Your channel has given me the confidence and information needed to get the job done. Keep them coming!
12:27 Yup, VERY important step. If you ever take the shaft out, clean the old grease as best you can and put new grease in. A lot of people skip this step that could gain them quite a few miles/km from that bearing. If you're already in, do it, even if you have to drop everything and run to the parts store to get the grease. I've heard this story so many times "dammit, wish i'd changed the bearings when i changed the seal" and similar. If the bearing's not shot, just pack it with fresh grease, it does a heck of a lot more than one think.
I think it's really sweet of you that you redid your parents' driveway like that right before dipping out. You are a truly grateful son. All the love my man.

Hey Chris, glad to see you back. You might want to mention that some axles have C clips instead of bearing retention. For those, you'll need to remove the differential cover first. From there, you can remove the c clips from the end of the axle shafts. These are found on old Chevys for example.

But. It solidly beats being dead. Thanks Chris for always passing that tip along. It was usually what I did, but that day, I was rushing to get the job done, and almost paid for it with my life. For the last 30 years, I've always triple checked every safety item involved in every repair. If i can add anyrhing to that, it's this. Always try to rock your car, on the stands Before starting to work on it. Both times I had one fall, I'd forgotten that step. Got my hand pinned to a tree by my 81 Cadillac, installing new brakes, when I was 17. Ground wasn't level enough. Wind picked up, and it went sideways. Mostly incpnvienient, no major injury, but I found a different working location at my grandparents' place.
Great tutorial Chris! One thing I would add, check the differential breather is clear and venting properly. I learned that the hard way, my breather was blocked and forced gear oil out the seals when it heated up the diff, so I had to do the brake job twice!😬

A word to the wise; when putting tires back on a car, always try and keep your feet or any part of yourself out from under the car. So about ur insta story i think an amazing first car is going to be a w202 mercedes c220d. First of all this is going to be my first car cuz it is my dad's second car and i fell in love with it. I like it and i think it is alr for a first one cuz 1st it is increndebly reliable, VERY fuel eficient, it is safe enough for a 20 yr old car. The only downside is the fact that it wad made in 1999 so its very old, and that it is RWD instead of FWD since it is better in the winter when it is snowy. Btw love ur vids❤
Great video! One minor thing, would advise against most people using metal tools to tap something into place. This is an easy way for someone to scratch or dent something important. Has happened to me one too many times… When in doubt, use something made of rubber or hard plastic!

Love your videos my friend! I just started my own mobile mechanic business thanks to your inspiration to the craft Ive learned alot. Much love from Ohio 🖤🙏
Chris!! You should make a video on what to do after an accident, like tips on how to make sure the scene is safe, how to speak with the other driver(s), make sure your car is safe, protect yourself from liability, deal with insurance, etc. General advice for small fender benders for people that are just learning to drive, etcetc. I know you can't give advice on how to fix your car after a major accident with injuries/other things, but I think this could be cool. I found your channel trying to do my first oil change. Other videos of super simple stuff would be awesome.
Thankyou Chris for inspiring my to start doing these things. I started watching you since i was 5 or 6 and now I'm 12 and I have watched all your videos and i have even started making videos from being inspired. Thankyou Chris!

One thing this video doesn’t go over is, some axles are held in from inside the differential. It takes removal of the differential cover and slightly taking the differential apart to slide the axles out. The rest is great info, but if someone looks at this video and sees no axle bolts on the back of their backing plate that’s probably why.
Hay Chris Fix. Great video on the axle seals. One thing I want to point out when I see the rear seals leaking. Is to always check the axle vent cap because if it’s clogged it could be letting pressure build up and that will push the oil out past the seals. On my Toyota I changed mine and when I unscrewed it I heard a poof that told me there was pressure. The seals weren’t leaking yet but it was just a matter of time.
Great video Chris - thanks. Just an FYI - some vehicles have clips, at the end of the axel shaft by the spline, in the rear diff that help hold the axel in, besides nuts on the wheel plate. Those clips need to be removed before you'll be able to remove the axel. This requires removing the rear diff cover after draining the fluid. Good luck with your new place and new videos.

Use grease when putting seal in

You moved 1000 miles away from your family? Thats crazy
Glad a new video is out!!! Now, start posting more often please, hard to find good content.
Another Chris Fix video I wish I had in my life about 25 years ago. The amount of money I could have saved in my younger years is staggering!
omg man Thank You so much for filming again u went away for a long time glad to have you back
Love your videos, you're incredable at explaining things in a simple and straightforward way!
A word to the wise; when putting tires back on a car, always try and keep your feet or any part of yourself out from under the car. True it can help lift heavy tires but if it falls you DO NOT wanna be under the vehicle-especially the tires.
so glad to see a new chris fix video. i love learning about working on cars, and actually working on cars. you make everything so easy to understand, thank you so much for all you do for the people like me who already have experience with cars, or other people who are doing things for the first time!!! THANK YOUUU!!!!!!
Im sooooooo excited for new Content of yours. You are my favorite TH-camr, best content!!!! Its so refreshing

