I probably have a similar experience to many others. The Fallout Universes Beyond set was the single thing that got me into Magic. I enjoyed it so much I got both my siblings into Magic. 3 months strong. I love the set 100% and kept all 4 commander precons as is to play them against each other.

Really had fun with the Commander decks. The flavor with some of the cards was a plus.

We got allocated 1/4 of the Collector Displays, No play boosters, and only 1 of the commander decks were sought after but we are down to 1 deck being sold at cost. So we didn't get stuck with a ton of dead product. Missed out on about 90% of the profit that could have been made.

My favorite MTG set of all time . I would love to see a sequel set.

I’m not discounting flavor or power level, but production level, or print run, is a very important variable in the financial value equation.
The popularity of Fallout exceeds the availability of product, pushing prices higher. In the other hand, Murders at Karlov was printed at numbers that exceeded popularity, hense the downward pricing pressure.
Had WotC better understood demand, perhaps they would have ordered less of one, and more of the other, creating price stability for both.
WotC appears protective of its rented IP’s, or perhaps limited by contract. This makes me bullish on those products going forward. Clearly, it’s no problem overprinting a weird Clue product, but negotiated production controls dictate higher value for Spider-Man.

Still need to purchase that Fallout surge foil borderless Sol Ring for my Sol Ring collection before it goes up too much more in price (currently sitting at about $180).

Those surge foils on tier 2 fallout cards were criminally undervalued on release because people equated them with LOTR print volume.
I still argue Fallout collectors is somewhat of a scam when they stripped out the Vault Boy art so they could sell it to us in Secret Lairs (Mana Vault).

Almost perfect except they slightly underestimated demand hence the underprinting. Kinda sucks but it happens. I don’t play much EDH and I played a whole weekend of Fallout precon 4 player jamming it was awesome.
I’m still mixed on your UB = reserved list take, I see where you are coming from but I think it only really applies to playable cards that have additional aesthetic value / are iconic within that now restricted IP.
And yes HometownTCG modern gameplay vids plz lol

That’s why I’m kind of on the fence. A “reserved list lite” if you will.
Modern gameplay would be so fun right now with MH3 hitting. Aspiringspike has put out some really fun stuff with new brews

We’ll see if Wizards throws more of them up on Amazon for under market price like they’ve done with Wilds of Eldraine, Ixalan, and Lord of the Rings Special
