Former game producer here. Wanderbot is absolutely right about avoiding major sales. Our games sold in the hundreds of thousands if not millions of copies and even we avoided the big sales and holidays like the plague. You only ever get one chance to launch your game, and that's it. And yes, early access does count as that one chance.
1:00:25 If by that point you die if anything touches you, just don’t let anything touch you. Full commit, remove the HP booster and become the true glass cannon lol
Yeah, they were doing 100+M of damage to the 2M tower. That or the enemies had so much of a damage multiplier that the number didn't matter 🤔
A similar game in this vein is Perfect Tower 2 an idle Tower Defense with aspects of city building , its free on steam and has a lot of mechanics beyond the main gameplay loop like challenges, a factory minigame about mining and producing resources by crafting machines, different build and boss fights. It has a LOT of content though, and it will take quite a bit to get the hang of it - if you end up with it, dont rush into resets like in other idle games, they're not always traditional "do the gameplay up to here 2000x faster" prestiges.
I always prefer when an idle or clicker game *gives* an auto clicker. External auto clickers aren't my cup of tea, and clicking repeatedly for extended periods isn't exactly fun, I'd rather have the option to let it handle itself most of the time
Strongly agree. Tried the demo and immediately noticed that clicking fired the primary weapon. Instantly booted up my auto-clicker. I do NOT want to spam click my mouse repeatedly just to fire faster-RSI / carpal tunnel anyone? The dev should change this immediately and just speed up the attack speed and remove the ability to click to fire faster.
@@State_Of_Fugue Yea. Please don't abuse the wrists of your customers.
More than that, they should cap the max click rate at whatever the in-game clicker does, so you literally CAN'T use an auto-clicker program for anything useful.
@@State_Of_Fugue I traded my health boost for the burst fire upgrade so I could stop clicking
@@Nevir202this does not stop auto clickers you just can’t get the max click speed out of it
At 56:00, when Wander used homing, it definitely made a difference as evey projectile took its own enemys rather than maintaining the original formation, i think a more appropriate description would be that all projectiles get precision targeting.
i saw that too
i was thinking of calling it "multi aiming", "split aim" or "free aim"
I don't know if it is just me but watching the enemies zero in on the tower in wave 10 made it look like the camera was constantly zooming backwards, made me kinda dizzy feeling
26:05 I am making a game that I was going to publish during the sale, thanks for this heads up
44:24 that evil laugh of realization 😂
38:35 Might be colour specific weapons and perks? So the blue perks only work for blue weapons? and The homing would only work for red weapons?
Actually the homing does work, but its an auto aim, not a homing. All the bullets choose a target and shot at it, doesnt change course through flight. U can see it at 56:20
@@SophGuiLea Ahh :o
@@SophGuiLea Nah, it clearly doesn't work for Gatling gun.
@@PadaV4 Because Gatling isn’t a projectile (somehow)
I saw it working too, it just doesn’t work the way it should based on the name. It doesn’t have anything to do with homing, it causes extra projectiles to target enemies similarly to the main gun. It seems quite good but it’s weird to call it “homing”
30:56 I hope he clicks the loop button at level 20. That's what it's for lol (haven't finished watching yet!)
41:48 nope, oh well 😂 staying on the high value waves gives a lot more money than staying at the one before or after
56:05 it looks like when you turned on percision, it made every projectile stream lock onto seperate targets, not give individual projectiles homing. like, your 1 forward, 4 back suddenly just became 5 at nearest. that seems pretty good tbh, just could use a better esplanation in the skill. di
I was just thinking about FLERP earlier today and wishing it had more content.
It's a great game but after you explore the different builds and synergies there isnt much else to see.
100% Achievements in about 10-15 hours isnt bad but there's nothing "deeper" so to speak.
I'll definitely have to give this one a try ❤
I was hoping the gatling would modify your slow primary gun, not add a new, weak one that's ineffective as soon as purchased.
But the early upgrades are very cheap, so you can quickly bring new weapons up to speed with your existing ones
The attetion economy is a thing. On top (or maybe along side that) discoverability is a thing. You have to be very careful about how you release things.
Yoooo on the day of my finals, love your content man and it always helps cheer me up
I waited patiently for you to figure out you could use autoclicker. 44:19
I was hooked by the music, is it editing or from the game?

