I have both a MacBook air m3 and an iPad Pro m2- I am in love with the iPad. Especially with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The touch pad clicks perfectly in a way the MacBook doesn’t. The screen is brighter . It just feels amazing. The ipad is still primarily a media consumption device. Reading articles, taking notes and drawing works really well. But I've yet to see anyone use an ipad pro as their primary work machine.
✋🏻Yup! I use mine for drawing/ painting with my pencil and media consumption. No major work on it. Use my MBP for that. Then I use my iPad as an extra monitor.
I used my IPad Pro 12.9” 2nd Gen for productivity for about 95% of my work, only missing minor PDF and file management and some easier editing work. Liked the screen and portability.
I think the iPad is easier and computer is needed only when you hit some wall… like “I need to format this drive” or “there still not a (good) app for this”,
Like every year, the answer to the question on whether iPads can replace MacBooks is… it depends, and really it doesn’t matter. Some people can and some people can’t. But that isn’t a bad thing because you should buy the tool that works best for you. If you reverse the question and ask whether a MacBook can be an iPad replacement, I’d say the answer is also maybe. Buy what you like.
I have both. The iPad is essential to me for media consumption and drawing (procreate), and most of my email and internet activity. The Mac does database and web development, and some of my writing (I’m a writer). So, both make it work for me, each doing what it does better than the other. Sent from my iPad!
Agreed! Both devices have their own distinct uses. As a teacher, the iPad is great for lessons- I use it instead of writing on a white board. It also helps me model what I want students to do on their own devices. The computer helps me with word processing (forms and plans), using spreadsheets, video conferencing, and other web-based programs. Pretty much everything else the iPad isn’t used for. For many people, buying both products can’t be justified and I will always suggest buying a computer over a tablet simply because of the current incapabilities in iPad OS.
@@itsjohnny4267 I only had an iPad before a MacBook because I already had a PC for computer functions… I do think you need any kind of computer first but now with an iPad / MacBook combo the workflow is very neat.
As someone who does a lot of creative writing I'm debating which to get some I have a smaller form factor over my hefty Pro laptop. Would you still pick the Macbook Air for writing over an iPad with keyboard?
Wow the iPad speakers sound so good. And as someone who has one I can say it’s not too far behind the 14” MacBook Pro I have. But not quite there yet. It’s just so crazy that I have a TABLET that’s faster than not only any other tablet, but 98% of laptops! Great vid as usual. Max Tech is the 🐐!!
I have a powerful gaming PC with a massive monitor and I needed something for portability. I ended up choosing an iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard 12.9 over M2 MacBook Air and I absolutely love it. It is so much more fun to use than a computer.
My M1 iPad Pro has replaced my old MacBook. It’s an awesome machine that is artificially limited by Apple. It will do almost everything most people need
I waffled back and forth when getting my M1 iPad 13” as to whether a MacBook Air or iPad would be better. I decided that, for me, the iPad with the Logitech Combo Touch would be more flexible. I’m able to do most everything that I need on it. However, when I find that I need more power or desktop-level apps, I can use Splashtop to connect to my Mac Mini (from wherever I’m at) and use those higher-level apps. It has worked well over this past year, giving me the best of both worlds.
I bought the new M2 iPad and I have zero complaints. I use it for studying and is perfect for my use and the user experience I find more satisfying then my MacBook Pro.
@@saiiiii8683 it last me a day from studying at 8 am - 4 pm and watching videos and playing games in the evening // I recon 10/12 hours of nonstop use depending on the screen brightness
Apple simply wants you to have to purchase both devices. There is no reason to cripple the Ipad transfer speeds or prevent it from using Mac OS. It's why some people, including me, purchase Surface Pro's instead. The Apple Ipad hardware is a little better, but it is crippled by the OS.
Exactly! I am going Surface Pro next go around. It ends up being cheaper than if you were to buy an ipad pro and macbook air. Especially when the Surface Pro goes on sale.
@@Michael-ur5qb Yes, the Surface Pro 8 on upcoming sales should be a great value. The 9 is only a small upgrade, so a good opportunity to get a bargain.
