike. Let us know how it goes :)
Damn this video wouldve been helpful for me if it were uploaded earlier lol. First bike, 2013 CRF250L, i'm 5'7. Couldn't even get both tip-toes on the ground while practising in a parking lot. Once I completed my MSF, I got a lowering kit for it and had them lower it like 2 inches or something. Now, I can at the very least get both balls on the ground, way more comfortable and secure to ride.
You can just grow 5 inches...or wear platform motocross boots like the band KISS does!...seriously tho...I am 5'5" and my old KTM 525 MXC is like 37.5 inches tall and although I love tje way it handles it has screwed me a few times on hill climbes....Lowering links and forks up in the triple clamps is best

Ha, it's slowly growing. Thanks for your encouragement, John!
What's the #1 thing you're struggling with or would like to improve right now?

For someone who is around 5’10” this honestly helps. I feel like lowering the suspension does help getting on the bike mainly
1 is to 1 for suspension.. . Almost same handling i'm 5'5.. .
If city driving only, change rim set.
17' back and 18' front

Yes for both questions

Maybe but you will probably need to tippy toe
@@marcolordun4399 it also will help if you lower/soften the suspension that will make the height of it lower by an inch or so
@@marcolordun4399 im about 5’6 and i can almost flat foot my dads crf250rx
yo brother any Updates? Im 5'3 too idk if I should take the crf 250 😢😢
@adlandis_9087 sorry mate no updates, my intetests moved to the crf300L which looks like a more manageable bike

That's one of the things that I talked about in this video and the effects of it :)
Did you watch the video ?
How do U set race sag with a lowering link if you lower say 20mm do you add that to the sag total

Ha, well thanks for watching! You should check out this video for getting on a tall bike: th-cam.com/video/TfEJIr2G6qU/w-d-xo.html
I'm 5'3 2013 crf250r same lol
@@CheeseツI’m the same height and I want a 250 is it hard to start it and get on it ?
@razer4701 It's not very hard. I just had to do a lot of tip towing It It did take a little patience.
The best way to shave seat foam is to use an electric kitchen knife. It shaves foam so easy you can shape it and be done with it.
I bet! I just used a regular knife because I didn't have access to an electric one at the time and didn't want to buy one.
Bro, I literally just finished lifting my bike last summer😂
You must not suffer from shortleg-itis 😆
