Is there any upcoming video showing how Resident Evil Village is playing on Apple silicon Mac's, they released a native version of the game today and so far there's only one notable article that shows it's running really well with Metal FX upscaling... A proper video about this would be great 👍🏻
As an owner of the M1 iPad Pro 11in, the best thing about the M2 iPad Pro is that it makes mine not feel dated at all even after 1.5 years and great at future proofing!
IMO, it’s not worth it at all. The camera hardware it’s the same, design and displays are the same, and the M2 it’s not a big deal specially running iPadOS. I’ve had the M1 iPad Pro since day one and it feels as fast on regular usage as my iPhone 14 Pro. Unless you do very specific workflow, the M1 refurbished or used it’s the best deal.
This to. People geekin over benchmarks but the performance difference isnt that big as it shows. If you have a M1 the m2 isnt worth getting at all im sorry
Honestly, the M1 iPad Pro and also M2 iPad Pro is really designed for content, creators, video editors, and photography work. M2 is a much needed upgrade for video editing
I went with M2 iPad Pro because I am upgrading from 10.5 2017 iPad Pro and it now has developed all kinds of display issues and I think it’s a good time to upgrade. But if I had an M1 I would definitely stick with it for a few more years.
I want to upgrad from 2017 Ipad pro but want a much bigger chance miniled in 11 inch and the horizontal camera. If it comes i will upgrade next year or 2024 with discount on Black Friday. At this point my Ipad is fast enough for another year…
@@lino100x100 Yes, but when you have the money and has waiting and using a ipad so long why not…in Germany it is the badest price increase over 200$, in Germany hands down M1
I think when you take into account the M1 iPads being discounted as much as 200$ brand new, and much more so used, the M1 comes out on top even with the M2’s performance bump
I was holding off on pulling the trigger on a new iPad until the 2022 model was announced. Ended up deciding on an Amazon renewed M1 256gb model for $690. This video definitely validated my decision!
Exactly what I did I cancelled my order 4 times because I was wondering which is more worthy it and paying an extra 150$ for the m1 12.9 inch was a better option than the m2 11 inch.
@@ToxicBlue It’s the equivalent of an open box product from BestBuy. My iPad was described as being in excellent condition and it looked brand new, but came in a generic box and had a non-Apple charger. My MacBook Pro from Amazon had 40 battery cycles and a micro scratch on the Apple logo, but was otherwise as good as new.
What I’d say is this: if you don’t have an iPad and want the top of the line, go get the M2. If you don’t need the latest and want to save some while getting a high end iPad, get the M1 And if you’re on the A12Z or M1 iPad Pros, hold off for another 1-2 years. Same applies to anyone on any iPad sold since 2020, with the exception to users on the 7th gen iPad base model. (Key word, sold).
@@004vamsi Have no idea wym lol? It wouldn’t be able to play 8k ? But yeah was just messing around haven’t payed attention to all specs i’m on ipad 9 lmao
I have a 1st gen iPad Air, which was obviously suffering from increasing problems in being unable to upgrade software, etc. (It is still fine for reading my digital books and some older games.) In any event, I was interested in an upgrade, opting for my 12.9" 6th gen iPad Pro M2. It is a beautiful machine. I know it has caught a lot of flack here for cost, minimal bump over predecessor, etc., but I like it very much. Just my 2 cents.
I went with the newest ipad with m2 just because i was upgrading from an old samsung tablet. But honestly it was astonishing to me that the fact you can see the outline of a brush now is a separate feature! My 5 yo samsung tab s4 had that since day one 👀 honestly the amount of the most random things apple witholds to convince people to upgrade their devices is ridiculous. If I had a previous model of ipad I probably wouldn't even think about upgrading to the latest anyway.. At least the charging cable now looks pretty solid and will last more than a couple of months..
Also yes I know the cables don’t have the like pressure tension relief thingy on the end because Apple thinks it looks ugly and I wanted to say I have the m2 as well and have been loving it just wish they made like a 15 inch version
Great video! From someone who’s in nursing school and upgraded to the 12.9 M2 from the 9th gen, the pencil hover is pretty nice. This helps with scanning the videos for school without having to actually move the video itself.
Yeah, these guys always do great tests but then miss out on a couple things which change the performance. Unfortunately a lot of these tests are partly negated by the M1 still being on iPadOS 15.