Excellent review. I recently bought both, I know I am fortunate, but I use both throughout the day for different situations. If I could only have one, it would be the MacBook Air.
I guess I'm looking forward, and noticing that iPad Pros could be the next "all-in-one" device. The flexibility that they provide is insane. I have a laptop, but wanted a tablet size form factor. So the iPad Pro 11" M2 wound up being the device I purchased. But if I'm the future, they release an iPad Mini Pro, I will definitely buy that one when released. For the time being, the iPad Pro 11" M2 will be absolutely sufficient for my personal needs.
To be fair, as far as authentication goes, The Apple Watch can also serve as a way to authenticate you on the Mac and have you log in automatically, so in that respect it is faster than FaceID (since you have to swipe up on the iPad to login)
There is a part of me that thinks that adding MacOS to the iPad would totally drain the battery. I do think this could potentially one reason that this hasn’t happened in addition to Apple not wanting iPads to cannibalize MacBooks. I could be totally off with this assessment, but believe there may be some merit to this reasoning.
Hardware-wise, huge compromises have been made to the iPads aside from the battery in order to keep the size and weight down. They really are two very different animals despite sharing some important hardware. Kind of like how you can find a Honda Civic engine in an Ariel Atom. Well... is it fast.. yes. But compromises have been made as well - hope you like no effective windscreen, heater, roof...
Unless you need the Apple Pencil, comparing 512GB models, to get the iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard you’re gonna spend nearly the same for the significantly more powerful and functional base 14” MacBook Pro with current deals. Both are miniLED 120Hz displays, but the 14” MBP gets you bigger display, much more connectivity, better speakers, and full featured OS. I have the M1 12.9 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and the M1 MacBook Air, and I basically only use the iPad for watching videos/movies.
I think the question shouldn’t be can the iPad be a laptop but are laptops still necessary because the iPad can do what most people use a laptop for anyway which is videos web browsing and light gaming and it is a lot easier for those who have difficulty using a computer and I think the reason a lot of people don’t like the iPad is they try to make it a laptop instead of a really really good tablet which is what it is
Apple never wants iPad Pro as Macbook equivalent even if they have similar chips. You know it is marketing concerns. Apple wants you to buy Macbook too so they limit iPad software between an iphone and Macbook.
I bought the M1 MacBook Air out of necessity for the very few things it does that my iPad Pro cannot and not because I like using the Macbook. I wish I could get rid of it. What’s frustrating is that the iPads limitations are 100% software and could all be remedied with a software update.
So, in summary (w/o any politeness filter applied): - Ipad: heavier than a M2 macbook air; top-heavy when used with a magic-keyboard; charging speed is terrible, battery life is terrible, no full OSX support, thicker than a macbook M2! - Macbook air M2: screen in 2022 standards is abysmal (WTH, Apple?); speakers suck I could live with the bad speakers of the macbook air M2, but the screen is such a massive fail, I wouldn't even buy this device when it was 50% cheaper. Conclusion: The *only* way to go is the 14" macbook pro. Excellent screen, good speakers, battery & performance is really good. I wish, Apple would offer the M2 macbook air with a better screen.
While the iPad has vastly improved in utility over the years, and can be configured the same as a basic work laptop, it's still not a great laptop if typing is your primary input. The Pencil is the reason for the iPad, for content creators. The iPad excels as a drawing tablet. Pro/Con: iOS has its own ecosystem of apps, many of which are not on MacOS, and are essentially built around touch/draw interface. With M chip iPads, there doesn't seem to be any reason not to be able to run MacOS/apps, but it is what it is. Two different tools for different sets of use cases, with a fair amount of overlap in-between. If you can only buy/carry one, the question is: "Do you mostly type, or do you mostly draw?"
Nice. I would love to see a Stage Manager multitask comparison between the iPads. If you have a desktop, newer iPads are a perfect addition, I just wonder how they would handle serious multitasking. On my Mac Mini 16Gb, memory pressure stays yellow most of the time.
