I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

I've lived in Greeneville. Lots of the young belowing to get out. 3rd highest wheel tax, increasing land taxes (and if you live in the city, expect to pay county land tax as well), and not a whole lot to do. The "shopping" would be exciting if you had money after paying for basics to shop much. And if you're not outdoorsy, expect to be bored, and poor.
Im unfortunately in Ca and am looking to retire in 1 1/2 years to the tri cities area, my son went to King University and became an RN in Johnson City. I love it there and cant wait!!!!

@@truderenken3248 At least with sales tax you have a little control on what you buy and thus how much tax is paid. Income tax is less forgiving. And if you're lucky enough to live close enough to a border state with lower sales tax you can do at least some of your shopping there. Sales tax is also deductible on federal tax if you itemize. It isn't all bad.

It is difficult to pinpoint just one. There are so many small towns in Tennessee that are close to hospitals, etc. We mention 7 of them in “7 Small Towns in Northeast Tennessee”.
@@lorenamorfin5946 I've had my PCP for 14 years now it's 5 months to get an appt. 6 to 8 months to get a dental appointment if you have an emergency doesn't matter. Health care offices are only open 4 days a week or less they have so many patients they don't have to worry. Dentists have stopped taking insurance, cash or credit card with an extra 2.3 %. Homesteading Is a joke. Real Estate investors from California buying up all the property. Now I'm looking to move out of the Tri-Cities don't know how far away I'll have to go.

I lived in Greeneville and now its not cheap, very short on rental places, and expensive. All these small towns housing has gone up 300 percent. Honestly I'm retired can't find a rental I can afford. 800 a month apt your income has to be 3200 a month. Outsiders have come in and bought up everything, now original residents can't afford to live here. There are lots of homeless here. To rent a home 3 br nice, 4200 a month
Most homes have doubled in value over the past five years. Home prices have gone up significantly across the country. There is a shortage of homes in the US.

Maybe revise your graphics when you put up the population figures. At least double them since there has been a major influx of people in this area. As someone who is in the midst of setting up a relocation for a family of 4 from NY, this is actually partially offensive. Most of us are actually from Upstate and lumping us with the city is considered rude. We are NOTHING like the folks from the city, but they are the reason the state is the way it is. Hence why so many of us leave.

I can understand why local people get nervous, they hear ny and think "city" but what they need to realize is states like ny, cal have a vast population of hard working, conservative minded people. Hey! I have lived in Greeneville for the past 10 years. I have not had any issues with crime firsthand, and it’s a nice community. There are of course some occasional rough looking folks you may cross paths with, but honestly that’s anywhere in a small rural town in the south east. Like I said, I haven’t had any issues with crime firsthand. The schools are decent and it’s truly a beautiful place. If you want to be closer to a bigger city though, I would consider looking closer to Johnson city like Jonesborough or Elizabethton.

I can only get internet from the phone company, it didn’t even work.
We have very good hospitals in Greeneville and Johnson City. Good trout fishing and turkey hunting all throughout east Tennessee.

Great place. We did that two years ago and love it.
No income tax, but 9.75% sales tax on everything, including services and even food at grocery stores! Believe me, it is significant.

Can you tell me how close to a VA Medical Centre? And would it be Knoxville TN?
There is a highly rated VA hospital in Johnson City. James H Quillen Medical Center. All 7 towns in this video are 30 miles or less to Johnson City.

Johnson City Medical is a level one trauma center. It is one of six level one trauma centers in Tennessee.

@@JohnDeering-u8fCalifornia is a great place. I love what they’ve done with the state. Affordable in tent living with outdoor bathrooms galore. Oh and private property. If the state can’t tax it your neighbors will take it.

Jonesborough is a beautiful rural town. It is the oldest town in Tennessee with a very pretty historical downtown area.

You couldn’t pay me to live in or anywhere near Johnson City ! Lived there for 3yrs , let’s just say it left a bad taste in my mouth ! And the VA hospital there was horrible , back when we lived there it ( VA ) had a bad reputation !