Definitely not true. If you do your research, you would know that the M2 has a big leap forward in browser tests compared to the M1. This is a known fact since the M2 MacBook Air came out, and they’re definitely not done on iPad OS! The M2 has THE FASTEST browsing speed on any computer, tablet, device EVER! It’s insane…
@@fmax30000 If you do your research even more you would know that due to Safari 16’s increased performance, the performance on M1 machines increases with ~50 points more, narrowing the gap between M1 and M2. (on my iPhone 13 Pro I also got a bump of about 50 points and now I get around 340)
I had a 2014 iPad Air that I’ve had for 9 years. Updates stopped a while back but I needed to upgrade as it was getting quite slow and dated. I found the iPad Pro 11 inch M1 on apples certified refurbished section for £639. What a steal, it’s perfect. So quick and the pro motion display is amazing. I feel very comfortable that this will last me 5+ years.
I’ve got iPad Pro 12.9 m1 and this is absolutely the best tablet i ever had. Pure perfection. It’s hard to imagine how would be looks like better tablet. 😊
The amazing thing is that modern iPads generally have a significant usable lifetime. Upgrading after 1 year is almost never necessary. To summarize my thoughts: - If you currently have an M1, you probably don't need to upgrade unless you absolutely need the performance and/or hover features. If you do, you know who you are. - If you have a 2018 or later model, you *might* want to upgrade for the better performance (and XDR on the 12.9") but it depends on your use case. If you do a lot of multitasking the bump may be significant but if you primarily run a single app at a time you may not even notice the difference. - If you have a 2017 model or older, the form factor alone is a lot nicer and it's going to be a huge improvement overall. I had a 2018 11" and I had been planning to go to the 12.9" already, so the M2 upgrade made sense for me. Still, had it not been for the screen size I may have stuck with the 2018 for another year. Hover is really the wildcard feature. If you're an artist, it could be a game changer. But for almost any other person it's not worth upgrading just for that.
There's nothing on iPad OS that even will use that extra performance. Therefore, literally nobody can even take advantage of it. Just get the M1 Pro unless you need hover.
I agree with this completely, new iPads (especially the pros) last forever. I just started having issues running certain applications with my old iPad Pro 9.7” from 2016, and the past few generations of pros have had overkill performance for iPadOS, so I’d imagine they’d last even longer.
The iPad Pro has already been a huge gamechanger for me as a freelance artist. Love my 2017 ipad pro model, might upgrade in a year or two 😃 but it is still going strong 🔥 .. want the 2.0 pencil and I love this new hover feature. I've been a wacom user for many many years btw.
It’s also important to note that while there may be sales on the older M1 iPad at this very moment making them more affordable than the M2 that stock will not last forever. For maybe a few weeks to a month it may cost less to get a M1 but eventually that stock will dry up. The M1 is not being manufactured anymore. So eventually the only option will be used or a new M2. It’s a bit misleading to tell people not to get a M2 when that will soon be the only option to buy. I just think it’s important to make that clarification. If one can find a new M1 model or a decent condition used M1 then yes it will do very well compared to the M2. But the M2 is in no way a bad buy and up until a few months ago people were paying the same price for less performance on the M1. Eventually we will see sale prices on the M2 as well. The M2 is not meant to be a upgrade from the M1. It’s a better new option for new buyers. Instead of Apple selling an older model for another year they give a bit more for the same price.
I'm in new zealand and we only have 1 place parallel importing them new and it takes 2 weeks for it to arrive... hopefully it will still be there in 2 weeks so i don't have to go refurbished 😅
it's been a year since your comment, and just today i ordered a factory refurbished m1 ipad pro directly from apple. idk how much longer they will be available but i assume that sometime in 2024 when apple refreshes the ipad lineup, m1 ipads will no longer be available directly from apple. but then there will be refurbished m2.. with a new shell, battery, and display, it doesn't make sense to me to buy the latest new ipad, when you can have one that is at least externally new and save significantly on cost. unless you really need a feature on the latest model for work / business, it's always better to purchase older model electronics. not only do you get much better deals, but by waiting you make sure you don't become an early adopter of something that ends up with problems.
