  • Thanks to Honda UK Motorcycles, I had the opportunity to test and review the 2021 Honda CB1000r Black edition.
    Take a look at the video for a proper analysis of why this has ended up being one of my favourite bikes I've ridden to date. The Neo Sports Cafe style from Honda is something that looks brilliant!
    Plenty of raw engine sounds and some detailed looks at this bike.

    Would you want to take the CB1000R Black Edition for a ride?

    Had mine about a month now & re-watched this vlog. In fairness I think you’ve reviewed it well. I’m 115kg. I’ve experimented with the rear shock and upped the preload a bit plus a touch of extra rebound damping and got it just ‘right’. Very pleased with the bike. So easy to ride and so confidence inspiring. Very nice road bike.

      Cheers Jon, it's nice to know from an owner that they agree with my thoughts! It's a fantastic road bike and one I remember fondly from all those I've ridden.
      Glad you've managed to dial the shock in 👍 it maybe worth an aftermarket upgrade at some point though if you find it lacking later on

      @@ILikeMotorbikes Your welcome. Any mass produced thing (e.g. motorbike) has to be a compromise when it leaves the production line, for my needs it’s more than I will ever need performance wise. I’ve had a few bikes with fully adjustable suspension on them but TBH never noticed that much of a difference (at sensible speeds). Now on a track I’m sure it makes all the difference when stuff is being really pushed hard but I don’t do track days so it matters not.

      @ILikeMotorbikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jfro5867 absolutely, they have to find a balance between cost and performance as like you have found, not everyone needs top level kit!

    0:35 nope, the other difference is the quickshifter/blipper that comes standard with the black edition as well as an upgraded LCD display.

    Great review! Thank you. I've had a deposit sitting on a MT09 for months now but just saw this at the dealership yesterday. It's a beauty. Seriously considering it

    • @ILikeMotorbikes
      @ILikeMotorbikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jason, hopefully it's giving you a decent starting point for a consideration. I've not ridden the 2021 MT09 but have ridden the Tracer 9GT (same engine) and it just left me underwhelmed.
      Definitely recommend taking the CB1000 out for a test to see if its more suitable for you.

    Really good review - no nonsense and covered off exactly what was needed . Makes a change from some of the OTT nonsense and over zealous TH-camrs like your content and grounded common sense style - thank you will be checking out rest of your stuff 👍

      Robert thanks so much for taking the time to give me feedback. You have confirmed my reasons for wanting to start this channel/website is because there are many nonsensical and journalistic rubbish that gets spouted and not enough "every man" style reviews which is exactly what I'm trying to cover.
      Thanks again and have a great day 🙌

    I agree with you on the looks. I think it's the best looking naked bike currently, just needs a tail tidy to smarten up the rear end. I've seen a few with tail tidies and they definitely improve it.

    • @ILikeMotorbikes
      @ILikeMotorbikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I've seen a couple with tail tidy and it smartens it all up massively!

    Can you see a bit of a fight between the design department and accounting.
    You are right. That silver out of place.
    There is no design harkening back to older generation that had the same bright coloured piece?

    Great review! I'm really interested in buying one of this CB1000R, but I only have one year experience on a Moto Guzzi V7III racer. Do you think I can handle the CB1000R safely?

    • @ILikeMotorbikes
      @ILikeMotorbikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Scott, thanks for the kind words. Realistically only you can answer that. If you find you're a measured rider, and haven't had any moments where you grabbed too much throttle on your Guzzi then you'll be fine. You could leave it in rain mode while you get used to it so the traction control was at its highest level while you build experience on it. It's a docile bike if you ride it sensibly, but make no mistake 140+hp is still plenty enough to get you intro trouble if you're not careful. Take one for a test ride and see what you think 👍

      @@ILikeMotorbikes Unfortunately, there is no test ride in Canada. Anyhow, thanks for your suggestion, much appreciated!

      @@scottwang16 - mate of mine in the UK, we have to learn on a 125, he passed his test, got a CB650R, wasn't enough for him so within weeks he traded it for this CB1000R Black Edition. He'd only been riding a few months. Couple of years later, no issues.
      He is a bit of an adrenaline type guy (lawyer with a side hustle as a stuntman), so as ILMB said, it depends on your personality. I'd say go for it, if you haven't already! =o)

    The rear shock on Rodney's is maxed out for taking me on the back and it still pogo's. He got Phillip McCallen to set the suspension up for him riding it, so its perfect for him going solo. He's going to replace the shock and put a new, more adjustable one in it over winter .

    • @ILikeMotorbikes
      @ILikeMotorbikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep that doesn't surprise me! I hope the adjustable one sorts it, please do let me know as I'd be interested to know how big a difference it makes. I expect it's the spring that is the main culprit.