For me personally im in a weird position where i prefer to work on a pc but prefer the apple eco system. i do engineering for work but i draw for fun. i might just go with the ipad and hope it gets better since it has a lot of potential software wise. An iPad could become a Macbook replacement one day but a Macbook could never replace an iPad.
Thank you for the comparison but each point is debatable based on the use each person makes of each model. For me, I use mail, web and MS office and IOS office does not run VBA files ( files with macros ) and opening and closing a file is an import and export procedure and you lose a lot of functions in your files during this process. Therefore I just ordered a well equipped MacBook Air. If the IPad Pro would of operated the MS office files similarly to MacOS, then for sure I would of taken an IPad Pro. I’m sure it’s a question of time where IPad will operate like a Mac but we’re just not there yet.
Pretty good, something you could add is using them in a dock like setup. Setting both up with an external monitor, mouse, keyboard & dock. I imagine using an iPad Pro like a laptop connected to its dock(for using numbers, pages, working) with a mouse & keyboard then disconnecting it for media consumption(TH-cam, social media, games etc.) when you leave your desk. I think the external monitor support & functionality on the iPad would be important in this use case. Although I think right now you might need 16.2 beta. If you find this idea interesting enough you could do it when 16.2 goes public or whatever version ends up with monitor support & stage manager. 👍
As a tech reviewer I don’t see how you guys miss the ipad critical use cases as it can be a cellular device for 20$ a month unlimited..it can be used anywhere and everywhere without connecting to Wi-Fi.it has its own number to connect to other people.FaceTime etc.it can be used with your AirPod maxes instantaneously..i believe the iPad wins off ease of use..
The problem with iPadOS for me, is the browsers. I work on developing/administering business platforms (SharePoint Online, Dynamics and Salesforce) and I can't do it using the browsers on the iPad, even when requesting the Desktop Sites. I need MacOS in order to use a device for work.
It's unfortunate Apple intentionally hinders the Ipad Pros from becoming full out Mac replacements. This is most likely because of a business decision by Apple to keep the Mac sales going which actually doesn't make sense when you dig into the facts about it. Ipads are more than powerful enough to run anythimg a Mac can run and I use my iPad as my main primary device and as a music producer I absolutely love it. If Apple would actually bring more professional Apps to the iPad it could easily replace a MacBook. Infact when I go back to use a tesdional Mac OS system I find it outdated and old and prefer the layout of iPad OS. Laptops in general are getting old and outdated and really believe Tablets are the future when it comes to mobile computers
There are many features about the iPad I like, but the iPad Pages app is annoying to me. I wish they would use a menu system like on the full program or, better yet, display the menus similar to Word.
with that kind of battery life in ipad, you want a full blown desktop OS on ipad??

It's kind of sad that apple doesen't make convertibles like other brands. The macbook would be perfect if it could be bought with at least a toch screen. The problem is that you either get an ipad, which is amazing for note taking and some more casual tasks or an macbook, which is great at more professional oriented tasks like video editing, but lacks any useful functionality as anything more than a boring laptop. Editing videos, photos etc on an ipad is possible, but the apps are significantly more limited and not for professional use, compared to their PC / mac counterparts.
I chose M1 iPad Pro + magic keyboard + apple pencil over Macbook back in 2021 and i never regretted. it actually is a mini laptop for me and does even more than any laptop can do thanks to apple pencil. it offers so much, i don't see a reason why would i need a macbook if i have to choose between the 2. especially for my needs.
Which one to buy? Neither. The M2 is a waste of money. Mac: Buy a used/refurbished M1 MacBook Air or a 14" MacBook Pro if you really need more power. iPad: Buy an M1 model or even a 2020 Pro model. IPadOS doesn't really use the M1 effectively and the 2020 model has the same display, case and form factor and is plenty quick.