Apparently owning an M2 iPad pro causes you to get recommendations for these videos lol. This is my first apple product. I'm going to list a couple of the downsides that I have seen with my 12.9" M2 ipad pro, and then I'll list my favorite. Tablet model - 12.9" space gray iPad pro 1tb/16gb RAM, with 5G. The Bad 1) The rumors are true, light bleed is BAD on this thing in dark rooms. You won't notice it during the day or if you're just watching videos in the dark, but something like white writing on a completely black screen looks like a white neon light glowing around the writing. I haven't turned the brightness completely up in a dark environment, but at about 30% brightness the light bleed is insane. I couldn't imagine having it brighter than that in a dark room. 2) The tablet is surprisingly heavy already, and putting any kind of case on it makes it heavier. Between the magnets built into the case and ipad, and the weight of the hardware already in it, holding the tablet for a extended period of time does become a chore. My daughters have two fire HD 10" with cases, and the iPad outweighs both of them put together, even with the cases. The Good 1) The speakers are second to none when compared to any other tablet or phone. I have a zugu case that magnetizes to my fridge, and I love to watch music videos on my ipad while cooking. Siri makes pausing, switching songs/videos, and decreasing the volume/muting EASY. 2)The screen is GORGEOUS to watch media on. Whether you're in a light or dark room, the screen is vibrant and just pops. With the exception of extremely black backgrounds with white writing on them, then it just pops a little too much lol. 3) This thing is an absolute beast. I play a few demanding games, like Diablo immortal and RuneScape, on highest settings, and it keeps the frame rate of the game maxed out(60 or 120fps, depending on what the game allows) at all times. The M2 processor is awesome, and seems extremely future proof. 4)Lastly, stage manager is amazing. Without stage manager, certain games/apps run in portrait mode, which takes up the entire 12.9" screen. It is completely unnecessary for a mobile game. Stage manager allows you to run those portrait mode apps in landscape mode, as windows, allowing you to open multiple apps at once. I absolutely love it. Anyway, that's just my opinion on the new M2 ipad. Do with it what you will lol. Have a good one!
I know Apple releases a new storage option once every 2 years 3 months. So will the iPad Pro 7th gen or the iPad Pro 14.1 inch if it ever comes out have a 4 terabyte internal storage option? It had been awhile since the 2TB was an option.
IMO 4 TB on iPadOS it’s overkill for everyone. Unless M iPad Pros in future can dualboot MacOS, or support heavier workloads, 4 TB option is very unlikely and useless.
@@ethanjrdz So Apple is just going to stop at 2TB and not release a 4TB option in the future? 64GB came out in 2010, 128GB came out in 2013, 256GB came out in 2015, 512GB came out in 2017, 1TB came out in 2018, and 2TB came out in 2021. With this, I can comfortably assume that Apple doubles the max storage every couple of years.
@@X1GenKaneShiroX thing is, the 2TB storage is already a overkill. Most users dont go beyond 700-900 GB of usage. Maybe by 2025 they will introduce the 4 TB. 2023/24 seems too early. knowing that they will eventually drop the 128GB option.
@@IanDabre07 Too early… I know Apple already have some huge multiple terabytes storages for their MacBook Pro and their iMac Pro. If the 4TB tablet ever did come out, I wonder how the price tag will look like. I’m afraid though that it’s going to cost me an arm and a leg.
@@X1GenKaneShiroX By an alternative POV I think iPad Pro models are being introduced to full scale 4k video editing. It won't be long until people start needing 4TB storages to edit those 4k videos. But still, I think 2025 will be the earliest we might see a 4TB.
I have a 2018 12.9” iPad Pro, and at this time I have no need to upgrade it, particularly given that my user experience would pretty much be identical. If and when Apple changes the iPad Pro to be more useful, then I’ll consider the upgrade.
Upgraded from 2018 ipad pro 12.9 to 2021 m1 ipad and the experience even in hard to run games was the same… the only thing i noticed was the lidar was pretty useful and the display contrast was better
WiFi tests should be run separately rather than concurrently. Also note that the new iPad Pros do not support the 6 GHz band according to the technical specifications on the Apple web site for some reason.
@@syc92 I upgraded to the 2021 iPad Pro 12.9 from the 2018 and barely noticed any difference if you watch movies/ videos or even play games you won’t notice much difference except that the dark levels have improved but the blooming is the sacrifice. Honestly won’t recommend upgrading unless yours was bent like mine
The Pencil hovering feature is huge imo… Not even an artist, but I already know it would make the experience way better for me. But I’m sticking with my iPad Air 1 this time around. Let’s see what the bring next year.
I’ve already bought the M2 11 256GB cellular upgrading from 2017 10.5’ 256GB cellular. What a huge difference! I also got me the MK and Pencil 2. Great comparison guys. But please, do deeper comparisons to put the M2 extras into use. And definitely a battery/ power consumption test is a must. Thanks a ton.
