- Honda's CB1000R is the 'sensible' option in the naked litre bike market.
The latest 'Black Edition' follows Honda's Neo Sports Cafe design philosophy and combines some retro/modern touches with a near 145bhp inline four engine.
It's a super naked designed for the real world, so how does it ride on UK roads? Carl Stevens took one for a spin to find out...

Best looking motorcycle on the market.
One of the few reviews from someone who knows how to "ride naughty"!
Your bodywork on the bike is excellent. Coming from a driving instructor in the black forrest.
The one thing that buyers always overlook with honda is the technilogical bang for your buck that honda delivers. I've owned 5 motorcycles and 4 of them have been hondas. Best money i've ever spent.
Technologically MT-09SP and MT-09 are better than the CB1000R Black Edition for up to one third less money. : 6 axis IMU, cornering ABS, anti-wheelie control cruise control, Öhlins suspension, all the things the CB is lacking. The CB is the much more beautiful bike and has more a premium like build. And the new MT-10 is way superior to the CB in every way (besides looks) for nearly the same price. Honda asks too much for their lower tech bikes : for a similar or better price, technologically and riding wise :
KTM Duke 390 > CB500
KTM RC 390 > CBR500R
Tiger Sport 660, Touareg 660 > CB500X
Aprilia RS 660 > CBR650R
MT-09, MT-09SP, MT-10 > CB1000R Black Edition
Tracer 9 GT > NT1100
new Tiger 1200, R1250GS > Africa Twin
Aprilia RSV4 Factory, Panigale V4S > Fireblade SP
I like the CB1000R Black Edition but it is the low end of naked bikes compared to Tuono V4 1100 Factory and base, Super Duke R Evo, Streetfighter V4S, S1000R and the new MT-10SP. Time for Honda to put the 2022 Fireblade revised engine and electronics in a neo retro hyper naked bike look like the CB1000R Black Edition, sell that new 213hp hyper naked for 22k full options and they will have a mega seller.
@@THEREALZENFORCE not everyone wants a psychotic hyper naked bike
@@THEREALZENFORCE rumors are that the 2024 CB1000R will have the 999cc engine of the current Fireblade on a completely redesigned chassis.
@@guyfromboracay if true that would be amazing
I wish I’d have purchased the CB 1000 instead of the Aprilia. I’ve been a Honda guy my whole life but decided to go with the Italian brand and what a mistake. Great performance and looks that I absolutely love but defective engine and no support from the dealer which by the way is a 2 1/2 hour drive away. It’s a crapshoot whether you get a good one or a piece of junk and it just isn’t worth the chance of blowing close to 20 K. Live and learn…😒
BEAST!!!
fantastice bike
Well I just bought one, In man I look forward to riding it. I really don't understand how the blipper works but I would imagine that it shifting up-and-down without using the clutch. I don't know if I will find out or not.
I just bought mine today. I guess we will have anice season :)
Upshifts are effortless and easy at any speed. The down blip really needs to be in the right revs for it to be perfect. I had never ridden a bike with a quick shifter. Honestly it was a learning curve once I got on it but now that I have had it for six months I love the quick shifter. Such a cool piece of tech on the newer bikes. I quickshift all day long up and down and I love it. If you rev match the down blip it sounds awesome.
@@traviscarter9300 Like several quickshifters, you don’t have to be in right range of rev to downshift. You have to close the throttle.
The footage of someone riding is optimal! keep that up please. I see too much 1st person.....
Really don't like the look of the tank.
Me neither. I wish it had the tank of the cb650r. That one looks a bit better.
@@keltecdan agreed.
GSXS £2K cheaper.
Yeah and the cb is waaaay nicer, worth the extra $
@@KB-yj5xp nicer how?
@@robertprosser6856 the way it looks/style, the finish quality up close. Obviously this is my opinion but I compared the gsxs and the katana to this and when I saw them in person it was no question what the nicer bike was, thats why I bought the CB.
@@KB-yj5xp Honda known for their quality
