    How does the bag fit into the Datavac Pro vacuum? I watched a video (I can't find it now) where the bag was held by what looked like a plastic retention device. Does your vacuum include something like this? The end cap is loose and kinda cheap fitting. Moreover, Metrovac doesn't provide any guiding documents. Nothing of instructional value came with the vacuum. Their website has terrible images and I couldn't find instructions or documents there either. Thanks for the review btw 👍

    What do you mean about using something to block the fans parts from spinning up(off?) from the blower because it can damage the fans or reduce lifespan? thanks...

    • @ThatsItGuys
      @ThatsItGuys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fans are meant to spin up to a certain RPM, so if you spin them too fast, you can damage them. When you use air compressors & blowers like this, you should use a stick or a pencil to prevent them from moving. It also helps let the air pass through when they're over a heatsink as well.

    Hmm - still looking for data on ESD, since I last zapped my graphics card - probably the metal nozzle / powered wand combo - but - I want to know.

    • @MisterDivineAdVenture

      @@railewolfe573 Actually I was cleaning the thing - power off - using a vacuum cleaner - like an office sized unit. Turns out moving air gets charged electrically - and that will build up static charges on the hose and nozzle. use extreme caution. Anti-static spray would be called for first.

    How would you rate the suction on this unit with each multiple attachments? I currently have a Datavac air duster but need a vacuum. How much suction does this have? Would it be able to suck up dust/crumbs from between keyboard keys without removing them?

    • @ThatsItGuys
      @ThatsItGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a button that puts pressure against the adapters on the ED500. This wasn't on the vac/blower for some reason when I bought it. I only had one of the smaller parts fly off, but I just put it on tighter and it's been fine.

      Last I checked with him, Yousef still uses his DataVac Pro without issue. I use the DataVac ED500 (reviewed shortly before this video) all the time. I didn't want the vacuum and the extra bulk from it, so that's why I went with that. Both are a good choice, it just depends on whether you want the vacuum or not. -Shane

    My friend, does it work for toner?

    • @ThatsItGuys
      @ThatsItGuys  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to the manufacturer, no. You would need the MDV-2 (amzn.to/2dwjCNh) or MDV-3 (amzn.to/2e6Otyn) and one of these toner filter kits (amzn.to/2dwj6yx). I've never had experience vacuuming up toner, but apparently using a regular vac or the blower/vac we reviewed in this video will blow toner particles into the room, which explains the need for the extra filters.
      Alternatively, use an old damp rag and throw it out after cleaning.

    why are there so many videos warning not to vacuum your pc and to use a blower instead?

    • @ThatsItGuys
      @ThatsItGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never seen that. As long as your PC isn't on, you don't use metal hoses, and you don't let your fan move while vacuuming or air dusting, you should be fine. It's always good to ground yourself before making any contact with electronics, too. You can do this by touching bare metal on your case.

    • @Shaggy2286
      @Shaggy2286 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      th-cam.com/video/jqsMYftsMNM/w-d-xo.html - Here's why... plastic hoses create static which means possible electric arcs into your computer which could fry something. Apparently the big industrial vacuums can kill if not grounded properly. This is why you don't plug a vacuum into an ungrounded outlet.
      However, I doubt the short run time and hose length on this Vac, plus only sucking in light dust, will cause enough static to do any damage. Even if it did, most likely you will be absorbing the static since your hand will be at the end of the hose. So ground yourself well, one time grounding is not enough. Constant would be best, but simply make a habit of touching the metal on the computer case (bare metal, not painted metal) and you'll probably be fine (worked for me so far).