Battery / efficiency tests would be great If the new M2 is more efficient and has better top performance for the same power draw - perfect If it consumes more all together - shoooo, no good
@@Dnest10 Everything my friend. My 2017 pro was rocking great until recently when the 4GB RAM and the 10X fusion started to show age. Also the battery after 5yrs of heavy use. I’m a developer, programmer, designer and eMarketing specialist. I do everything on my iPad Pro. I always laugh at people saying its just a media consumption device and a gaming tablet and it doesn’t need the power because of that and the limitations of iOS and then iPad OS! It’ll come to the user and his use case. It can be anything you want it to be. I ran my meetings, notes, preparations, MoM, calendar, reminders, mind maps, diagrams, drawings on it. I joined a class and used it as a student to capture the whiteboard and type, record the lecture audio, draw and annotate at the same time. No pen and paper come close, not even a laptop can have the cam and audio recording or pen functionality and portability or the built in PDF and documents support that Apple and this device have. The fluidity and wake-on touch with no BSOD or anti viruses, reliability and integration with their echo system. You go back home and everything is synced with your mac and even your phone. You can use it as a second screen and the continuity and universal control are amazing. I wanted Pencil 2, and had an eye on the MK although its bulky and stupidly doesn’t protect the sides or the pencil. And when M1 was released it was like a dream came true but I hardly held myself because Apple again cheaped out on some specs to sell future iPads, as always. I wanted the Mini LED like the one on its bigger brother (or sister), I wanted WiFi 6E for future proofing (although I use Unifi 6 network setup), and I wanted Bluetooth 5.2 for better range, lower consumption, better audio quality and future proofing. They didn’t deliver so I held on the 2017, but now this ticks most of the boxes and because the battery is dying and the RAM and CPU are not enough for me especially with multi tasking and video editing, I had to retire that one, actually give it away with the Pencil gen 1 to my 10yo son replacing his iPad mini 4 and buy me this futuristic piece of tech (I’m a tech freak, computer engineer). It’s flying fast, the RAM is plenty for ANYTHING, the new form factor and even the negligible 0.5’ difference size makes a little but noticeable difference when you open 2 apps side by side. Stage Manager. Even the speakers are better. The battery hardly shows decrements although I thought the M2 will chew into it, but maybe because its still new and I haven’t put it into heavy workflow yet. I hate they didn’t move to mini LED on the 11 and they didn’t move the cam to a landscape orientation (not that it’s a big deal), I hate they sold us another 5nm CPU and next year M3 will be on 3nm with much much better performance and efficiency! But I had to bite the bullet . I’m in the UK and the price went up from £750 for the base 11” model (£720 on Amazon UK) to £900 which is unfair and outrageous when it kept on $800 in the US. I was about to buy the M1 11” or 12.9” on eBay with a good price, struggling for a week until Apple released the M2. It was a tough decision to justify the price difference especially when they increased it. But I know about tech better than others and I appreciate even tiny differences that would make future proofing especially when more pro apps get released. I was hesitated to move to the 12.9”, to get the mini LED and the best screen real-estate but portability is a key. I carry it with me everywhere and I don’t intend to stick to my desk. I already have several computers there along with my MacBook Pro 14 and dual 27” displays for more serious workflows in programming or designing. Everything else I do it on the iPad, it is a computer for more than 80% of the tasks I have and can definitely replace a laptop for most people or students who don’t need a special SW that needs a desktop OS. I’m glad Davinci Resolve is coming and few more pro apps along with Apple’s Freeform app. And I know Apple is differentiating the iPad and wants to sell both iPads and Macs so MacOS wont come anytime soon, and I never asked for it. But I wish they release Xcode version for the ipad and hopefully the rest of their pro apps like Final Cut Pro and logic. I count more on 3rd party developers to bring their pro desktop level SW to this mighty little computer/ tablet, like Autodesk and more Adobe desktop SW, but currently there are alternatives on the ipad that gets the job done to a certain extent and for most people who appreciate this mighty invention and who are ready to learn new workflows away of what humans used to use for the past 40-50yrs. Sorry, didn’t intend to write this long but the Magic Keyboard really makes a difference and encourages you to type and type. Spending this amount on it though makes me feel sad when they comes up with a 2nd version with much needed function keys and maybe better protection. It’s heavy but I’m looking for a case compatible with the MK and adds Pencil holder and the much needed protection for the sides, and I don’t want to go for the Pitaka. And the likes. They are totally rubbish, breaks in few months and highly overpriced for what they are! I appreciate any advices regarding a case or anything makes life easier especially that I’m still new with the accessories for this thing. Good luck with your purchase, you’re not gonna regret it and it should last us years and years. Just received my Pencil 2 and intend to test the hover, double tap and everything. Excited as always. It cost me £1200 for the 256GB cellular instead of last year price of £999 (course without the Pencil and the MK). It’s outrageous but it’s a mighty beautiful super useful machine that would last me at least 4-5yrs without showing age, and I do use it for work, hence the pro, so I can justify it. For others with M1 or gaming and media consumption or light light tasks, they don’t need this power (maybe gamers do, but they can go for the Air, for me I think the Air only exists to lure you into the pro as for small price difference you get much more specs, unless you get it on a bargain!). Holly Molly, this magic keyboard really makes you go crazy! But I don’t think anybody would reach this far reading this long journal, lol 😂
Managed to snag my iPad Pro 11inch model for 100 bucks off so im glad I went with this ipad. I’m really happy with my iPad and loving everything about it.