I was so disillusioned by my maxed out M2 iPad Pro 12.9 that I returned it and got a Max Studio instead. The software limitations (especially the horrendous mouse acceleration), the weight (a complete setup weighed more than my company issued 14'' MacBook Pro), etc. etc. made it not worth the price. The Mac Studio (max version not ultra) is priced in the same range as the iPad Pro but it offers so much more productivity-wise
I say despite its shortcomings, I think the M2 IPad Pro would be a great pick for me. I orginally wanted a new tablet to replace my Samsung Tab S5e for media consumption and mobile gaming. However, I started learning on how effective the Apple Desktop chips can do for productivity such as photo/video editing. I normal do all my editing on one of my window desktops PCs, however I am not a expert at the software so it takes a while for me. Having the power of the M2 chip on a tablet size form is honestly amazing for me because I can edit content on the go and can still be much faster than a regular windows desktop. Sure the editing software on Ipad is not the full coverage of the desktop counterparts, but for simple editing for videos in YT or Tiktok, it can really make things easier for me to produce them. Overall, I am picking up the M2 IPad Pro for my tablet replacement but also being a powerful All in One device.
While iPad have iPadOs there's really nothing to compare. A professional would buy always a macos/windows machine for the much more endless possibilities these machines can offer. But as a secondary device it's perfect.
Apple needs to start thinking about cramming MacOS and iOS into a single package with 2 different operation modes (Mac style and Tablet style). If this sounds like an Apple Lisa, it's because that's exactly what they should be doing. At the logic board level a Mac and an iPad are becoming frustratingly the same!
Logitech Combo Touch Case/Keyboard/Trackpad is better than Apple's existing offering for iPad Pro - offers more protection, has function keys, separates from the device while retaining kickstand - funny how similar Apple's new iPad keyboard is to it...
I didn’t get. So, is there any dependency in storage value and read/write speed? At the moment I don’t have an iPad, but I want to buy one with M2 chip. But I don’t want to face with this SSD-issue as I can in MacBooks. Internal speed is a very hot topic for me.
I’m just here just to check how much ip can replace mb. Tablet is tablet. Whatever it can do laptop work is bonus. Ip already is the king in writing, reading and drawing departments.
Hey Max & team, thank you for your hard work! I love your in depth videos, but this video lacked some valid points in my opinion. For example you didn’t mention that the letterboxed area of the screen of the iPad Pro is much smaller when watching videos because of the aspect ratio. Your standard 16:9 video just looks much wider on the MacBook Air and I much prefer that, despite the inferior display quality. Secondly you didn’t talk about the big plus for the iPad that one can buy a 5G version, which you you obviously don’t get on the MacBook Air. Keep up your good quality! All the best, take care.
@Max Tech I really enjoy and appreciate your reviews. I really hope and wish you would add an additional sound test / comparison of talking only. So playing one of your previous videos to give a sound impression of a podcast or video with just talking. Thanks!
Thank you for a great comparison. I love the easy use of some of the iPad apps (LumaFusion for example) and the handholding for reading. But more and more I am getting sick of the shortcomings on the iPad. I agree with you that some of those shortcomings like the disastrous files app must be intentional as they would be easy to fix. I own the last gen MacBook Air and it was already good. The new one looks like the perfect end of a long evolution. There is not a lot of room to improve. It may be time to leave the iPad behind 😢
As much as I love my m1 iPad Pro, I still much prefer my m2 air MacBook for everyday usage. Though I do love using my iPad to watch Netflix in the kitchen while I’m cooking, it definitely has some fantastic speakers.
Guys, the iPad is not a laptop, even with a keyboard attached. Why are you wasting time trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?? Why have you stopped making videos featuring gaming on your Mac? Especially with Resident Evil Village out, and getting some great reviews?
I really wonder what was in their head when they decided to add 2 cameras on the back of the Ipad. who goes out and take pictures with an Ipad???? on this form factor having a phenomenal front facing camera makes sense .. the back camera is almost useless
I feel like I misheard but how do you download and use Lightroom for iPad on the MacBook? im trying to reduce the monthly cost and get a $4.99 plan that ill mostly use on the iPad but occasionally on the MacBook Air m2.
