Hey, thanks for what you do with the honest review s, have been watching for a fair bit now. Could you consider a comparison between AC electric/ battery powered chainsaw s? Started using the AC one's over 20 years ago because of the lighter weight, and have a couple of battery ones that work okay, but wondering on how they technically compare. Thanks for considering. ✌️😎
I got a really funny one of these about a month ago on aliexpress. It's built out of a cloned Milwaukee drill shell with 3D printed parts and one of those "130000 rpm" turbine. It takes M12 batteries and has a standard Milwaukee drill trigger. So far I'm pretty satisfied and it looks hilarious.
It's hard to say because performance at 1st trigger pull is much better than performance 50% way through a bottle. But around 170mph and 8cfm, velocity can be increased over 180 with the small tube
I have one of these and found it very useful. The main issue that is too common is the battery that dies rapidly and stop charging after a few months of use. I've M12-modded mine by cutting the handle and epoxy a cheap M12 to bare wire adapter from Amazon and now work very well, no more fear of battery dying. One saved from e-waste.
Meliff has one powered by DeWalt batteries which I use for dusting my PC. Trying it with an 8 AH or some other spicy battery variant sounds like it'd be up your alley
If you haven't purchased one before, I can tell you with a 4 AH battery it's also powerful enough for me to use it for blowing leaves, dirt and pigeon poop off my balcony and I think they make a Milwaukee variant too if you you're with the red army
the Wolfbox is $62.99 on a black friday sale. Definitely going to scoop one of those up. I've been using an old generic rechargable air duster for a few years now but its clearly not even in the same league of power as these new models.
If you're branching out, maybe do USB power banks? I'm just not sure what to suggest as parameters to limit how many you get. I know I'm mostly interested in the high power ones that put out at least 100w (20v @5A) on a single port to power my laptop and soldering iron.
@@joshuagibson2520 I don't know that's why it's a want need. I need to want one despite not knowing they existed. It's like the 10th cookie after you are full, you still want it though you know you don't need it.
@longlowdog Me neither. I just bought a compressor last week, mainly for using the air jet to clean out parts. Now I'm wondering if one of these would have done the job just as well for far less money and at a far smaller size.
It's hard to say because performance at 1st trigger pull is much better than performance 50% way through a bottle. But around 170mph and 8cfm, velocity can be increased over 180 with the small tube
One thing I'd love for you to include when testing things that charge via a USB-C port is whether they'll charge from a USB-C charger or not. It's surprising how many devices won't and require a USB-A charger with an A-to-C cable.
@piciu256 The crazy thing is that if you plug any old USB-A device into that same USB-C charger, it will work fine. So it's like these non-C charging devices are forcing it into PD mode, but then not negotiating anything. Maybe all cables that would make that connection happen have some circuitry to tell the charger to go into USB-A mode? I don't think that's right, but I suppose it could be.
Just when I needed a gift idea for the tool guy that has everything. You not only give the solution, but the best solution. Do you ever get tired of putting out the best content on TH-cam? Thanks TTC!
Tip for future: mAh is not great unit for measuring battery life, because energy stored in a cell changes when you use different voltages (some 18650 allow charging up to 4.35V for a little extra juice. Ror an example, see LG ICR18650 E1). This is particularly important when charging. Depending on electronics you have different losses on changing voltage from USB 5V to cell voltage. Reporting in Wh (watt-hours) is a bit better, it gives you energy independent of the voltage, but to really get to the bottom of this you would have to open each tool, check what is internal electronics cutoff voltage and then use an external charger to see actual energy the cell will take. I can point you in a direction of more info if you are up for it.
Wh is always better, but we usually compare to what they advertise - so it can be a bit tricky. Hard to call them out on wind speed velocity if we're using an objectively better PRESSURE reading for example
I think this is a good observation, but I just want to point out that you can't choose to "use" a different voltage directly from a battery. You get the voltage that it produces. I guess maybe you mean that some batteries can be charged to higher voltages than others, but the voltage is changing as it discharges anyway. You can obviously regulate voltage after you get power from the battery, but that's just trading voltage for current. I wonder if these mAh meters are measuring the current-time at some regulated voltage or if they're just measuring it at whatever voltage the battery is producing.
@@wbfaulk Yes, of course that what I meant - the voltage is battery dependent, not user dependent :). The 4.35V LiIon will have a higher average voltage, so the same number of mAh will actually carry a bit more energy. LG actually lists they effective voltage as 3.75V as opossed to 3.7V for typical 4.2V cutoff cells. Similarly if you change chemistry (for example LiPo to LiFe), you end up with "different' mAh. This is just to illustrate how deceiving mAh may be. @TorqueTestChannel True - they use stupid unit for advertisement :). The losses on different charging circuits may be throwing your results off a bit, but at least we have a straight comparison. It may be worth noting, that when you are charging @5V constant, you will read less mAh then actually goes into battery if there is a switching regulator in the line, so they may be advertising a true capacity in some cases.
If you revisit these again you should add the ATEngeus (sort of popular brand) and the DataVac (highly recommended brand on various subreddits for use replacing disposible compressed air cans)
I built myself one of these using the motor from a broken Dyson V8, some custom 3d printed parts and a Ferrex 20v 5ah battery, turbo pulls about 400w and its extremely powefull. Much larger than these but still very usefull!
I'm 7 minutes into this video and I'm having visions about just running some underground compressed air piping into my house from the outbuilding to clean out my computer. (Yeah I can just run a hose out or buy a small pancake compressor for in the house). Yes I know, this is unnecessary as well.
I want to build a silent compressor out of a fridge compressor and air tank. Would be perfect for cleaning computers without the "I can't hear you" levels of noise a small compressor typically makes.