Im buying an ipad for the first time in my life after waiting patiently for years. And decided to get the 12.9 inch M2 since ill be using it for a long time to come. It is overkill but at least it’ll last a few more updates in the future. I know the difference in performance will barely be utilized but my take on it is get the best model you currently can with your budget so it’ll last a few more years. Going to transfer from paper note taking to paperless and replacing my old laptop and using it as my only work, study and play device 😁 Will have to wait till december to get it tho 🙊
For me I just bought the M2. I don’t need all that power but it is just because the M2 will last longer in term of updates and new softwares comming out so I think it is worth it
@@adrianscosmos I just traded in my ipad pro 2018 and got an M2 certified refurbished from Apple. Went from 64GB to 512GB. The only downgrade was that there were some unsupported apps that did not transfer over to the new iPad Pro. Overall, my old iPad pro had no issues, but I realized if I waited any longer, the trade in/ selling value was going to be the worst.
The prices are ridiculous on those I bought the 2021 model for £1,050. IPad pro 12.9-inch . Now a few changes have been made a little bit quicker and they think it's worth £1.370. There is no point in having a Ferrari if you are stuck in a traffic jam. I haven't even used the power of mine there's no ios app that uses it. So what is the point?
Getting my Ipad Pro M2 tomorrow. I went for the M2 11 inch model just because I wanted something full proof and now that I'm using a tablet for work, travel and meetings much more than before. I was looking at the Galaxy Tab S8 but the problem with most android tablets and phones, 2-3 years later, they age terribly performance wise. I paid the higher price now but I know future/performance wise, I'll have no regrets. Buy it right the first time or buy it twice.
You do know that we skipping part in your video sometimes right? You didn't have any text indicate which one is old and which one is new when compare left-right. It's very hard to justify which one is what
The hover feature feels like that should've been an iPados 17 feature than an only to the M2 iPad pro. Sure it's better in some ways, but it's just an M1 iPad with an extra coat of paint. Upgrade users with old iPads I can see, but likely would go the cheaper route with the M1 unless they have the money for the M2
if ur choosing m1, be careful with the refurbished, since it’s preown there could be scratches/ minuscule damage. plus battery is not brand new. if anything buy the brand new ipad m1 for $899 instead, u save an extra $100 from the m2 price on apple
Yeah I'll definitely stick to my ipad pro M1 for another year or two. The M2 isn't all that better. For the price difference of m1 vs m2, a person can buy the magic keyboard for the ipad pro m1! 💯
I own the iPad Pro 11inch with M1, and honestly, it's out performed literally every tablet I've ever owned. And it even out performs my old windows laptop even. It's just nuts, I'mg going to wait of the M3 iPad Pro before I upgrade though.
May I ask, what is the price difference for the M1 vs the M2? I checked the links but they dont direct me to a good offer. Do you know if they dont even have a price difference? I checked amazon, currently both M1 and M2 base models are the same price.... its odd.
I have a 1st Gen, 9.7 in. iPad Pro. I have used and abused its butt off for 5 years and it's showing its age so, the M2 iPad Pro makes perfect sense to me.
I am willing to buy an IPad. both m1 and m2 have the same price here but with 256GB m1 and 128GB m2 is the 128 GB enough for notes and some games and movies or should I go for the M1? elp me plz
Which should I buy? $1,000 for an M1 12.9-Inch iPad Pro with Wi-Fi + Cellular - 256GB (Unlocked) or $950 for an M2 12.9-Inch iPad Pro with Wi-Fi - 128GB? I mainly use the iPad for productivity and media consumption. Both are new.
I am happy with my 11-inch iPad Pro M1, it helps me a lot for my design studies and to have some fun. I consider that it was an excellent purchase, instead of having thought about the M2.
I don’t like the landscape camera on top, because I can cover the camera with my hand when holding the iPad. I don’t need to put a sticker to cover it. I’m glad they didn’t change it.
