@@melanievando2040 I have never heard of Greenville. But I just visited because by accident I stumbled upon it from a road trip from Pittsburgh. I did drive around Greenville to look at it
I bought a place with some land outside Kingsport in 2018, as a retirement place for the future. I’m so glad, what I paid $100k for in 2018 is now worth $300k. It’s not as affordable as it used to be, I don’t know if I could do it today. But I love the area and love spending summers there, getting away from the Florida heat.
I grew up with a father who was active duty army in fact he was the active duty army recruiter in greeneville Tennessee from 1989 to 1990 of all the places I lived growing up greene County Tennessee was the absolute best amazing people live there and they took me in as one of their own I plan on retiring there when it's that time. Great city in a great state nothing but love from a person from Missouri.
As someone who grew up and is still living in Greeneville. Unless you're into history there's really not a lot to do here. It's a beautiful little town and semi safe place to grow up, but like I said not much to do for the younger generations.
@@davec7354it's not that I don't want people living here because I do. I'm just letting people know that there really isn't much to do here for the younger generations.
Looking at the Crime Rate for Greenville it seems to be quite high for a possible retirement town close to the Mountains. Moving on to a Plan B next for a safer area in the Mountains of East, TN.
5-10 acres small house big shop surrounded by horse people and gun owners and no trailer parks in sight. This is what I'm looking for extra points for old farmhouses.
We are a pretty place here but before moving here please check the crime rates and laws for city & county because they are probably different from where you’re from.
@@strongtowerman9661 No place is without crime. We are about in the middle. There is a lot of theft due to drugs & homeless. Do research wherever you go.😊
Yes. Don’t move here and then start complaining about the farm smells, neighbors, etc. we did not invite you here. If you want to live here move with the intention of embracing the values that made this a great place to begin with!
I always joke about Greenville because, in the late '80s, some friends and I visited there after we graduating HS (from Nashville) and we couldn't understand some of the folks we talked to. It was like a foreign country to us in some respects. We absolutely loved the town and the people were very friendly. I don't know what it's like there today, so much may have changed. I do recall (again, in the late '80s) going for a stroll late at night and a cop stopped me and carded me. That had never happened to me in Nashville, but it had happened to me a couple times in Hendersonville and Goodlettsville.
Thank you for watching our channel and commenting. I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you visited Greeneville today. 3 big beautiful grocery stores plus an Aldi, Hobby Lobby, Marshall’s, Ross…plus new sit down restaurants and fast food restaurants. They even have a Chick fi la! I used to go to the gas station for a latte. Now there are several coffee shops to choose from including Starbucks. Still a small charming town but way more amenities.
@@LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee What is the political climate like there today. Nashville has always been quite liberal, from my recollection, and when I moved in the late 80s to a smaller city in the midwest, it was quite the culture shock! I would suspect Greenville, today, may be fairly moderate being in close proximity to Knoxville?
My wife and I are planning on moving from Florida to Tennessee. Interested in more information on what would be a good place to call home. Thanks for your information.

@@LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee You are so right. I just visited Gatlinburg and is just soo lovely around there. Beautiful scenery, mountains, hills, rivers. Everything in Florida is flat, plain and its just becoming unafordable
@@strongtowerman9661 You are so right. It(Florida) is becoming harder and harder to live here. I would like to live in a peaceful little town for the rest of my days. Florida used to offer that. No more
This used to be a good place to live.....then everybody moved here and cost of living went up, houses went up. And where I live they are giving outta Town people a hard time now because of it
I know what ya mean. This place isn't as good as people wanna let on. It's only big because of the famous folks that's got their names linked to it and that's all it. Nothing else. I've lives here since 2015 and I wished I never did, but my husband is from here and he praises this crap whole 😂 we've not had anything good come out of it an the folks aren't all friendly either. They're all either to rich, or just too depressed to socialize.
The California invaders are flooding my area! Housing prices have DOUBLED! And next will be property taxes to go sky high. Not to mention they bring their pagan ways with them
So just heard about Fairfield Glade. How does it compare to Greenville scenery and weather wise? Looking for cooler than Houston. Fairfield is cooler evidently. Looking for golf also.
I am not familiar with Fairfield Glade. I believe it is a few hours from Johnson City and it is a 55 plus resort/community. Although Northeast Tennessee does have many people 55 plus moving here, We don’t tend to have many designated 55+ communities in and around Johnson City. All of NE Tennessee is beautiful and Greeneville has some absolutely stunning views of the mountains. In regards to weather, I would think it would be quite similar in both areas. You also mentioned golf. Shad plays year round at several different golf courses throughout the Tri Cities.
Finding the inventory of homes in the Greeneville to be sparse at best. I'm just hoping the spring brings additional properties...I'm ready to be there.
Floridians, you know how you feel when you see New York license plates driving through Florida? Well, that is how North Carolinians and Tennesseans feel about Florida plates. Just an fyi..
Get ready for high land taxes. Both city and county. Plus 80 something for tags and registration. Yes we do have drugs and crime. Rent is not affordable here either.
Prices have certainly increased across the country and also here in TN. Homes in Northeast Tennessee are still more affordable in comparison to many other areas of the country. No state income tax and low property taxes are definitely attractive to most people.
Greeneville has one major problem: Overpopulation! It used to be a wonderful, small town. Now it is overwhelmed with way too many people! Why are you complicating our problem?
false. the one major problem in greeneville is the citizens already there. mostly horrible hypocrites. glad i left that shit hole. Economically depressed, 15 years minimum behind the times. 100 years behind in terms of mindset. Thankfully old money is dying and some decent humans are finally starting to come there
Money it’s always about money there should be small town laws that say once the town hits a certain population no one else is allowed to move there simple. 😊
I hated living in Greenville. The jobs are low wage and hard to find. The downtown is dead and most businesses dont last. People are polite enough but a lot of fake people too. Drugs are a real issue and the economy is rough. Not much good to say about Greeneville except a beautiful mountain view. They've been talking about revitalizing downtown for two decades 😅

I don't see how showing ID is mandatory.
