i would like to add, for people saying using the ethernet cable to install drivers is a design flaw: i agree. but you can (at least on my phone) connect your phone to your computer with a data cable, and use your phone as a portable hotspot
What is the end that attaches to the card with the white plastic called? I need a wire to go from the PCIe card to a USB-A style port, not the USB-F/header port.
Or you're in my situation where you built your PC in a house that had Ethernet access, moved to an apartment without Ethernet access, and not don't have network connection to download the driver's for my new wifi card
I had a bit of a journey with this one, lol. I don't know anything about computer building but I figure I'd put in some things not mentioned in case anyone comes to the same issues. 1. The cable in the old card was hard as shit to take out. Ended up having to using some flat tweezers on the the end of the cable to pull it out. I used a bit of force on just pulling the wires and I was scared that if i used anymore force that something might snap. Probably wouldn't have but I figured I'd be safe 2. There was an input on the motherboard that confused the hell out of me because it mirrored the end of the new cable ( so it doesn't fit). I wasn't able to see which one it was because the cables had been organised behind the motherboard. I ended up pulling out a cable with the same amount of wires (with different colours) right next to the input that mirrored the new cable. It seems obvious that you pull out the other end of the old cable connected to the motherboard but it wasn't mentioned so I was a bit worried about doing it. That being said there are probably other motherboards with more than just one of these inputs but I dunno. 3.The drivers did not show up when I tried to automatically search for it. I updated all the drivers but It didn't work. The manual has a QR code that will take you to the right driver. Alternatively just google the name of the wifi card and I ended up at Asus site where I also found it. You'll get an installer that gives you the option for both the wifi and bluetooth and I installed both. After the installation the wifi option came back and everything worked. I looked at a lot of videos for this and this video was the best of all the other videos for installing this wifi card that I had found, so thank you for the good help.
what port did you plug it into on your mobo? i have almost an identical card to you and i don't know where to plug it in. It didn't come with any instructions. it's a 10 pin plug that goes into the mobo.
Mine wont even show up in this pc and now ive downloaded the drivers after having to go to the site but it still dont show up and mine is supposed to light up, but it won't
In case this helps anyone: All I had to do was switch the USB port I was using on my motherboard. I have an Asus Prime X570-P with an AMD 3900X. I originally had it installed in the USB11 port (which is a USB 2.0 port, side note: it will not work in a 3.0 port) but for whatever reason it did not like that. Simple fix was installing the usb cable into the USB910 port instead (literally right next to the USB11 port). No idea why this worked but it did.
glad i have an old android phone to work as a wireless usb modem. here another trick. if you have a case with a plastic front panel. you can buy long laptop antena and stick them on the plastic front panel inside the case. youll have good wifi and it will be invisible. most prebuild manufacturer like dell do this. just take care of your wifi plug type.
Seems to be an F_USB (front USB). Basically, along the row of pins at the “front” of the motherboard, you should see one or two pin sets for USB 2.0 headers. You should look at your motherboard’s manual to figure out which these are since they’re labeled differently with different brands. Hope this helps.