@@flamingkillermc2806 That’s how I hold it, and that’s what I said. I like to keep the camera covered 99% of the time when I’m not using it. And I cover it with my finger when I’m holding it in landscape mode. I wouldn’t cover it if it was on top middle in landscape mode.
Not sure that just hitting Speedtest with both to test Wi-Fi is very good at indicating anything btw, there are so many factors in play that it just doesn’t mean anything
The biggest problem is that all the influencers hyped the upgrade in advance with all the things rumored to come. So everybody got disappointed with that specbump. There never was a Need to upgrade from the previous model. So everybody who has one of that just relax and safe your money. Just be happy that you dont have to spend anything on this years model. For me personally. I got disappointed to, because i was in the market for a new ipad and i was in the hype, too. I finally decided to buy a M2 1TB cellular model. This is 2200€ here in Germany. I could have bought a M1 for 2170€. If you look at the base model 130€ might matter, but with the model i chose it doesnt make that much of a difference. And given, that that iPad should serve me for the years to come i went with the newer one.
I’ve been Using the M1 iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen (512gb plus 5g cellular) for over 2 years. I don’t have a single complaint in my 2 years of owning this. (Besides battery life could be slightly better) It does absolutely everything I throw at it, without any hiccups. I’ll use this ipad until it becomes as slow as a turtle.
I have an iPad air 2 which is running seamlessly for past 8-9 years. But recently I am thinking to upgrade to newer versions - specifically 11 inch iPad Pro series. Please recommend which one should I go for- iPad Pro M1 or M2?
It’s because you did the internet speed tests at the same time. Also internet changes and is fickle all the time you need to do several tests one at a time to see the actual internet performance.
Been rocking an 11" M1 Pro for the last year. I'm very pleased and have found during longer Lumafusion tasks that it's actually beneficial to ventilate the body of the iPad to increase performance. So I cut a 2" hole over the Apple logo on a cheap gel case (just used a hole saw) and saw meaningful speed increases over just using the case alone. It seems one would be better off getting the M1 with 1TB and 16GB of RAM over the M2 for most power users, with casual users befitting more from the M2. I would be very interested in battery life and thermals. Another great video!!
Is the M2 iPad Pro worth $800? Let me know!

I have upgraded in January to an M1 iPad Pro from a 7 years old Air 2. Night and day difference. Will probably keep the new one for at least 4 years.
I want to upgrad from 2017 Ipad pro but want a much bigger chance miniled in 11 inch and the horizontal camera. If it comes i will upgrade next year or 2024 with discount on Black Friday. At this point my Ipad is fast enough for another year…
Bad choice, a discounted m1 would have been a better pick…
@@lino100x100 Yes, but when you have the money and has waiting and using a ipad so long why not…in Germany it is the badest price increase over 200$, in Germany hands down M1
My M1 iPad Pro is still by far one of my absolute favourite Apple devices.
I think when you take into account the M1 iPads being discounted as much as 200$ brand new, and much more so used, the M1 comes out on top even with the M2’s performance bump
Until Apple actually utilizes the power of the M1 and M2 chips, no one need to upgrade anything. I know it is tempting but trust me on this.
Are amazon refurbished apple’s products as good as apple’s own refurbished?
@@ToxicBlue It’s the equivalent of an open box product from BestBuy. My iPad was described as being in excellent condition and it looked brand new, but came in a generic box and had a non-Apple charger. What I’d say is this: if you don’t have an iPad and want the top of the line, go get the M2. If you don’t need the latest and want to save some while getting a high end iPad, get the M1
And if you’re on the A12Z or M1 iPad Pros, hold off for another 1-2 years. Same applies to anyone on any iPad sold since 2020, with the exception to users on the 7th gen iPad base model. (Key word, sold).
I can’t say that for the EU since the new iPad got 170€ more expensive

I have a 1st gen iPad Air, which was obviously suffering from increasing problems in being unable to upgrade software, etc. (It is still fine for reading my digital books and some older games.) In any event, I was interested in an upgrade, opting for my 12.9" 6th gen iPad Pro M2. It is a beautiful machine. I know it has caught a lot of flack here for cost, minimal bump over predecessor, etc., but I like it very much. Just my 2 cents.
Lol literally same here! I’m coming from the iPad Air 1st gen too. What are we supposed to do with our old ones now?