Very helpful and practical comparison. Artist here. I need my laptop replacement to be able to sketch. The iPad Pro is great for that but does not run the main digital painting app. I use (Rebelle). Would love to be able to have my Mac Mini as my desktop and iPad Pro as my laptop/tablet without having a Macbook which is not sketch capable but works great with pen tablet and pen display. I still have the iPad Pro 4th Gen and will not be getting the M2 iPad Pro (maybe the M3). Main deal breaker-the portrait front camera is barely useable for zoom etc. due to being annoying for someone to not look at you hardly at all while talking. Also, the file manager is OK but also annoying as stated in the video. So, the iPad Pro not there yet for laptop replacement for me.
This has convinced me to m go for a lower spec iPad and get an external drive and spend the saved money on a new Mac Book if they are even gonna be worth it
Just so you know, since the 2022 Adobe Max, Lightroom CC on Mac and Windows gained GPU Acceleration for exports but the iPad didn't (it did not even get anything new in Photoshop and LR still lacks many features from the Desktop version without any reason, Adobe is restricting the iPad voluntary...). From what we saw before this new version of LR, the iPad Pro M1 was faster than the Macbook Airs and Pros M1 on exports meaning that when Adobe FINALLY upgrades the Mobile version for iPad, exporting files will likely become faster on the tablet than it is on the Laptops.
Also, there are many ways to increase an iPad's battery life, unlike MacBooks. An iPad, like an iPhone, has many customizable features that can increase its battery consumption, knowing how to use an iPad, again, like an iPhone, can dramatically change your usage of it. Oh and please stop telling people to buy a fast charge brick, it is destroying the battery! Learn how to charge your devices and only use fast charge when you need it..
Do you think that Applies is ditching Final Cut Pro for Davinci resolve?? I’ve looked into Davinci Resolve and I guess it works across the board from Apples to Windows and the pro edition is one time pay, so you don’t need subscriptions.
Unless you have a very specific niche of work use for one (pilots, architects, building constructors, etc) most people would be FAR better off getting an MBA M2 over an iPad Pro. Apple deliberately designs iPad OS to not cannibalize Mac OS, so it will never truly be a laptop replacement. I treat iPads as media consumption devices, and I enjoy them far more for that purpose. I’ll take my Mini 6 over an IPad Pro 12.9 any day of the week, but if an iPad Pro actually works for you as a productivity device for your job, then more power to you!
As a owner of the iPad Pro & the MacBook, I personally would choose the MacBook Air over the M2 iPad Pro, iPads are great but the MacBook Air M2 is awesome. I have been using the iPhone 14 Pro Max 512GB over a month now & it was a good upgrade from my iPhone 12 Pro Max.
May I ask why you prefer the macbook air over ipad pro? I also have an ipad pro, but have a malfunctioning, older non-mac laptop. I’m still contemplating whether I need to invest on a macbook when I already have an iPad Pro. Any comments would be welcome
Max, I tip my hat for your storage speed test. This is incredibly useful for us that have to take a machine on the go, I use my M1 Air mostly as a backup machine when traveling. Keep these tests please. And thank you for spending your time doing this. (It is a shame Apple is crippling the Thunderbolt port on the iPad, that thing would be wonderful as a off-the-beaten-path backup solution). Cheers.
The two iPad dealbreakers for me? Corrupted external SSD drives, & inadequate file management. So long as iPads are plagued with these issues, they are not even a consideration.
I personally wouldn’t even use a MacBook Pro if iPad Pro had Mac OS. As of now I use my iPad Pro paired with the keyboard more than my laptop. Suits my lifestyle. (Edit) I bought a MacBook. It works best paired with the iPad while in school.

But that isn’t a bad thing because you should buy the tool that works best for you. If you reverse the question and ask whether a MacBook can be an iPad replacement, I’d say the answer is also maybe. Buy what you like.
I'm probably the only one, but I wish they'd bring back the 11" MacBook Air with an M2. I had an OG 11" Air and it was my favorite laptop ever.
Not to mention those work very well when being used at the same time.
MacOS is so far superior to ipadOS that its no comparison.
Just use Center Stage for the iPad front camera and it centers your face to the middle of your screen.
If they didn’t have the fancy LiDAR sensor on the iPads it could be cheaper and maybe even a single lens.
