    When you suggest that one should spray their arms, isn't that counter-intuitive when wearing long sleeves? That leaves the neck area (and potentially the clavicle area) as the only 'available' patch of skin that's exposed, but then you still advise against that since alcohol is an astringent. Would you say there are any ways to work around that, or potential alternatives? Thanks in advance!

    You tell 'em about those coffee beans Roja! 😂 I'm a bit of a coffee connoisseur myself and every time an SA attempts to push those horridly oxidized granules under my nose, I shudder in protest. Thanks to you though, I stopped spraying my neck ages ago. The supraclavicular fossa is definitely the way to go. This was a wonderful video!

      @maximalsakerhet7930 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you think about spraying behind the ears?

    • @justaddlight
      @justaddlight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maximalsakerhet7930 Not a fan tbh. I try not to involve the hair or neck. Plus fragrance is essentially an oil that helps other hydrophobics cling during the day, necessitating a thorough daily cleansing. Not the easiest area to reach...and daily hair washing can be pretty rough on the scalp and follicles.

    • @maximalsakerhet7930
      @maximalsakerhet7930 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justaddlight Personally I spray on my neck and behind my ears as well and haven't had any issues. My hair doesn't really get hit that much because I have a buzz cut.

    • @RobertLaTuso
      @RobertLaTuso ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justaddlightWhen spraying on the Clavicle area, will you still be able to smell the fragrance from under your clothing (crew neck) or do you need to wear open collared shirts? What spray distance do you use when applying fragrances?

    • @justaddlight
      @justaddlight ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobertLaTuso Spray distance is about 3 inches for every fragrance. I almost always double-tap too. That means I spray twice in the same spot before moving on. That kind of application definitely allows me to smell the fragrance when applied on the clavicle area under clothing, except when wearing heavy winter attire, thick collared sweaters or turtlenecks. A better solution in that case would be to spray the back of the neck right at the hairline (essentially the bottom of the hair), the top of the forearms, or on the top of the wrist where a wristwatch would be. Thus far, barring a few fleeting citrus fragrances, I've found that most perfumes have sufficient projection to penetrate almost any garment at the sleeves and make it to my nose for a good couple of hours. If I get any on the inside of the sleeve (while it's still wet), I'll get gentle wafts for days. Especially while working at my computer. Hope that helps!

    Do you still recommend putting perfume on first and then lotion once it drys like in your previous video on this topic? I am a little confused as you say to not rub the fragrance as it will bruise it. But if you put the fragrance on and then put lotion on after, you would be bruising it then no?

  • @sergemunitz1153
    @sergemunitz1153 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Roger, it's good to listen to somebody who actually knows the subject they are talking about, rare thing nowadays! :) I would only add that you are basing your guidance here on your own scents that are very high in natural oils: a lot of modern creations have higher % synthetic or isolates added that change the intensity of smell based on %. So it is possible that one EDT will smell longer and stronger than one of your parfums. But then again, who says longer and stronger is better?

    This should be 1 of the first videos watched by anyone with a fragrance passion. I learned so much. I wasn’t aware that spraying under the chin and neck area was bad because the alcohol ages thing’s unnaturally. Really a lot of this is common sense when I heard it I was like oh duhhh. Roja is so beautifully well spoken thank you for taking some of your time to educate us and provide some useful tips. Going to be spraying my clavicles rather than my Adam’s apple going forward 👍

    Hello Roja, thank you for the video. I would say that one reason why people stop smelling after a few fragrances is not only the alcohol but also other aspects play a role. In a shop you typically have a lot of fragrance in the air which blend together and it is hard to distinguish and get the „information“ you want. Another aspect is our brain which is very good at filtering. If you keep smelling the same stuff for a prolonged period our brain will stop processing it as highly as before because a new scent will either mean „danger“ or „something beautiful“ whereas an old scent is already known. (Sorry, this is just me revealing my scientific side 😂)
    My scent of today is „Roja - Elyssium Parfum Cologne“. Love the scent although I never got into buying a full bottle. 100ML kind of scares me off 😅

    When spraying on the Clavicle area, will you still be able to smell the fragrance from under your clothing (crew neck) or do you need to wear open collared shirts? What spray distance do you use when applying fragrances?

    My favorite way to enjoy fragrances is to get close with the bottle and spray a puddle of half sprays on the back of my hand, and immediately bring it up to nose. None of this shaking it or getting the best part to evaporate before smelling it.

    Another one who thinks the wrist is a good place to spray a fragrance… it’s not, because we work in offices with computers, we wash our hands, we write.
    The wrist is one of the - shall we say - uninspired places to apply the fragrance.

    I have never understood the coffee bean thing either 🤷‍♂️ coffee is one of the most complex aromas there is, so why people think putting that under their nose will cleanse thier palate is beyond me 🤔 I wonder where that started.

      because when we drink it, it stimulates us - so that got carried into the act of smelling. Makes sense where it came from, but a total placebo! Rx

    Do scents considered top notes have notes themselves? So for example some kind of citrus being natural would it start if one way and then settle down to a different middle and base ? Thanks
