I am glad Beto is still in it. I can't understand how people like bobo and B6 can get elected and Beto can't.
Beto got very close, with 48% of the vote.
Gerrymandering and voter suppression have a real impact.
Ken Paxton said if they had counted all the mail in ballots in 2020, TX would have gone for Biden. So, yeah, TX has made it harder to vote and be counted, so we have to try harder.

Beto ran for senator, president, and governor. Those take the entire state to vote for you.
Bobo chooses her bright red district and only needs those local people to vote for her.
If Beto chose a bright blue district in Texas he could easily win in the house of representatives. In fact, he did it before. He obviously didn’t want to be restrained to one district among hundreds.
But getting the entire red state to vote for you is much much harder.
Also, Beto wants reasonable gun regulation while Bobo wants everyone to carry an AR on their back and a handgun on their hip.
In Texas that’s an existential problem. You can’t be reasonable about guns and win the state.
Judging by your posts you don't understand much of anything.

So glad to see you Beto. I was living in Texas when you ran against Ted Cruz. I voted for you, and I thought you had a good chance. Now, I am supporting Colin Allred, and praying a lot. I lived there during the Big Freeze when Cruz flew to Cancun while the rest of us were freezing to death. People froze to death under Greg Abbott’s watch. It was so shameful. Thank you for not giving up and for fighting the good fight. You are an inspiration to everyone.

OMG, same. I lived in rural East Texas during his Senate run in 2018, and I volunteered for his campaign. There were times when our safety was threatened while knocking doors in my deep red county, but I just believed in him SO much. I've since moved to El Paso, and being in a more open, liberal community helps, but I still can get so hopeless sometimes. Hearing him speak can still relieve that sense for a while.

Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz, and Ken Paxton are the three most hated, black marks on Texas.

Don't forget Patrick and Senator Brian Hughes who shoves the voter suppression and Choice laws through state House. He and Paxton have been known to show up in D.C. this year. Paxton and his state Congressional 'wife'(Ft. worth) attended J6.
Don't forget Patrick too. State Senator Brian Hughes is the delegated Voter Suppression lawyer shoving Jim Crow and Secretary of State (Houston overturn new law) Legislation.
Texas a pioneer on rights like Choice Health laws and a supporter of Theological Project '25 and deregulation.

What we need is a federally-mandated voting rights act which specifies things like no-excuse mail-in voting, a dropbox per such-and-such population of an area, mandatory funding for any county/city/whatever with lines that exceed half an hour, etc. etc. This shit of voting suppression has to end. What kind of democracy tries to freeze people out because they're the "wrong kind" of people?
Didn't have the Senate when Pelosi passed. Couldn't Codify Roe either.

It would also be good to make election day a national holiday that mandates a minimum of 4 hours off for people like first responders, shift workers, etal, who would typically work on a holiday.

We in Texas used to be able to vote at the grocery store. Within 6 years , im searching online for a voting location. Really cuts out voters of color. Shameful!
Can't stress enough, this election isn't just about voting for the presidency. it's about electing every position on the ballot. From school boards to mayors to state and federal representation for democracy. Check beforehand where each person you vote for stands.💙

If I remember correctly, voter turn out was less than 40%, TX gerrymander to hell and think a lot of folks freaked out when he said he’ll take your AR15 away from you.

What a shameful history for Texas
Today, most every political evil probably has a Texas connection. Often an origination.
Texas today has origins and roots for most of the Republican agenda, formulas, and mandated Project '25.🥀❤️🔥
I live with gratitude in Oregon. My sister lives in Texas. The political rift couldn't be wider. It is hertbreaking bc I can't give her info she won't get otherwise, like the Project 2025 agenda.
@carolynsumners4915 for sure, they really keep gerrymandering and purging votes. It gets a lot of people down and lose hope of it becoming blue again. It can be done but it’s hard to get people to vote. Still trying!
My Texas high school was named in honor of Robert E. Lee-full blown White Supremacy complete with the Confederate flag. And my city did not even exist at the time of the Civil War.

Went to a xhurch around Easter and there were jellybeans in a jar to guess number for a door prize. I explained in front of the crowd what that meant to oppressed. Think the frosting melted off the cake...silence.