Better to buy MacBook m2 better than iPad Pro
I bought the new M2 iPad and I have zero complaints. I use it for studying and is perfect for my use and the user experience I find more satisfying then my MacBook Pro.
Yup, my 2022 12.9 M2 is amazing. Love watching movies with the display/ speakers! Also having cellular is a plus.
How’s the battery life?
@@saiiiii8683 it last me a day from studying at 8 am - 4 pm and watching videos and playing games in the evening // I recon 10/12 hours of nonstop use depending on the screen brightness
@@aGAvantz Thanks. Pretty excited to get one☺️☺️
Did you get the 11 or 12.9?
A Pro Mini would be game changer!
Facts i have my 12.9 M2 iPad Pro for going on a month now, we got Final Cut Pro, Logic pro and Davinci Resolve working
To be fair, as far as authentication goes, The Apple Watch can also serve as a way to authenticate you on the Mac and have you log in automatically, so in that respect it is faster than FaceID (since you have to swipe up on the iPad to login)
But doesn’t work every time- experience on my iMac 2017
The new M2 ipad Pro is the holy grail of professional painter. It's something that no other tablet can offer.
I have both, and they're both excellent in different use cases but having both really works well.
These comparisons always come to the same conclusion: depends on what you use it for and what you can afford.
I bought the M1 MacBook Air out of necessity for the very few things it does that my iPad Pro cannot and not because I like using the Macbook. I wish I could get rid of it. What’s frustrating is that the iPads limitations are 100% software and could all be remedied with a software update.
What limitations did you encounter?
So, in summary (w/o any politeness filter applied):
- Ipad: heavier than a M2 macbook air; top-heavy when used with a magic-keyboard; charging speed is terrible, battery life is terrible, no full OSX support, thicker than a macbook M2!
- Macbook air M2: screen in 2022 standards is abysmal (WTH, Apple?); speakers suck
I could live with the bad speakers of the macbook air M2, but the screen is such a massive fail, I wouldn't even buy this device when it was 50% cheaper.
Conclusion:
The *only* way to go is the 14" macbook pro.
I have a midnight M2 Macbook Air and it is literally PERFECT
There’s only one solution: become rich and buy both! SUPER easy 😂
Did u get an iPad?😊
@@jsnsnssnnsn yes I did
For the general user I think the iPad is better, with the added bonus of the pencil and functionality.
It will never happen
Yeah, I tried switching to and ipad as I am a very basic user but no macros in excel had me returning to macOS
I'd love to have that setup and use sidecar
As a tech reviewer I don’t see how you guys miss the ipad critical use cases as it can be a cellular device for 20$ a month unlimited..it can be used anywhere and everywhere without connecting to Wi-Fi.it has its own number to connect to other people.FaceTime etc.it can be used with your AirPod maxes instantaneously..i believe the iPad wins off ease of use..
Nailed it thanks for the comprehensive review. I have the iPad Pro 2nd gen and it’s exactly as you say with iOS vs MacOS
Wish I could dock my iPhone onto a monitor and save all that money… Bluetooth accessories and you’re set!
Very comprehensive video. Thanks. Yes what we need is dual boot and also a bigger iPad. 14 inch or 16 inch
Great review, unbiased, willing to give credit where credit is due, but also critical of obvious weaknesses of each of the the two devices.
This what I have once I knew the same chip is used I knew to get this
Which one to buy?
Perfecto
Pretty much my current setup. M1 MacBook Pro for real stuff and iPad Pro 11 2020 for mobile media consumption around the house
Are you gonna make a M2 vs SQ3 video? I can't wait to see that!
😮😊
So the laptop is better for using on your lap? Huh, who would’ve thought 😊
Do a video where you compare exactly the same products as this video but upgrade the MacBook Air to match the price of iPad Pro.
That is more fair because the $1499 of the Air is probably more comparable
No comparison one is touch screen and the other is not…its simply a matter of preference and mobility.
