Hi kuya. I also did this and flushed 3 times with coolant just to be sure because the car had 140k miles and I didnt know the history. OMG the color was not only rust, but almost black copper colored! It took 3 flushes to run clear each with 30 minutes of running the car with the heater on. Took half a day but after, I drove the car from LA to Vegas with ease and enjoyed buffets! I asked my mechanic if I should change the thermostat, he said he rarely sees a bad thermostat anymore but best to flush coolant to enjoy many more miles on the car. So far, 10k miles later, the car runs great. Thanks for sharing the video!
Thanks for the comment, I really do appreciate it. Nice job doing the flush, Proper maintenance is the key to longer lasting engine. More DIY & Mods coming soon, Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE and SALAMAT!!!👍
The reservoir is just that it stores extra fluid so when the system heats up it expands into it and when cools down contract s and pulls some fluid back in, but this will take weeks to all mix in- so better to take some liquid out of the radiator and pour clean in.
You are partly right. When your system reaches "operating temp" the thermostat opens and lets all the fluid start circulating and "mixing". Yes the engine block and heads do expand when hot but that does not create much room for additional fluid. When the system is cold the tank holds reserve coolant/antifreeze; when the fluid gets hot it expands and also becomes gas or vapor and that vapor escapes into the atmosphere. Even a cooling system in good shape will sometimes need a little "ADD" Even cars/trucks like Toyotas which get 500,000 to a million miles require some routine maintenance so it just is not wise to buy a vehicle that is designed to force the owner to seek a 100 dollar per hour mechanic's helper on a car that will leave you stranded. For your daughter/wife to get back home is a million times more important than owning a flashy ghetto symbol.
You do not need to run the engine to do the flushing, BMW have electric water pump and it can run independently while engine is off, Just make sure you put a battery charger on your battery, So your battery will not deplete (water pump takes a lot of power). Salamat!!!👍
Thanks Ed, I have an ARMADA SUV with total capacity 14.4 litres, so I used 2 bottles of the LM cleaner, I have flushed tousands of times now but can't get rid of the foaming in the outgoing water, is it an issue ? It's time now to recompose the system, I have been on 100% water for a few days already
Andre Souza, I think the foaming is only the residue of the cleaner, Since you are 100% water, I think now is OK to flush and put fresh 50/50 Coolant & distilled water, You don't want that water to stay long in your engine, It will corrode inside. Hope this helps you. More DIY & Mods coming soon, Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE and Thanks for watching!!!👍
@@edcardiy thanks Ed, I talked to LM and they said that I made a mistake because I ran the cleaner for 3 days and not 30 minutes as recommended; they advised to get rid if the foaming as much as possible but whatever is left won't hurt, I'll start recomposing tomorrow, thanks
Nice video; it really demonstrates some negative aspects about owning and maintaining a BMW. They look very complex and unnecessarily difficult to do very routine maintenance on. I understand that by the time most BMW's need maintenance they also have enough major problems to where a smart person would start looking at a Toyota/Lexus or Honda product. This video does good at demonstrating why to NOT buy a prestige symbol.
In my opinion it doesn't matter where you pour it, They will be mixed in the system anyway. More DIY & Mods coming soon, Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE and Thanks for watching!!!👍
If you have a dual-zone air conditioner, you can solve the problem of one side not heating by changing the heater valve. When you ask the repairman about the heater valve, he will understand.
After putting in flush treatment, I drain it, then run hose water through it while leaving petcock open, engines running. Drain that out, put distilled in run that for a bit, drain that & add antifreeze mix. Oh also change Thermostat out just for the hell of it if it's been in there for years & years.
Just following the instruction of the Liquimoly radiator cleaner, Maybe if you have extra coolant maybe it's better to do your method (just my opinion). More DIY & Mods coming soon, Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE and Thanks for watching!!!👍

Superbly explained.

Don't you have to drain the coolant first then fill with distilled water and cleaner?
Just follow the same process as the instruction of liqui moly.
Drain, run one with tap water ,drain, run with distilled and cleaner drain, add coolant.
You doing very well, that’s helpful, Thanks
Thanks for watching! 👍
Do you run the engine once the distilled water in the reservoir? If so, for how long? How many time you flushed with distilled water? Kabayan😊
You do not need to run the engine to do the flushing, BMW have electric water pump and it can run independently while engine is off,

@@andresouza7962 3 days, Ya some stuff you can run in the vehicle & other stuff " not so much ".
I was wondering about that also, LOL.
Another great Diy, Good job Ed!

Cool. Just ran into this video. Are u lowered on coil overs or lowering springs?
H&R lowering springs, 1inch drop all around
Some people pour LM on to the radiator, some on the reservoir.. which one is correct..??
In my opinion it doesn't matter where you pour it, They will be mixed in the system anyway.

Does this help with the aircon not heating one side
Probably, I have to look into that.

Ok. I see the red springs. Lol.
Just got new adjustable spring from MSS track set-up springs, That is for this summer Version 2 of M235i.
Black particles came out of my cooling system without any molly
I got some black particles also when I did mine, I wonder where it came from?
Anyway Thanks for watching!!!👍
Brother you were supposed to drain the old coolant first
Just following the instruction of the Liquimoly radiator cleaner, Maybe if you have extra coolant maybe it's better to do your method (just my opinion).