I've got a few of the "Compressed Air Duster, 110000RPM Electric air Duster for Keyboard Cleaner, Reusable no Canned Air Duster,7600mAh Rechargeable Cordless Compressed Air Kit for Car Dust Remover (Plastic)" AR100 ones, and I'm happy with them for dusting. First saw it on Linus Tech Tips. I have used it to blow off a lawn mower, along with more standard uses. They're $24 for Black Friday. Just ordered one for a gift. Like others have stated, would be good to include the canned air in the measurements for comparison. Thank you for doing these and keep up the great work.
I got one called FIHECAL for $25ish and cleaned out a server rack full of 4U servers (which were gross) on one charge. Worked well for that task which would have been 3-4 cans of air, so half the cost or more. Nothing like my big compressor can put out but it fits in a small handbag! The other day I was using my Cuisinart food processor for a long time and the motor was overheating so I ran this on low for 20 minutes or so on its side to make it an air-cooled Cusinart and that worked great. USB-C is perfect for these.
I bought a white, KUKIHO branded one on Amazon for around $25. It's advertised fan speed is 180,000rpm, using a 3300mAh battery. It works well and can legitimately replace a duster can or, to an extent, a battery powered shop blower(definitely not a full size leaf blower).
Beat me to it 😂 I did order one of these, because I wanted to see what it was like in reality. I love making my cheap tool videos. There are some bargains out there! 😅
I tried the link 3x for the Wolfbox, but it was selling for $89.99 and no discount for BF. When I finish using the few cans of air I have, I just might look into one of these. Thanks!
Oh boy this came out at just the right time. I'm seriously considering one of these because I can see the dust build up inside my new Lian Li computer case.
$80 is about 24 cans of compressed air for us. We were considering an air compressor for our computer repair bench but this may be a better option if it lasts.
Thank you. I have an "IT Dusters CompuCleaner", mains powered duster, and it is quite cumbersome to use, so I may look at investing in a Wolfbox if I can find a good supplier for the UK (currently not Amazon UK but can import from Amazon US). Oddly, Wolfbox don't sell the duster via their own site in the UK.
Get a DataVac on the charts! Granted, they don't have a battery/cordless option but they're powerful and THE go-to for bulk computer de-dusting, like you'd find in a computer repair shop where the dusting station is... stationary.
Its hard to beat an 80 gallon tank pressurized to 200 psi through an unregulated non-OSHA old-school Amflo blowgun. That said, my buddy works for a sprinkler system company and the compressor they use to blow out water for the winter is a monstor.
Damn, that wolfbox would be genuinely useful for me; I can see it easily drying a small well cleaned car and removing fluffy snow with ease. Shame it'd be like $150 cdn to even have a chance at one.
@@TorqueTestChannel Yes, they do, and the official name is the 'CineWind CW20.' It is a 'Multipurpose Pocket Photography Fan,' according to Nitecore. Can you test the hikoki/metebo and or the makita duster? I bought the hikoki on eBay from Japan and run a ridgid battery adapter. We took a beach camping trip last new years in Texas and that thing saved the day. We blew every blanket, tent, towel, garment, trailer, truck etc out when we packed out. We had sand everywhere and it dramatically reduced how much we took home.

Nice review. I wish you had a column for accuracy of claims. It could be boolean... 0=met all claims, 1=did not meet all claims. Or whatever values make sense. You do this in a better way with torque but a bool for these other kind of products might be simple to do and at least penalize the crazy claims.
New craftsmen rp impact driver and hammer drill r out and Ingersoll Rand came out with sockets to fit the spline impact wrench that you can switch out anvils also cat came out with gen 2
if these were a little cheaper id probably get one but for now i think ill just take my keyboard or pc to the air compressor not sure what else use these would be ideal for
i got something like this that i plug into the wall and its larger. i use it so rarely that the wire isn't a big deal, but i imagine its between these gadgets and an air compressor in terms of capability and convenience. It can dust like a mf. it was like 30$ on amazon lol.
These are cool but seem a little pricey. I might check one out if the better ones were like $30 but having shop air available I could never justify $80
Well, since you started with these "cheap" models, i have Makita´s DAS180. Would love to see comparison of that and other brands 18-20V blowers. Unless you already have. You do this in a better way with torque but a bool for these other kind of products might be simple to do and at least penalize the crazy claims.
kica jetfan 2 vs Wolfbox would be awesome
The top two seem fairly similar in real world testing. Which one would you go for?
Which ever was cheapest at the time, if similar price the Wolfbox feels nicers
New craftsmen rp impact driver and hammer drill r out and Ingersoll Rand came out with sockets to fit the spline impact wrench that you can switch out anvils also cat came out with gen 2
if these were a little cheaper id probably get one but for now i think ill just take my keyboard or pc to the air compressor
not sure what else use these would be ideal for
I want to know where they come up with these brand names.
Do you have a link for that food service ? For when I get tired of Thanksgiving leftovers ya know...
i got something like this that i plug into the wall and its larger. i use it so rarely that the wire isn't a big deal, but i imagine its between these gadgets and an air compressor in terms of capability and convenience. It can dust like a mf. it was like 30$ on amazon lol.
I would love to get one of the wolfbox blowers. Sadly it seems like they aren’t available in Germany
I need to dig your info on what you have tested and what not. But next time i´d be buying a tool, i´ll seek your sheets. (Makita for me, since invested...)
Walmart has a decent one
I bought one of these a few months ago for dusting out my PC and I guess you can say it really "blows" I was not impressed.
Happy Thanksgiving fellas!
is it possible/likely that the fan in the back sucks in some debris and destroys itself?
Fascinating.
I’ll stick with my xpower cyberduster corded.
