@kiwi_commander me and my wife just bought our first commander precons to start playing and when the clerk was explaining some new precon decks to us they ranged from $35-$100 just cause "that's what they go for" was a big pill to swallow and almost put me off completely.
Confirming that you’re my go-to channel for MtG news, and I’ve been playing Magic since Revised. Your videos are straight to the point, no bull no filler!!
2025 is STACKED for Magic! I am so excited. I'm even more excited because 2025 is my 10 year anniversary of playing Magic, I started with Dragons of Tarkir coming out so Tarkir Dragonstorm is going to be a very special set for me. I am going to go all out on that set haha!
the guy at 13:39 is one of the main bad guys from FF14 and easily one of the most popular characters in the whole franchise, he's definitely one of the precon commanders. He's like the FF equivalent of a Lich king that acts like an Alan Rickman character
The guy you said looks insane from the FF art was Emet-Selch from FF14 and he is one of the best antagonist/villains they have ever made im 100% making a deck with him.
I hope when they meant that the Final Fantasy set covers 1 through 16 they mean all games released inbetween the two. If they really are just focusing on just the mainline games then they are missing one of the most well-known spin-off games of the franchise, Tactics. Plus it would also be nice to see Record Keeper and Brave Exvius get some love. Like Tyro (Record Keeper protagonist) would make an interesting WUBRG card and Rain (Brave Exvius protagonist) possibly shifting between himself and Hyoh, maybe being a BRG card.
the release of foundations is the best part for me as a new player, trying to get older cards for building decks has been a really difficult issue for me getting into the game.
As someone who likes the idea of UB. I really liked the idea of keeping standard and pioneer exclusive to in universe sets. This really kills my enthusiasm for both those formats when I was just starting to get into them. That combined with the 6 standard legal sets a year now just makes it too much to keep track of. So looks like I will be sticking with Limited and Commander.
At least the spongebob thing is just a secret lair. I doubt there will be mechanically unique cards in it, but maybe since they're announcing it so soon there will be but I kinda hope not. It could be a bunch of silly white bordered cards.
The character you mention looking crazy is Emet-Selch from FF14, specifically, he is a fan favorite villain from the 3rd expansion. Dont start with that game unless you have a small year to catch up on content thoough.
I was just getting into standard, but UB being standard legal is going to kill it for me. Enjoy Weiss Schwarz: the Gathering. I am going back to the kitchen table.
@@TaunaMTG unless I misheard during the live stream. I swear I heard him say starting 2027 it's all a 1 year rotation. Something along the lines of its easier to balance play for a 1 year rotation? I could be wrong... *just checked, yea it's looking like standard will have a 1 year rotation. Makes sense now foundations is a 9+year rotation. And they are going to bombard us with sets to stay competitive...
@@MrMADMADHATTER1 not quite, it's just changing the timing of when the rotation occurs in a given year. Instead of it happening in the fall, it'll start at the beginning of the year
1st off … 100% onboard with the SpongeBob hate … prolly my #1 most hated cartoon … moving on! So glad I found your channel I followed you during my MSF days loved your content then super excited to see you coving MtG!
But what is the un announced universes beyond is Monster Hunter! There is a new game early next year and they would have an insane amount of stuff to work with.
Honestly im just kinda upset that we have so many ub a year it’s now 50% cash grab, 50% magic idk it just makes me feel uneasy. i really like some of the ub but i want another 3 set release i really loved those and that idea is further and further away at this point
not a fan of UB coming into 60 card formats but since this is already set in stone it is a damn shame that Assassin's Creed is not going into standard retroactively. The set has no value outside commander.
@erichmahnke5806 I don't remember where I heard it so take my words with a grain of salt, but the Marvel UB would happen across multiple years and this is just the 1st of many sets from my understanding. So other years will have other sets centered on different characters etc.
Im heavilly disappointed. First: Many if not majority of the players don't really like Universes Beyond... So WotC pushes UB even harder. Seriously, out of 5 sets in a year we are getting 2 Universes Beyond sets from universes that doesn't even fit MTG? If I would like to play Marvel TCG I wouldn't play Magic. It doesn't make any sense. Second: Seems like they didn't learned their lesson in 2024 at all with the Aetherdrift. People are tired of the "carnival ride" type sets (hey look everyone have cowboy/detective hat how special!) so WotC creates another one. Why we can't just get a normal, serious set? Everything nowadays have to be... I dunno how to call it? Quirky? Seriously, God damn death race set? How we are supposed to take the story seriously when its on the same level as Mario Kart.

