Personally, I do not mind the "and here we are X hours later" cuts.
If you're not feeling engaged enough to chat and record until something exciting happens- that's just how it is.

If you could fit this into your existing workflow and just show us when you tab back in between other things that would be a true to life representation of this style of idle game.

Thats how i feel too, being stagnate happens in idle games like this so you gotta have to skip to new sections of exciting stuff... there IS LOOOOOONG stints of the SAME thing. However, thats the thing about idle games, it takes grinding so it's that king of game.

Finally someone differentiate between incremental/idle/clicker games, also to help make it easier : you could perhaps call an incremental game, an exponential game

Clicker & Idler describe how you interact with the game while Incremental describes the purpose/goal of the game.

The problem is not that you have to leave the game running. It's that you were spending ludicrous numbers of gnorps on collection, even though your bottleneck was with production. Almost all your production was from slammers, but you spent about four times as many gnorps on Mountaineers and runners as on Slammers.

  • @itryen7632

10:54 That's like putting every single third person shooter in a box, and then putting Splatoon in another separate box, just because one of them uses gyro-assisted aiming as a means of interacting with the game. I think it's just redditors being redditors and trying their best to make their favourite genre seem more varied and in-depth than it actually is. A clicker is 99% the same as an idler and vice versa, to the point where it doesn't even make sense to make a distinction between the names.

This is a fun game, picked it up after your first video. One suggestion if you want to do more is the game is very build focused. At the start of a new prestige you can reselect all your talents and decide what kind of build you want to try. If you try to do everything you're builds won't be focused enough to really progress well.

Incremental games are about the number going up, generally to absurd planet eating levels and usually involve occasional restarts to get more powerful. To some extent a rouge-lite game where you get stuff after each run (as opposed to a full rouge like that completely resets progress) could be considered a type of incremental game. Clicker games tend to require player input to maximize results - building a multiplier, combining towers, collecting a resource, planning a path or so on. Idle games will just collect with the player occasionally acting to increase speed (ie buying a level up).

  • @itryen7632

12:46 Dude, leveling doesn't increase in pace in pokemon. Neither does the rate of collection. It's more linear than incremental.

you can have the compression happen automatically if you don't upgrade(or get as many) runners or have the damage be like 2 or 3 * what the collection is

    • @Glubnub
      @Glubnub 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Also breaktime is designed to help trigger compression, also, mountaineers should rest if you want to trigger compression as they tend to dig out the higher points in the pile, Also shards are drained from the pile when you are near compression so mountaineers help keep the pile low so shards aren’t drained from the pile when you don’t want compression, shard draining is the main challenge of trying to trigger compression.

I think it makes total sense that you miss more when you're recording. Part of your attention is always giong to being entertaining, so it's harder to figure things out or notice things. That, and everyone misses basic stuff sometimes. It's easier to see what someone else is missing than to not miss anything yourself

12:54 it’s sort of how you can’t have a strictly sci-fi, fantasy, zombie game, or anything on its own. They’re all important genres of games, but you need something else or you just have a still image. Whether that other thing is a platformer, survival, exploration, walking sim, puzzle, or anything else, it needs something else to be an actual game. Clicker games could be paired with other genres instead of incremental, but tend to be boring on their own, but could theoretically be done. You could have a survival clicker game, but it would get boring quickly. Like, imagine Minecraft, but instead of building anything, you just had a flat image of resources to click on to acquire, and meters to keep full, like health, hunger, and energy or something like that. Once you got your diamond gear, what reason would there to be to stick around, other than just getting a high score, but if you add 30 materials the get stronger and stronger with each one, suddenly there’s a reason to stick around. The reason incrementals are so commonly associated with clicker games, is because of how easy it is to make them. Most phones have an incremental clicker game built in to them called, the calculator. If you just keep hitting +1, the number continues to get bigger, and if you stat hitting +2 instead, congratulations, you just got an upgrade. But because of the lack of visuals, enforced rules, and even some slightly more complicated mechanics, most people wouldn’t consider that a game, yet it doesn’t take much to add those things and call it a clicker game. Games that really make the incremental genre shine though, are automation games. While it might not seem like it at first, factorio is a great example. You start out mining and crafting by hand, but later are producing the same things but a thousandfold, and other things at the same time! But to make something like that takes a lot more effort and time, so you can’t make a new one every week and get quick money from selling it.

Vulnerability is so OP, it can hinder itself - I effectively got it to a point where there is no mountain to speak of.
*I got the mountain back, but it needed a lot of self hinderance...
** That one kinda turned itself into a cycle of "build mountain - get around double your production in shards - repeat."

I’ll second what other commenters have said about Antimatter Dimensions being one of (and personally speaking THE) best incremental/idle games but it is understandable why it’d be a hard sell and I can’t see it working great for videos. It’s incredibly long (beating the game in its current state would most likely take at least 4 months if not closer to a year, and if I’m remembering correctly even “speedruns” take at least 400 hours), and it can be very mechanically complex or just plain difficult to progress in some areas relative to other games. I love it for it, but it’s hard to really compare to the other well known idle/incremental games. Trying to beat it is a *commitment*.

I love the "Rocket breath" upgrade chain for early to mid-game.
    1) Bullet breath (Prestige) = Slammers breathe bullets after combo, instead of fire
    2) Future to the past (Prestige) = All bullets become normal arrows
    3) Rocket arrows (Zybellium upgrade) = All normal arrows become rockets
This build scales really well with increasing slammer count, especially if you get Additional housing (Zybellium upgrade) to get their number high

I think I had 13 talent points as well by then. Might try it again with a completely different set of perks and avoiding slammers, maybe an arrow/bomber build.

Bro AD is seriously such a good incremental game. It's just boiled down to it's most pure form, so if you're not into the idle aspect of incrementals you're obviously not gonna have as much fun with it. I think separating the game genre into active and passive is the best way to distinguish between different types of incremental games. The best incremental games have a good balance of active vs passive gameplay. AD has definitely struck a good balance imho, but this is coming from someone who can appreciate some idling. If you're not a fan of idling, I think in general you're not necessarily a fan of incremental games. Again just one humble man's opinion

Strongly disagree with you calling Increlution a pure idle game. It's the opposite, the game forbids you from idling longer than 30 minutes before you reach stuff you haven't unlocked automation for.
The idle part gets skipped to be no longer than 10-20 minutes no matter how far you go. Hell, if you play the game with a 2x-3x speedhack on, you almost never go idle at all.
