We were just there and the driving tours were extremely helpful to give a broad view of the various areas. We were able to narrow it down to 3 towns based on these, which was the whole purpose of our visit.

I was just there last week. I didn't realize how big Johnson City was. I really like Bluff City, Jonesborough and Elizabethton.

Thank you for another helpful video. Next time we’re up there we definitely want to take your driving tours to help us narrow down an area or town. We’re still in the very beginning planning stages at this point.

We just bought a home in jonesborough, and we'll rent it out until we can move in 4 years.

Are you living out of state? Just need info on how to manage a place when you live far away. I love to hear how people do things step by step so I limit the overwhelm!

Yes, we live in California. We became very good friends with our realtor, and he's managing the house for us. But any real estate company can manage a rental for you.

@@traceystanphill725 thank you. Good to know. We have our third visit to NE TN in October, once a year. We don’t have a date in mind to go yet. My husband just turned 60 and works for the electric company in NJ. For me, location is secondary to having well water and a basement, and both are harder to find! Nothing flat though. I think we may move into a rental first, sell our house and then be able to view listings as soon as they come up in person. Even if we lived an hour away, it’s closer than the 9 hours from NJ or on a computer.

Sounds like you have a good plan in place! We literally bought our home after our first visit to NE tennessee! We loved it that much. Then, after losing out on three other homes, we bought this home from nothing more than a video walk thru by our agent. We weren't sure about it when we first saw it in person, but we fell in love with it by the end of the week. Good luck to you and your husband!

What’s the earliest you can close on a house in East Tennessee if you’re paying cash?

If you are doing inspections and we always recommend that you do, 30 days. Possibly 3 weeks.

I understand you’re maybe cashing in on a historic success as real estate agents. You work all your career and you’ve finally had the big break you’ve seen other colleagues in different states and cities experience. I beg you though, as a fellow born and raised East Tennessean, please slow down. Your mass advertisement does in fact speed things up, faster than local codes and planning commissions can make changes. If you are doing this, participate in the meetings to stop the high density destruction of farm land. I know you can still be successful. Please consider your mass advertisement on this platform.

There is a housing crisis in this country, as well as a cultural shift taking place. People like me are trying to hold on to a lifestyle that is vanishing in large swaths of America.
That this realty enterprise is "speed(ing) things up, faster than local codes and planning commissions can make changes" may be a valid point. Your suggestion that they "participate in the meetings to stop the high density destruction of farm land" is probably a good point too. I'm glad you mentioned it to them.
I will be moving to East Tennessee as a renter, only. No farm land destruction from me, though I will be increasing the demands on the infrastructure. But I have no children and I intend to play my role as a law-abiding citizen as long as I am alive. These realtors are providing a service to Americans who have the where-with-all to retire with grace. I am proud to become an East Tennessean. I will be an asset to my neighbors, to the entrepreneurs who will sell me food and clothing, to the nurses and doctors who sell me their services, and to my new home.

Welcome to the times of the internet and money. The west is already being ruined after 2020. Why not start ruining the nice places of the east as well? Humans are great aren't they?

You will be "increasing the demands on infustriction ". Really?? I wouldn't move to Tennessee demanding ANYTHING! further more we take care of things ourselves...you think that might be why land taxes are low? We won't to keep them that way!! Why move and demand something.... before you even move 😊😡