I'm so glad they are bringing back MSRP. Vendors increasing the price of sealed products really drove away newer players. Total win in my book.

That sephiroth artwork is legendary 🔥
Bless you for making this, it's WAY too hard to find clear concise information about this.

Found this channel only recently and so far it's been better than the “bigger”channels on youtube. Great content, keep it up man

the pause from the sponge bob secret lair hahahahahahaah
Legitimately so happy MSRP is back
Tauna will have to give us a Sponge Bob commander deck tech :P
Very glad I held off on getting Edgar Markov, the new art looks sick!
Tauna is killing it. :)
u really are the best news source for mtg! i stumbled upon you a while back now im an regular watcher!
The guy you said looks insane from the FF art was Emet-Selch from FF14 and he is one of the best antagonist/villains they have ever made im 100% making a deck with him.
Love the news!!!! Thank you
12:39 He shoved Bolas into his meditation realm and is keeping watch. He can leave at any time, and just chooses not to
You are so fast. You should stream LOL. Info are still happening on X

@@dericplummer9272 Don't worry, the UB sets will be so power-crept that you won't actually need to care about all 6 sets.
was really excited for lorywn
We got a SpongeBob/MTG crossover before GTA 6
That guy you like from the FF set is Emet Selch from FF14 and he's arguably the best antagonist in the series.
Edgar Markov getting a reprint is all I ever wanted.
The guy with the white lock of hair is from final fantasy 14 a villain
Think I'm gonna like the slower pace of set releases this upcoming year.
Great content! Thanks!
Where can I find the full video of the Panel discussion?
It'll be up on TH-cam soon
Tauna hussling! Glad to see it 🎉
It wouldn’t surprise me if the UUB is SpongeBob but it’s the new “un” set.
FYI it's not AM-Ke-Het. It's Ah-Mon-Khet.
No my boy Garruk got dirty again, he should be the face of green planeswalkers again
I CANNOT WAIT FOR FINAL FANTASY!!!! AAAAAAAH
At least the spongebob thing is just a secret lair. I doubt there will be mechanically unique cards in it, but maybe since they're announcing it so soon there will be but I kinda hope not. It could be a bunch of silly white bordered cards.
It is secret lair only
The character you mention looking crazy is Emet-Selch from FF14, specifically, he is a fan favorite villain from the 3rd expansion. Dont start with that game unless you have a small year to catch up on content thoough.
Thanks, I love him

Sothera, the Supervoid? Looks like a sentient black hole...
Spiderman? (rolls eyes)
Spongebob wasn't dumb until after the movie
1 year rotation is going to be interesting. Including UB into other formats is amazing.
I don't think it's 1 year rotation, did I miss that?

I really really want an elder scrolls universes beyond. It would be amazing
Where is the stream?
Love how all of the UB “conspiracy theorists” were right all along. No longer a small amount of sets each year
But what is the un announced universes beyond is Monster Hunter! There is a new game early next year and they would have an insane amount of stuff to work with.
I'm disappointed that lorwyn is pushed back
Can’t wait for SpongeBob!
What if the UUB is a set full of Influencers? Lol
Solemn simu what???

100%… it’s obvious by UB being standard legal.

hold on did u just say solumn simalacarium?
I can't say it's name lol
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea???????
foundation will be legal until 2029 but it will be January 1, 2029 or December 31, 2029
so the big marvel set is only spider man? that sucks. i was hoping for more Xmen characters like cyclops. other characters like ghost rider and such

Fkin SpongeBob lol no thanks. At least it's just a secret lair.. I hope hahahaaa
Tarkir could be nice but could also fail. FF and Edge look amazing. The rest MEHHH.
They really need to only do 4 sets a year... Every 2 months is ridiculous.
6 sets a year is okay, if they weren't all standard....
@@TaunaMTG It really isn't. It's just fatiguing. 3 Std sets + maybe 1 other tentpole set a year is the sweet spot.
No Lorwyn, replaced by an extra UB product; A freaking Spongebob Secret Lair. I may skip most of this, maybe getting some final fantasy lets see
Smart for banning spongebob that show became garbage like most long running shows
