      Nice! Always cool to hear from real owners and hear their feedback on changes from one generation to the next as you can say a lot more than someone that just hops on it and logs a few miles etc. Quick shifters should come standard on everything, soooo much fun lol!

      that's apple and orange. I have a 2021 Supersport same engine as the 2022 monsters, V twin sound and feel makes u smile, but if u like smooth acceleration thrill then the CBR1000R inline 4 is better.

      I almost pulled the trigger on the black edition but it’s almost 2022 and I’m hopping they add cruise control like the MT-09SP and MT-10 come with standard. That’s really all this bike is missing to make it a perfect only bike in my eyes. You should wrap your tank with paint protective film because Honda paint is Notoriously soft and scratches very easy. So I highly recommend getting a clear wrap on the tank. I’m praying they come out with cruise control on this bike in 2022 and I’ll trade my bike in so fast for one. It’s one of the best looking bikes on the market in my opinion.

    In response to your rant about power output I think Honda has decided to use common sense in limiting the horsepower the way they did. I simply don’t see any need for 180 horsepower in a street bike. It’s beautiful and has more power than any sane person could use on the street.

    • @jasper_of_puppets
      @jasper_of_puppets 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And a naked street bike, no less. I haven't looked at the dynos, but I'm assuming the detuned motor of the CB1000R has a more balanced power delivery throughout the rev range with more torque down below vs the CBR. For a naked bike, that is muuuch more optimal over the high revving, high-strung nature of an RR.

      Maybe 143hp at the crankshaft but far less at the rear wheel.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yeah, 143hp is plenty enough for any of us on the street if we're being honest with ourselves but per usual - we always want MORE lol! I think the aggravating part to me is their decision to not give us all the beans. Sometimes it seems like Honda likes to tease us, we know they can do special things as they have in the past but then sometimes you'll see them halfway do something and to me, this is one of those halfway moments. Especially when you look at what the competition is doing with their naked 1000cc+ sport bikes and they're selling a crap ton more of them than Honda is at the end of the day.
      It's still an awesome bike though and I'm not knocking it as it'll still blow 90% of people's minds if they have a chance to ride it. I just think Honda could do more rather than using an almost 20 year old drivetrain package in this B-E-A-UTIFUL bike. Thanks as always for watching and commenting too Steve ;)

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol! I used to think you had to have horsepower to have fun but when I picked up my first Grom in 2013, that all changed. It really opened my eyes to the old saying "It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow". That showed me I could have fun on 2 wheels without having to take my CBR to the track or to the mountains for a session of ripping up and down it as fast as possible. Sometimes I think we get caught up too much in getting that next faster bike or being able to go faster around this turn etc and forget what fun in sometimes. Long story short, as much as I love high horsepower bikes - the fun stuff that really puts a smile on my face these days comes in the way of a 9hp bike too lol! But that's not covering the addiction of modifying things and trying to squeeze out more from that 9hp engine lol! Tinkering with them is a lot of the fun too though.

    I love Honda reliability and the look of this bike is by far the hottest they have ever done on any naked bike. I can live with Honda skimping on the horsepower. But I will not trade my current ride and buy one until they add cruise control standard, the rear shock or make it adjustable, and that front fender flapping I seen on them on the road. Minor gripes but it’s what I would like. Otherwise, this is a gorgeous, top notch road machine, in my humble opinion. Thanks for the vid!

It's not a high volume bike so they could pull the plug any second or keep it around for a few more years and settle with only selling a few of them. There are some guys seeing 150+whp out of them with a tune and bolt-ons so it's definitely doable when it comes to getting some of that power back but it's going to take some $$.

    Low on power, no wind protection. This bike would be a contender against the s1000XR and 1290 GT for a fun road and toruing bike. INstead of low power NT1100

    If you had to take a guess, what changes will Honda make to the CB1000 for 2022?

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I was a betting man I'd say we won't see any changes for 2022 as the most recent round of changes came in 2021 to the CB1000R platform that includes the Black Edition. If anything for 2022, I think we have a chance of seeing the standard version CB1000R brought over that we didn't get for 2021 as they only imported the Black Edition version. I'll know more in the next 30-60 days though ;)

    Honda rarely max out engine power.
    That's why they last forever.

  • @scooby4544
    @scooby4544 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thankfully honda didn't go with the 200+ hp nonsense. Take the Ducati for instance. You'll be lucky if it lasts you more than 70,000 km without engine rebuild. That's the price for extremely stressed engines.

    I will play contrarian to the lovefest.
    1. Café ‘style’. I suppose if you live in an urban environment with lots of lights and get your kicks out of blowing away Honda Accords it may be ok.
    2. No wind/bug protection. If you were to ride this ‘naked’ at a fair clip for any distance me thinks it would get old quick. Carry plenty of plexiglass cleaner and microfiber.
    3. 143 HP not enough. There is no end for the lust for HP and bragging rights when most will never explore the limits of the bike itself or their own ability. If one does it will get expensive with the authorities or the health care industry.
    4. BLACK, BLACK, BLACK. With your black riding gear on you’ll look like the spawn of Darth Vader and will be hard to see as you split lanes doing a C note or anywhere else and when an octogenarian slams into you it will be all their fault. I have the same opinion on matte gray.
    I know there are people who love these big naked bikes. I just don’t see it. To me, where I live it is impractical. Honda give me a good sport tourer.

    • @JoeySpara
      @JoeySpara 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like where you're coming from on this! Power power power, when most that crave it can not tame it! Most probably couldn't handle a 500 in the twistes. 143hp sounds like one could easily be at 155 with very little modification and that still wouldn't please the street Rossi posse.
      I would really like to see Honda use this platform and get 143 hp. All while making it more up right with hard bags, a fairing. Some adjustable bars, a nice digital display, and maybe even a shitty radio like on the ctx1300.

    • @harrisodell8081
      @harrisodell8081 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoeySpara I sold my VFR several years ago, which was a huge mistake (I just had too many bikes at the time). I sold my two sport bikes this past spring (I am getting old and the extreme lean is no longer in the cards for the joints). All I have left in this genre is a venerable FJ1200 and it is a little hefty, especially in the corners. Great bike though, very comfortable and all the power I need.
      I am looking to upgrade new and for me I see only two options. The Ninja 1000 and Suzuki 1000GT. Both appear to be spectacular. I am leaning toward the Suzi, less weight, more of a sport bike and that K5 engine. The only thing holding me back is I don’t want a black bike. I feel like when Henry Ford addressed a complaint about all the Model T’s being black, “They can have any color they want as long as it’s black”.
      Honda needs a decent sport tourer in their line-up with bags, with that 153 HP engine @ around $15K. I will take mine in Red, White, Yellow, Blue, or Pink (uh, maybe not).
