    I have an Alabama story that still haunts me. I (white female) live in Appalachian Mtns of VA and my fiance lived on the west bank of New Orleans after college graduation. One trip by auto to see him, I stopped in Alabama (pretty rural) to get gas. Got a drink and some snacks and went to register behind two black guys. The white clerk ignored them, and asked to help me. I said these two gentlemen were here first. They looked down and said "Go ahead", the clerk said "No, I'll help you." So I paid and left because I had the exact amount already in my hand. But, I had never seen that blatant disregard for other people and it has bothered me for over 40 years. We should be better than this.

      They have to answer to God Almighty for what they did & do against others. The Bible clearly states that “GOD IS NOT PARTIAL.” How dare they think it’s ok to be.

      I have a Georgia story for you, from about 15 years ago. I stopped at a gas station near my house that I did not normally trade at, because I was quite low on gas, and why not? No automatic pumps, so you had to go inside to pay before pumping. I was the only white person in the place, and I was totally ignored. All other customers were served; I stood at the counter like an invisible person. Eventually left. This is NOT normal, but it does still happen.

    This is the right approach. We don't want to reg the maps toward Democrats, we want FAIR districts. Districts whose results reflect the electorate. Thank you Marc Elias and Eric Holder for devoting yourselves to this cause.
    The challenges by non-governmental units are a critical part of law. It's one of the most important decisions before the Supreme Court this year, which really concerns me. Dismantling Civil Rights has been an ongoing project of the Roberts Court. John Roberts has been on this since he worked for the Reagan Administration.

    The fact that the Supreme Court has purposely not made the rulings that are considered no brainers proves the point that we need a way to hold Court Justices' accountable. Right now they believe that they have no reason to do what they (and all of America) know is right because they will never be sued financially for their actions, plus none of them worry about going to prison for refusing to do what the Constitution requires them to do.

      48 states award electoral votes on the basis of winner take all. Thus if a candidate wins 49% of the vote he/she doesn’t receive any electoral votes. This essentially means 49% of the people are not represented by elected officials who are concerned with their interests. Getting rid of the electoral college would require amending our constitution. That’s not likely to happen nor is changing the way electoral votes are allocated in the 48 winner take all states.

    • @lisawall9068
      @lisawall9068 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Amending the constitution can be done. Not easily. But it would be for the greater good to remove the EC to get to one man, one vote.

    The single most effective way to find the answer to which judge you should vote for can be found at your local Democratic party. You don't have to join, just look at their websites. They announce endorsements after the primaries.

    I live in Omaha Nebraska, our governor is trying to change the rules that all counties would go with majority regardless if Biden would win in Omaha, Trump wins in the hicks, all delegates would go to Trump. What can I do to try and STOP this madness! 💙💙💙💙

    As a democrat, I now pay GREAT attention to which judges I vote for, though currently my state seems safe.
    And it is VERY hard to “judge the judges” for lack of interpretable data on their backgrounds and records.

    That’s a very important reminder that there is joy and camaraderie in the stubble success of winning. I remember when I thought of myself as a member of Dumbledore army fighting against Donald Donald Trump, and his death eaters that I very much felt like I was engaged in a meaningful and very importantbattle and we won but now we have to undo the damage and it looks like it’s gonna take decades, and that’s why it’s important to prevent the damage in the first place, because it takes decades to undo it

    In Alabama, just addressing redistricting won't stop GOP dirty tricks. I li Ed in Huntsville AL for 24 years and for Obama's reelection, I fortunately heard in advance that they were purging the voter polls. I called ahead of voting day to find out if I had been purged, and sure enough I had. I asked why, and was told I hadn't voted for a few years. A lie. I voted every election. I was in a heavily democratic district.
