This is a VERY GOOD detector, but not for my use. It picks up EVERYTHING. So it gives a fuck ton of false alarms. I just got a Escort Max360, and I already love it. It auto learns the false alarms. But if you drive on the highway constantly. Get the Valentine 1.
I just bought the latest Valentine one with latest version and software drove from Jacksonville to Orlando vs versus saw about 10 State Troopers on side of the road and my radar never went off I'm so disappointed on this radar.
I finally bought a V1 after getting another ticket last week. >.< Going to put it in my 350Z. Did you end up hard-wiring it? I want to hard-wire mine except I'm not sure how it's done for the Z or any car in particular.. did you make a "how to" video for your hard-wire? Or is there like a site that tells you how it's done? ***** it would be wired from the fuse box and hide the wire around the A pillar up to the top and have the power hanging from the mirror, or if you have a fancy mirror with power, you can hook it in that way as well:) Also, run the WAZE app asap! Its free and most all the cops are already pointed out on there!

Gabriel Ali its not that hard if you want to go that route. Just need to buy the hardwire kit if you don't have one, basically run it through the roof and around the pillar down into the fuse box and it plugs into an open slot. There is a few videos of this on youtube to help you out:)
So is this the 1.8? I just bought a 1.8 and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Can't wait! From some radar forums I noticed some people prefer the 1.7 over the 1.8. Thought after owning it?
yah its the latest version, it was ordered mid December. I can tell you it goes off a lot sniffing out the smallest things. I just need to turn off xband because wow does it go off with that ALOT. Always hitting the mute button which can be a bit irritating! Just turn that of and its great!
2013 Camaro works like a champ, I have Xband turned off of course and will probably turn off K band soon as the stupid CVS/Walgreens and such always set it off! All of the police in my area and the Florida state troopers always use KA band. It definitely sniffs out the police miles away at times! Great overall product. The only negative I could say is that you cant tell which dot is lit up at night for the warning. My Escort Redline actually reads K or KA band on screen.

Chase Johnson Escort makes a great detector, I have a Redline from them, excellent all around. Just remember, the one time investment in a high end detector will possibly save you many tickets that are hundreds each and then push your insurance up as well. Its an investment in the end, even if you never get a ticket, how many did it save you? Also, run the Waze app (which is free btw) on your phone or tablet when your on the road!

tyler dowd let me tell you right away, when it comes to saving you 200 or more on one ticket alone, don't cheap out if you don't have to. If you literally cant afford 400 change then you can get the top of the line whistler and it will work of course. However, if you are making sure your butt is covered, get this or the Escort Redline which actually slightly beats this in distance and is also easy to use. I own both. Also let me suggest you add Waze to your phone so you can use that for any long distance drives etc. The Waze app is amazing and literally tells you miles ahead where police were reported!

You just have to turn K band off anymore or you will go insane on a road trip thinking cops are every 5 miles. I like the fact that the V1 had the arrows but the patent on that is now up so Escort has a top end detector that is also now available with arrows. I always had a hard time figuring out which band was going off on my V1 till I got used to the sound due to it's only a dot that lights up. The Escort actually displays it so you know right away.

Darkmand8 I use an app on my phone called WAZE. it's free and people use it to update others where police are, accidents are, traffic is, etc. I would say about 90% of the time it is correct when it comes to police locations. I am already slowing down before my radar even has a chance to warn me in case the police have moved. The mini map shows about 6 miles ahead of you so you see those police markers, you begin to slow down in case they are still in the area. About 2 miles out my detectors will start warning if they are there but with 6 mile warning, it's hard to beat!
Darkmand8 no the waze app is just a mini map like your GPS, you can use it for directions or whatever. It has nothing to do with the detector. Its people run so if you see a cop, and it isn't reported yet, you just click the report police button there on the screen. Then it advises everyone in the area for the next 30 mins or so that there was police reported here at such and such time. Then people can thumb it up and agree if there are in fact cops there or put not there anymore if the police are gone which clears the mini map of police so others dont see a false marking.
I had the option of getting that one. Heres my personal thoughts. I like the arrows and I know that V1 has been a killer detector and a top one for years on end. The max is new plus doesn't have the protection from the back. The V1 has the antenna in the back as well. I do like the lockout features that the Max and 9500ix have but what if it locks out when you get to it and a cop is actually there? Or with the max screen, will it be washed out with the sun?? I live in Florida and I just couldn't take the chance.

I have owned 3 now and YES!! It is 100% worth every penny!!
So where I live you can't possess radar detectors, but I want a chime similar to that when I turn my key on, is there anything like that?
