You try that tap tap tappin that axle up here in the rust belt states like the Pocono mountains here in Pa... Me my Bobcat and Raccoon will sit here eating popcorn & peanuts laughing our cans off at ya...
You don’t ever, EVER hammer tap on a seal ring when installing... Sue was very careful but most people don’t. If you don’t have a seal or bearing tool kit, you can simply use a piece of pvc pipe to push evenly.
There is a spec limit on this due to possibly coming loose if not installed correctly or dust getting into the seal if pushed in too deep. I'm currently working on a design that can be 3D printed in 30 minutes that you can use along with a long pipe or elongated head hammer to tap from a closer position.
This does not specify if this is an AWD or front wheel drive, things like shaft seals and axles are not necessarily the same for each model, please specify it makes a difference. Thx!
If the car was well taken care of it's possible, i had alot more problems because the one I worked one was a 2011 and looked like it had been neglected. Pulling the entire passenger axle assembly out of the diff was actually easy once all the prelim stuff was done, easier than putting it back in since I had to replace parts of the CV assembly for both sides. The seals proved to be a real pain in the butt, i had to phone a friend.
I have a 99 maxima and replaced right side seal and it still leaked . Found out the parts store sold me seals that were same for both sides. Not right the left and right seals are different sizes on Nissan . Now I have to redo the right again . Be aware of your parts and where you get them. Always check OEM specs and then seek parts to match if not getting them from dealer .
I understand the transfer case outflow bolt and inflow bolt, 23 minutes 45 seconds in the video. What kind of place is tightening the video and this place is... I wonder if there is only an inflow or no outflow.
Can you switch fm/ Park to Neutral (to turn the wheel), if the transmission fluid is drained? I need to replace CV Axle, and want to drain before. Or if you turn the wheel w/transmission fluid off, it will damage the transmission? Thank you for the film.
In theory......possibly.....but in real life, most likely not. There's not much clearance at the check hole regards the exhaust & the check hole is much smaller diameter than the fill hole. The injector tube for the 8090 oil probably won't fit the check hole.
check your owners manual, many of the nissan's (juke, rogue, murano etc) share similar fluid requirement for the diff and transfer case. If you are still not sure call up nissan parts department and ask them they will help you, i've been using them a lot for schematics and certain parts i can't trust others to provide the right part for a certain job.
I get a kick out of the directional rotor being on the wrong side.... Also...if you need to hammer in a seal, fill the backside of it with assembly grease, so the spring doesn't pop out. Nice informative "How To" on this axle seal.
Had to take one out with the bracket and smacked it off with a large hammer, took a couple of blows and finally released. That bracket can be removed by dropping the exhaust a bit to allow for more clearance and removing half of the axle from the inner booth. My CV axle was bad so I just completely removed it but if you're trying to just attack that seal, it will be a pain if it is seized.
Never use a pry bar on one these seals... One scratch into the casting & the new seal might fight ya going on and possibly ruin the seal. Clean clean around that seal surface. And I mean clean and use vasoline on the new seal to tap it in there... I am actually confused here at which side of the new seal goes inwards. It is shaped diff from other seals I have replaced...
Just tried this. Dont know how that slide hammer did that, but maybe I just cant find the right size fork. First time in over 15 years I cant fix it and have to send it to a shop.
Thank you very much the video explains the process very well. But even I need your help to find the check point and refill point of the difference fluid. I Try to find them by guiding me through the video, but it seems to be different in murano 2005. Thank you very much for your help
@@coopdascoopkc yes, unfortunately I attempted this repaid and it is leaking still. The dealership wants to charge me 1000 dollars for the repair...might be the only way to insure its taken care of.
There's no identifiable audio feedback I could point to. You just have to know by feel and from eyeballing the tolerances if the CV axle seated correctly or not. It's a very uneasy feeling not having some kind of specific thing to watch for in terms of proper fitment. Seating the seal properly and not damaging the seal are important.
Don't laugh but how do you fill back up the call fluid than Don't laugh but where do you or how to fill back up or at transmission axle fluid back up? Anyone? Thanks for the video!!
And the Murano tire tightening bolt. What's the tightening talk?^^; I don't understand you because you're not good at English. For these people, it would be great if you could also mark the tightening torque value in the video as a picture, and it would be very helpful if it could indicate where the inflow is, etc. and any name. Lastly, can you tell me the product part number that I put back in the ring after removing the constant speed joint?^^;
i had same question, my guess is the check valve probably sits lower than the fill port does and they are using the level of the check valve as the stopping point for filling it.