In game
All these Incremental games, and you are forgetting the greatest Incremental game of all, Warframe. (numbers go up)
While Warframe definitely counts, I'd rarely refer to it as an incremental game as there are other, better descriptors.
It's why I rarely refer to any RPG as an incremental game. They absolutely are incremental, as far as numbers going up, but that's not really the focus nor is the gameplay really built around facilitating doing so. Except for Disgaea, which goes all-in if you're aiming for the endgame.
@wanderbots Aye. I was refering to it somewhat sarcastically, somewhat as a joke.
Mostly I was saying it because of the big update they launched this month, do check out Warframes latest content, the team has been straight up COOKING.
44:27 That was pure comedy lol
I like how the weapon upgrades stack, it gots some nice patterns
It's like Incremental Adventures the way it checks your build and sends you back if you're inefficient.
This is bringing back playing flash games on the school computer vibes
Ive tried talking to the dev on discord they have every intention of releasing it on the 26th, they said they already pushed back the release date once and don't want to do it again, but I did get across to them that releasing during a steam sale is a bad idea and that they said they would seriously consider it. I just asked them to do some research and look into it.
Hey, Wanderbots, not sure if you ever figured it out, but if you click your main gun fires faster.
This seems like fun. Just grabbed the DEMO played once and got to level 10. And wishlisted. :D Also, you can click to shoot faster.
Just waiting for Wander to realize its a clicker after downloading, starting and zooming past while video was playing.
Edit: at 28 min into video I beat the demo. clicking is OP
i played this game a WHILE back and remember that even with the hp upgrade fully maxed out, if i got touched by anything it was instant death, so my plan was to just completely remove the hp module because even with the maxed hp it was practically still only 1, so i just replaced it with something that boosted my damage(i think i ran a knockback explosion homing build but it was a while back so i dont remember)
This reminds me of the free game Perfect Tower 2 on Steam. It's still in beta but there are many similarities, at least until you get waaaaay into the management aspect.
'the classic parable of be very very careful of releasing a game and when you do so' yeah I think that was in like, the Brothers Grimm or Aesop's fables or something, right?
Loving the videos could you turn the game music down a little it over powers your voice sometimes
...Did you really just say "like a roguelite, where instead of going back to the beginning you go back to beginning of the stage"?
I love that genre descriptor, it's so cooked.
Horizon is getting a lego remake.... that seems really popular. I was of the same opinion as Mr. Bot until i talked to some console friends who massively talked up horizon. Lego has done some major properties and has good success with pretty much everything, so I'm interested to see how it goes with horizon
The Lego remake came out already, but due to limited marketing, forced Sony account integration, a steep price point, and a bad launch time most people didn't notice or care: store.steampowered.com/app/2428810/LEGO_Horizon_Adventures/ - at least on Steam. Maybe it did better on consoles.
@wanderbots holy cow.... I didn't even hear a word beyond seeing the teaser
Yup, shocked me when I looked it up two weeks after launch, not realizing it's already out.
I was halfway through the video when I decided to try it. You will shoot faster if you spam-click the left button.
I will try out this game. Its free to play right now so I will play it until its not free anymore.
i think a clicker tower defense where you had to click ON the enemy you wanted to damage would be funny at least
this feels like a somewhat better version of the already existing Idle Tower Defense game sthats in mobile. That one is really frustratingly slow honestly and you get atuck at plateaus all the time.
Remember the tale of titanfall 2, the murdered release!
The way i beat wave 50 is full glass cannon, both extra shots, precision, knockback, bounce, pierce, i think? could probably replace one of the extra shots with explosion, or even precision, but idk, precision seemed quite nice to have.
Also technically you can survive a hit at wave 50 at max hp, i think? but yeah, not sustainable. Lower waves is viable with the sword and probably aura though, with lifesteal.
I imagine you can eventually beat it with swords with massively stacked damage and ust 1-2 tap most things, but that would take some time.
it looks like a simple version of The perfect tower.
There should be an achievement for getting to a certain stage or winning the game without clicking at all.
Imagine if he realised at the beginning that you can click to shoot
Another Wanderbot video. Another Demo Downloaded.
How long did it take him to figure out that as a clicker game, clicking fires the gun each time, making him progress?
43minutes
I think you would like Revolution Idle.
hmm, in many ways games are stories (and i don't mean particularly the lore or the writing). we have been doing that since forever, and new things keep coming up. i wouldn't make innovation rest exclusively or even mainly on tech development.
So i tried this game, currently hardstuck at 50, next unlock slot costs 313k power (no autoclicker, using a melee build), pretty fun so far, but worried how the scaling will be later
That’s because “incremental” is in the same boat as “asexual” or “aromantic”
Not things by themselves but instead modifiers of other things that got big enough to be called its own thing
The homing only applied to the multiple projectiles
If anyone finds this interesting i recommend the perfect tower or the perfect tower 2 great time wasters imo
~1:02:12 thought you were playing tower defense, not a bullet heaven
Unfortunately to the core did not get any updates in the last I think year or so, and you can basically play the entire game in one sitting 😢
i love how only on wave 25 you see that its a clicker game 😅
Just wanna call wander out here for a moment (playfully)... the games not that much of a "slow burn" to get into the higher levels... I just dont think he understood how the upgrades worked... took me 5 minutes to get past lvl 20 😅 oh yeah... and you can click to fire faster... so not purely idle if you want a more active role in progressing
I hunger for moooore
the other "genre" i know where each game is functionally very different but connected through the core design it's gacha games.
Wander… just loop the boss levels!
44:58 Me neither
cicle
perce
this looks like a worse version of "the tower" on android.

No comments yet?? Sus…

I want to play these games in mobile not in laptop
I don't as it would lock up my phone. I like to play them on my handheld so i let it run 24/7 with a couple idle games in the background 😅
Try The Tower
I am raging so hard at you constantly upgrading hp and not upgrading your weapon jfc