That's hilarious I just upgraded my 2015 ipad air today to the smaller ipad pro. The 2015 ipad was just too slow to do much of anything
Idk what people do with their cables that they break I have never had an Apple cable break and my family has used iOS devices since the iPad 2
Also yes I know the cables don’t have the like pressure tension relief thingy on the end because Apple thinks it looks ugly and I wanted to say I have the m2 as well and have been loving it just wish they made like a 15 inch version
Yup the hover feature on samsung (and other pens based on the Wacom technology) have had "hover" for quite some time!
@@markanthonyartI remember that pen hover feature on my Galaxy Note 3 yewrs ago.
@@alainsabelloSame! Miss that phone.
Great video! From someone who’s in nursing school and upgraded to the 12.9 M2 from the 9th gen, the pencil hover is pretty nice. This helps with scanning the videos for school without having to actually move the video itself.
The reason for the speedometer difference: iPadOS 15.7.1 vs 16.1, if you update it will get faster on the M1 also.
Picked up the 12.9” M2. Loving Gbps speeds with Wi-Fi 6E. The Pencil Hover feature is actually pretty useful and the UI feels great.
@@fmax30000 that doesn't change the fact that there are performance improvements in iPadOS 16 which bring the M1 closer to the M2.
I upgrade to the 2021 IPad Pro 12.9 from my 2013 IPad Air. What an upgrade.
Thank you for all the comparisons, no other youtuber does this in depth.
Just got a renewed iPad Pro 12.9 M1 Cellular 128gb from Amazon for $750. It was absolutely perfect like new. Same configuration is $1,299 from apple.
holy shit thats a good price
Where did you get this deal I’ve looked on Amazon and it’s like £900 still
I’ve got iPad Pro 12.9 m1 and this is absolutely the best tablet i ever had. Pure perfection. It’s hard to imagine how would be looks like better tablet. 😊
The amazing thing is that modern iPads generally have a significant usable lifetime. Upgrading after 1 year is almost never necessary. To summarize my thoughts:
- If you currently have an M1, you probably don't need to upgrade unless you absolutely need the performance and/or hover features.
Yeah pretty much.
@@qwertyouriop2 Nomad, procreate and other apps always squeeze the power of the iPad. Don’t they?
That's only true in US, in Europe we're having over 170€ increases
The Bad
1) The rumors are true, light bleed is BAD on this thing in dark rooms.
The Good
1) The speakers are second to none when compared to any other tablet or phone.
I wish the 11inch ipad pro got XDR/oled panel. 12.9inch too big for me
OLED sucks.
Not worth the upgrade. The pencil hover is a cool feature they should have implemented in the M1.
WiFi tests should be run separately rather than concurrently. Also note that the new iPad Pros do not support the 6 GHz band according to the technical specifications on the Apple web site for some reason.
Better update than the iPad 10th Gen. Totally agree. Don't worth updating from M1, not even from A12X/Z for most users.
I have the A12X, works like I just bought it yesterday, honestly I can't find any reason to upgrade
Fully agree. I used to upgrade every year before A12x. Another year I guess. Battery is in need of replacement tough
@@syc92 I upgraded to the 2021 iPad Pro 12.9 from the 2018 and barely noticed any difference if you watch movies/ videos or even play games you won’t notice much difference except that the dark levels have improved but the blooming is the sacrifice. Got my 5th gen iPad Pro 12.9inch for $500 from a friend, and it’s the cellular model. What a deal I got!!

Great comparison guys. But please, do deeper comparisons to put the M2 extras into use. And definitely a battery/ power consumption test is a must. Thanks a ton.
Battery / efficiency tests would be great
If the new M2 is more efficient and has better top performance for the same power draw - perfect
If it consumes more all together - shoooo, no good
What were some of the changes you noticed between the two devices? My M2 12.9 is being delivered today. I also upgraded from the 2017 largest iPad Pro
I’m also upgrading from the 10.5. Can’t wait

Where to use all this performance with an iPad? Weather app?
Yeah I do too know it’s not worth it. I just buy the M1 12.9 by a great discount and I do love it
Getting my Ipad Pro M2 tomorrow.
At the end of the day just buy what makes you happy as long as you can afford it.

Non-serious artists don’t get the importance of the hover feature. Including this guy.
I own the iPad Pro 11inch with M1, and honestly, it's out performed literally every tablet I've ever owned. And it even out performs my old windows laptop even.
It's just nuts, I'mg going to wait of the M3 iPad Pro before I upgrade though.
I’m a 2018 32G 6th Generation user. I’ve updated to M2 tablet, which run over all the other tablet on market.
