Not to mention they are 40 bucks for one filter
Anti drain back is very important! The factory Duramax filter housing does not have an anti drain back valve so without this severe engine damage will occur due to oil pump pumping air to vital engine bearings and components during initial start up. Like a fresh oil change every morning you start the truck. The oil will be drained from the motor oil galleys.
Mark Smith a gentleman on the duramax forum did a ton of research and came up with 2 top filters Donaldson and then cat 1807 debunking a lot of facts with oil filters

Also the CAT filter is mounted completely vertical on a CAT engine compared to almost horizontal mounting on the Duramax which would further allow the CAT oil filter to drain oil back into the oil pan after engine is turned off.
Mark Smith all I am saying is the the oil from the cat filter or any filter to that matter would have to flow up hill to leave the filter. There’s a kid online I don’t remember that puts a hole his cat filter before changing it and over a Qt of oil comes out of it. The drain back valve I don’t think makes that big deal especially since the cat filter is a 2qt filter.