See my video on removing that bad ole right side CV axle... I make short work of it totally..
Thanks for the precise and easy to understand illustration.

Thanks for the video, I have a better understanding what's evolved in changing the seals in a Nissan Murano
The best transfer case drop and refill Ive seen yet and by a women.
Giver her some power tools
I need the part number for the seal for my 2009 Nissan murano awd please
Sue is so good. Great content.
very helpful video ,straight foreword A1 auto you can't go wrong

Do I need to drain transfer case fluid if I’m only replacing the cv axle?
This does not specify if this is an AWD or front wheel drive, things like shaft seals and axles are not necessarily the same for each model, please specify it makes a difference. Thx!
The most unbelievable video i have ever seen. That job was done 10 minutes before she started. No way that axle separated like that, total b.s.

When changing this side axel do you have to change/ take out that whole axel or can you separate just the cv axel and replace that
Would I be able to just fill through the check valve until it spills instead of filling through the fill plug up top?
Hi, do you have a video for 2009 Nissan Frontier rear axle bearing replacement?
I understand the transfer case outflow bolt and inflow bolt, 23 minutes 45 seconds in the video.
What kind of place is tightening the video and this place is...
I wonder if there is only an inflow or no outflow.
Would you say it’s the same thing for an 07 nissan murano?
Can you switch fm/ Park to Neutral (to turn the wheel), if the transmission fluid is drained? I need to replace CV Axle, and want to drain before. Or if you turn the wheel w/transmission fluid off, it will damage the transmission? Thank you for the film.
Lol she ain't greasing anything!! Raw and dry!!
Great video! Can I use the check plug to fill the transfer case instead of reaching out that top plug?
In theory......possibly.....but in real life, most likely not. There's not much clearance at the check hole regards the exhaust & the check hole is much smaller diameter than the fill hole. The injector tube for the 8090 oil probably won't fit the check hole.
Really excellent installation

I have been trying to do this and it appears that I keep getting leak around the seal. Did you experience anything like this?
What’s the part number for that cv axle, all the ones I’m finding have three places to bolt, when I only have two needed
This is the same procedure fo a 2005?
To The differential fluid is the same?
Thank you for your help

wasn’t that the left side . anyways hm is that the same procedure for a nissan altima 2005?
What was the sliding hammer tool called ?

Nice informative "How To" on this axle seal.
Should put the lug nuts on before using the pry bar as leverage for the axle nut so you don't ruin threads.
+Bozscaggz Z Thanks for the tip!
was this vehicle an all wheel drive ? mine is front wheel drive so I will not need to change the fluid.
Hard to believe that the bearing cane out that easy from the carrier

That is for the demonstration, in real live is very hard to pull off the axle, and too install the seal is very difficult due to the room.

2005 is a different model and configuration.
Do u need to hear a click while the axle end goes into the transmission or not?

10:00 i think three might be a better way to install that seal

Hello what the name and part # on the axle removal sliding tool, thank you

Why did you remove fill plug and then fill it through the check plug ¿
i had same question, my guess is the check valve probably sits lower than the fill port does and they are using the level of the check valve as the stopping point for filling it.
She never filled this through the check plug, she verified level removing the check valve. U must have delusions
Thanks
Rotor on wrong side
I mean differential fluid.***