Chris deserves to get to 10 mil subs with how much he’s helped us over the years
Chris, i cant renew my membership, but this wont stop me from being a fan. Always love your vids! 😅❤
I don't give a damn about the repairs. But still enjoy the satisfying tutorial with background commentary by Chris.
I love your videos I'm 14 and want to become a cardiologist but I have passion in mechanics aswell your videos inspire me to some day fix my own cars by myself when i grow up😊
I can't wait to see you install the delsol turbo kit and see how the car performs, so as soon as you settle in to your new place, please do a video on it. 😂❤❤❤❤I also want to become a mechanic and u are my biggest influence and inspiration. ❤❤❤😂🎉
I have a feeling Chris is moving down here to the Tampa Bay. He had a meet-up at my favorite Lowes, and it's about a thousand miles away from where he lives now.
Glad you were able to help get the car up to our concours! The axle seals really sealed the deal for our judges!
No way!!!. Chris is finally getting that home and garage upgrade that every car youtuber gets!!! He's making it big now. It's beautiful
Great video! One minor thing, would advise against most people using metal tools to tap something into place. This is an easy way for someone to scratch or dent something important. Has happened to me one too many times… When in doubt, use something made of rubber or hard plastic!
Hey Chris, I have been watching you since I was around 9 now I am 13 still watching your videos and my dream is to be a mechanic so overall thankyou so much Chris your videos are always great.
Glad to see you taking the plunge into being away from home. Its a weird feeling but also an accomplishment. You feel good about yourself.
Love your videos my friend! I just started my own mobile mechanic business thanks to your inspiration to the craft Ive learned alot. Much love from Ohio 🖤🙏
Thanks a lot! I'm glad the videos could help out. Good luck with your business!
Your videos saved my "behind" so many times! Thanks a lot mate
when you hit 10 mil you should totally do a recap of the past few years and how far you have come. and do a comparison of young coop to old coop :)
i just found out i have a blown axle seal and Chris comes out with this video, its like he knows!!!!!!
The satisfaction of seeing a new Chris Fix video pop up on my feed is unmatched!
I've got a couple of oil changes and a tire rotation under my belt because of these two channels. Keep it up fellas.
Great video❗ Aloha from Big Isle Hawaii🌴💞
This probably 1 of the greatest videos you have done in a while
Chris Fix is my real father. Thank you for teaching me these things dad 💪🏼
Congratulations for 10m for advanced
Thanks!
I had to replace the axle seals on my Ford Focus once. It was a massive pain the posterior. I recommend putting a clean container underneath until you're sure the seal is seated properly because transmission gear oil can be expensive depending on the car.
Makes me feel happy that you finally have your own driveway, keep wrenchen away Chris!!
Hello,my brother recently bought a 2004 ford focus and it is in really good shape it was 2200 euros and for that price point it had 154000 kilometers on it and that really isnt a lot and then we bought some fancs ratcaps to hide the ugly black rims when we tried to put on the ratcaps(which we had no idea how to)my dad cracked on of the ratcaps but we superglued them.the climate is also really good ait heats amd cools really well also man i love your content it gives me so much inspiration and hope😀
I love that nice shot of the gear oil leaking out of the fill hole.
Keep going Chris...
The world is watching...
The number of viewers translates what I say... ❤
i just did 5,700 mile road trip in a 20 yr old truck with 210,000 no problems what's so ever. I went from Ca to Fl via the 40 and then on the way home i did the 10. it took me 2 weeks 2 days. it was so fun and i slept in the back of my truck all the way. I was driving a 2003 Chevy Tahoe lt Awd witch is based on the truck platform that's why i refer to it as a truck
One thing this video doesn’t go over is, some axles are held in from inside the differential. It takes removal of the differential cover and slightly taking the differential apart to slide the axles out. The rest is great info, but if someone looks at this video and sees no axle bolts on the back of their backing plate that’s probably why.
Who sent up the signal!!! Our hero has finally returned!!!
I don’t own a car but I enjoy your content because of how passionate you are about cars
Awesome. I’ve seen this car show up on MORR an Robby Layton videos and to top it off Chrisfix is brought into the group. 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼
congrats to chris for getting his own place, excited to see it!
2:00 that's the biggest tool case for the least pieces I've ever seen! Great video as always.
This sears blow molded tool boxes are crap.
I’ve been watching you for a long time 5-7 years still watching every single video keep up the good work
Im from saudi arabia you liked my comment i loved that im in Australia now I want to meet you in USA Thanks❤ Mr Chris
THANK GOD you posted this. i don’t have a leaky axle but THANK GOD
Increase your videos has been very helpful in one of my bed so thank you and keep doing the
My dream is be like you.But people always discourage it.thanks for having back!
Man I remember watching yo videos when I was younger and I fell inlove with yo context I just found yo channel again
Hi Chris just want to say we watched your videos in automotive class so great work
OMG a Suzuki X-90 I had one of those when I was 18 I totally regret selling it can't find these Suzuki's anymore I bet it's hard to get parts. Excellent video