May I ask, what is the price difference for the M1 vs the M2? I checked the links but they dont direct me to a good offer. Do you know if they dont even have a price difference? I checked amazon, currently both M1 and M2 base models are the same price.... its odd.

I am willing to buy an IPad. both m1 and m2 have the same price here but with 256GB m1 and 128GB m2 is
the 128 GB enough for notes and some games and movies or should I go for the M1? elp me plz
I can't say anything about Apple devices, just because I never use it before.
But really this channel.
Did they improve the screen of the 12? Still blooming in the dark?
Speakers are the same? Dont change the sound quality?
Which should I buy? $1,000 for an M1 12.9-Inch iPad Pro with Wi-Fi + Cellular - 256GB (Unlocked) or $950 for an M2 12.9-Inch iPad Pro with Wi-Fi - 128GB? I mainly use the iPad for productivity and media consumption. Both are new.
Which one is good for regular use? 11 inch or 12.9 inch? I'm very confused.
i am using samsung galaxy note 10 plus from 2019 and the stylus can hover ....
Please do a deep dive on reference mode in sidecar for professional use cases. It’s so vague and confusing
I am happy with my 11-inch iPad Pro M1, it helps me a lot for my design studies and to have some fun. I consider that it was an excellent purchase, instead of having thought about the M2.
@מיכאל רוב if you think you need more performance for your iPad, better go for something more advanced, if you need it
hey, can you please tell me how's your ipad's battery performance holding? any huge overnight drops?
Do these tests have different results if the iPad Pro is plugged in?
The comparison is not entirely fair. iPads have different iPadOS versions: 15.7.1 vs 16.1
Is that the larger sized ipad?
Thumbs up for the flash warning. Thanks!
Thanks for the review... I just placed an order for an M1 11" at Best Buy for $595 (Open Box - Excellent) 🙂
so in short if i have not buy ipad yet, better go for M2 chip?
or i buy M1 budgets ipad air 5?
Can you give us some information about the batteries? How many hours of use does it provides?
I don’t like the landscape camera on top, because I can cover the camera with my hand when holding the iPad. I don’t need to put a sticker to cover it. I’m glad they didn’t change it.
but people hold ipad pros in landscape mode 😂😂😂, hope they change it on the next model
And what about black screen problems on the M1 ? did they fix it on the M2 or still acting like nothing happened and everything is okay !!!
did he just said that we can get that for 630$, idk where he gets them from but for me their above 900€
Not sure that just hitting Speedtest with both to test Wi-Fi is very good at indicating anything btw, there are so many factors in play that it just doesn’t mean anything
From an A12X iPad Pro, should I go with brand new M1 or M2 open-box with 10 months of warranty left M2 with the same price?
Would you say it’s worth an upgrade from the 2018 iPad Pro? That’s what I have and I’m on the fence about upgrading.
I also have a 2018 iPad Pro and I use Procreate often and I don’t see the need to upgrade.
But they will release Davinci Resolve for iPad, im certain it will use the complete power of the M2.
While iPad is 16 beta was introduced ACCIDENTALLY worked on my iPad Pro M1 but with an update it didn’t work anymore
The problem is in other region the prize of ipad pros doesn’t change or discounted
Still on the 2018 iPad Pro 11inch with the A12X chip and no plans to upgrade tbh
There is an iPad Pro 11” M2 Cellular Unlocked 128gb for $700 I’m thinking of buying! I hope it’s a good deal?
The M2 is only necessary for artists who want the pencil hover feature (which is very good). I’m an artist and getting the M2 was a no brainer.
Pencil hover is good. Mini LED is also boss - latter on the 12.9 of course
Can I ask: Any apps or any feature of latest version of IPADOS that can run on M2, but cannot run on M1 ?
Been rocking an 11" M1 Pro for the last year. I'm very pleased and have found during longer Lumafusion tasks that it's actually beneficial to ventilate the body of the iPad to increase performance. So I cut a 2" hole over the Apple logo on a cheap gel case (just used a hole saw) and saw meaningful speed increases over just using the case alone.
It seems one would be better off getting the M1 with 1TB and 16GB of RAM over the M2 for most power users, with casual users befitting more from the M2.
I would be very interested in battery life and thermals. Another great video!!
lol damn
@@takoflame4948 The hole I cut was in the case, not the actual body of the iPad. My fault for being vague. Lol
hey, can you please tell me how's the battery life going in your ipad? are there any huge overnight drops(10-15%)?
@@justanescape2649 It's been solid. No big overnight drops. 1-2%, tops.
@@DBravo29er thanks for the info. 👍
still have my 2020 m1 and still no issues.