Your detail and compared information are so helpful and so easy to understand to me, thanks 😊
Logitech Combo Touch Case/Keyboard/Trackpad is better than Apple's existing offering for iPad Pro - offers more protection, has function keys, separates from the device while retaining kickstand - funny how similar Apple's new iPad keyboard is to it...
Other then battery life i much prefer the M1 i pad air to my M1 MacBook Air to do basically anything especially with the manic keyboard
Dang bro really knows his stuff. Full of info. Thanks!
I use the ipad 9 for photo Editing. It is way faster in rendering than my i7 7700hq with 16 GB RAM
Thanks!
Can you compare it to a price matched MacBook next time bc they have very different prices
What do you use on the Mac To see the temperature?
Thank you for a great comparison. I love the easy use of some of the iPad apps (LumaFusion for example) and the handholding for reading. But more and more I am getting sick of the shortcomings on the iPad. I agree with you that some of those shortcomings like the disastrous files app must be intentional as they would be easy to fix. I own the last gen MacBook Air and it was already good. The new one looks like the perfect end of a long evolution. There is not a lot of room to improve. It may be time to leave the iPad behind 😢
That NCS walking guy is always my favourite part of these reviews. I can’t be the only one.
So Jazz Disk Bench is unable to measure the performance to the external SSD? How do we equate seconds to MBps?
Thankfully the read / write speed on m2 iPad Pro didn’t get nerfed
I have m2 256g and they have slower ssd, 1500 right and 1480 reads so apple did the same thing they did to there m2 airs
As much as I love my m1 iPad Pro, I still much prefer my m2 air MacBook for everyday usage.
Though I do love using my iPad to watch Netflix in the kitchen while I’m cooking, it definitely has some fantastic speakers.
Thanks for the video and for this comparison. I am going for the MacBook for sure. Blessings.
To really get stuff done, I don't use my iPad nor MacBook--I use my Mac Pro. I use 5 monitors, and it lends to higher productivity.
So, the iPad Pro not there yet for laptop replacement for me.
m2 iPad pro 12.9 256g storage speed is around 1600mb/s too. in 9:08 you shows the m1 iPad pro
macbook air all day every day i own the macbook air m2 bought last month and i am the very happy with it
This has convinced me to m go for a lower spec iPad and get an external drive and spend the saved money on a new Mac Book if they are even gonna be worth it
Just so you know, since the 2022 Adobe Max, Lightroom CC on Mac and Windows gained GPU Acceleration for exports but the iPad didn't (it did not even get anything new in Photoshop and LR still lacks many features from the Desktop version without any reason, Adobe is restricting the iPad voluntary...).

BRING ME BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED NOW
Unless you have a very specific niche of work use for one (pilots, architects, building constructors, etc) most people would be FAR better off getting an MBA M2 over an iPad Pro.
My iPad is mainly media consumption device and secondary monitor when I am out.
Can you guys do a gaming comparison between ipads? Like showing fps in Genshin, CoD, etc
Ipad is suitable for me who works as an architect. Can sketch drawings without the hassle of carrying stationery and paper
Cheers.
@@JxC250 thanks for the heads-up. It is a shame however since would be great to have it as a backup machine.
The two iPad dealbreakers for me? Corrupted external SSD drives, & inadequate file management. So long as iPads are plagued with these issues, they are not even a consideration.
FileBrowserPro saves the day for me on iPAD, filling in some of the gaps. But I'm with you. File management sucks on iPAD.
I have the MacBook Air M1 but so tempted to pick up the iPad Pro 12.9 M1? I like to watch films and videos on my Mac
I personally wouldn’t even use a MacBook Pro if iPad Pro had Mac OS. As of now I use my iPad Pro paired with the keyboard more than my laptop. Suits my lifestyle.
(Edit) I bought a MacBook. It works best paired with the iPad while in school.
How's the blooming/light bleed compare to the M1? Of course compare to a normal LCD it's amazing...
What's the purpose of a MacBook if iPads run MacOS or if Macs, in general, get touch screens?
Can't afford any of these, Apple's pricing is just something else. Like your videos though..great reviews.
What about the M2 Air vs the M2 13” MBP?
