Happy Thursday everyone! We’ve got a two video post today and after you’re done watching this Luxury+, be sure to also watch our full review on the off-road ready Overtrail+ trim! Which trim would you guys choose for yourself?
You said in the video the upcoming hybrid will have the 2.4L iForce Max with 10-speed - is that true? I've only seen with the old 6-speed. That would addess the main downside of that powertrain IMO. The TX350 gets far better highway mpg than 500h bc it has the 8-speed instead of the old 6-speed.
Had a privilege to sit inside one at the Washington dc auto show. Everyone wanted to see it and sit inside. Lexus definitely hit a home run with this vehicle
Hopefully a hybrid powerful v6, it's a big heavy vehicle , probably be underpowered with a 4cyl. It seems underpowered already with only 349hp an garbage mpg
and now it needs premium fuel because it's a direct injection twin turbo. Since premium costs 30% more than 87 octane, this equates to 13mpg (when using cost per mile, which is a much more useful figure than MPG in a world where most cars require premium)
As a taller (6' 2") driver, the big problem that I have noticed in newer vehicles is the lack of safe visibility out of the front windshield. They try to put the safety monitoring equipment in a black box at the top middle of the windshield.. And now Lexus made that black box even bigger.. see at (24:20).. Unfortunately, now the location of that black box (plus the rearview mirror itself) really hurts the drivers own ability to view out for safe driving. When it comes to safe driving, I trust my own eyes and vision much more than techie safety monitoring devices at the top middle part of the windshield. You would be surprised at how important that whole top middle part of the windshield is for good, safe driving visibility. They need to find another place on the vehicle to put safety monitoring devices so you can look out of the front windshield safely.
to work out what kinks?? these cars are of the highest quality... top 3 in the industry.. with new car warranty idk whu wouldn't trade in your MDX if u can afford it
@@senoow4215first year cars are always garbage regardless of the company esp. if they’re doing a lot of new things, last year cars of a gen are always the best and most reliable
I'm probably dreaming, but I'd legit pay $90k USD for this with the 3.4L V6 hybrid, 20 mpg combined, sub 6.0sec 0-60, and closer to that old Lexus luxury on the interior. Seems line that's a pipe dream but BOY would that be beautiful 😍
Its over for Range Rover and rightfully so. I always thought it was so stupid for Range Rover to build some of the most attractive SUVs in the market and refuse to fix their reliability issues. They will soon regret this once this GX hits the market. They simply wont be able to compete. Im calling it now, The Gx will kill Range Rover sales.
What a beautiful view from the second row! This would be a great roadtrip car. Love the large windows. The backseat makes me feel claustrophobic as usual.
As far as I'm concerned, a third row on anything besides a full-size SUV is for small kids only. Even then its a limited time experience. The best in class currently is the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
You should consider incorporating a parking test, or at least a turning radius test. That would be really helpful with larger cars, like these as that may help viewers better understand the overall size of the vehicle.
Lexus will have no problem selling around 40-50k GX models in 2024 and beyond The interior dash is lacking any real luxury trim, but other than that, it delivers what the market wants A Land Rover Defender-like off-road SUV they can trust
Loved the video and model. I would for wait for the hybrid. I can’t do that kind of fuel economy since owning an hybrid and loving not having to worry about gas.
Does Lexus Safety Sense 3.0's lane tracing assist reliably keep the car centered in its lane even on freeway curves? How does the lane centering of this lexus compare with Tesla's autopilot? Thanks!
@@jermainedouglas7301- What??? This Lexus Luxury trim at $86k is the closest to the price of a Landcruiser???? The top end Landcrusier stops at $76k, which is more in line with the lower trims of the Lexus version.
IMHO it needs the grill to be painted “silver” specifically for the luxury trim and body color for sport and off road versions. And of course it is a great looking vehicle.
The TX has unibody construction (i.e. car based) & this GX is body-on-frame (like pickups) with a live rear axle. A car based SUV will always have a better ride. Sofyan also mentioned this. Watch for a few seconds starting at 27:29.
I know the new 2024 GX550 has more power but it’s turbo 6 cylinders, mpg still as bad as the older models and cost more. I decided to keep my 2019 GX460. Thanks for the video.
This is exactly what Lexus needed. I can't imagine picking the Range Rover Sport over this unless you want the Supercharged performance version. The GX is going to last a lifetime. I also think Lexus did a much better job with a simpler infotainment setup.
Correct me if wrong, but from what I gather, premium fuel is "recommended", not required. This engine is slightly detuned from the Tundra, so I would wager it will tolerate regular fuel without complaint.
Can you get the Mark Levinson on Premium +? My issue with this car are the size of the wheels, living in a colder climate, I swap to snow tires, which will be tough with large tire with small sidewalls. Wish you could add booster seats to the Overtrail.
I would wait a bit, to get models that are made in 2024 december and later. There will be issues in the first 6 months models, after that lexus is known to start solving issues. For most other manufacturers it takes 12-24 months to solve/update issues in a new model. Ill wait for the hybrid version, in luxury+ and ill put 20 inch rims.
Huh the new Santa Fe honestly looks more luxurious inside and just as amazing looking from the outside. Even crazier is the fact that it’s a LOT smaller in all dimensions, but still has more cargo space when comparing 3-row versions of both. It also definitely has a WAY more usable third row. Lastly, aside from the off road bits, I can’t find any extra tech/luxury/convenience features the Lexus has. One could argue the electromagnetic roof, but honestly I’d prefer the open sunroof up front on the Santa Fe along with the rear glass which can be completely closed to have zero light and much less temperature transferring from the outside to inside. Overall the GX is a MASSIVE improvement. But with many of the recent Toyota/Lexus body on frame cars just aren’t designed very efficiently. This works a lot better as a 2-row model which offer 90 cubic feet of cargo space than the third row with only 75 or so. Lastly, I’d take a Rivian R1S over this for 70-80K+. This car is still horrible in terms of efficiency. I don’t understand how an Escalade gets the same MPG. Plus 95% of buyers will never do real off roading, and considering the GX and Rivian will end up getting roughly similar miles of range per tank/battery, it’s a no brainer.
Love the new GX, but as a brand new LX owner WTH is wrong with Lexus with not offering massaging seats in the front row?? Makes no sense for the amount of money that the LX cost. Maybe it’s time for a downgrade i mean upgrade. 😂
It looks heavily inspired by the new Cadillac Escalade, I see it in the side profile of this new GX. It looks good! Everyone wants to be boxier and more truck like nowadays, *gm* started this first with the Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade.
Frames are not exactly the same on the lx gx and usa made sequoia and tundra. Similar not same. Ride is different across all and look forward to someone comparing all 4.

The combined fuel economy has gone up from 16 to an amazing 17 mpg from the previous model.
and now it needs premium fuel because it's a direct injection twin turbo. Since premium costs 30% more than 87 octane, this equates to 13mpg (when using cost per mile, which is a much more useful figure than MPG in a world where most cars require premium)
The mpg is something that hybrid can address. Barley breaking 20 combined and premium gas is a deal breaker for me as I drive a lot.
I average 19 in my 460 and get 21 on the highway.
My 460 also requires premium
Is it heavy enough for all the business

I hope not. That’ll drive up the demand.
Yes, it’s 7030 lb GVWR. So it does qualify being being 6000 lb. Section 179.
