I wanted to go into cosmetic chemistry, and the first 3 min made me even more interested in formulating perfumes
Im 59 and when I was 19 I was into aromatics elixir it's very strong so I used to use a body lotion without perfume and spray the perfume onto the body lotion and apply the body lotion after a bath ,I used to get so many complements and that was just wearing it mixed with body lotion, it would last all night and my clothes would smell of it even when laundered I found it the best way to wear it for longevity, your video is great I've learned more thank you
Aromatics Elixir is so classy and sophisticated. I think of it as a Boss Lady fragrance and it's so amazing especially in the Winter season. Rich and powerful smelling ❤❤❤.
@Lizzymint Ahhh yes! Me too! I’ve been applying my perfumes.. esp the strong, beast mode ones - in the same manner. Spray it directly into my body cream/lotion filled hand, working it together in my hands then applying it all over. I’ve been doing this method for decades. Nice to know, we’re like-minded 😉 I’m 57 and was gifted aromatics elixir by my Aunt when I was 22, it was her signature scent. When I was 13, I started wearing dabs of my large sample bottle, “Macassar” men’s fragrance. For being such a young girl, I had a love affair with all perfumes, and some were very mature and eclectic ones at that.. esp for a “child!” lol , As a teen I wore Rive Gauche, No. 19, Cristalle, Opium, Ma Griffe, Quel Que Fleur, Jardins de Bagatelle, etc My tastes and collection are all over the board - for every day, time, season and mood! Hope you’re having a beautiful Sunday ✨🤍🌺
Thank you, I’ve been wanting a 101 video! I’d next love to learn about terms like aldehydic, lactonic, anosmic, animalic, chypre, fougere, etc. that would be amazing. Thanks for sharing your tips and knowledge!
my ex gf was anosmic, she couldn't smell anything and as far as I know it was congenital, she never complained about it. I was absolutely horrified she could eat plain pasta and be perfectly satisfied 😅
Ive described myself my whole life as having "smell colorblindness". Because i cannot recognise smells for the life of me. I can tell theyre there, but i cant tell what they are. Theres nothing wrong with my nose... i feel like im just incapable to sort smells because i was never taught how to sort them. Kinda like how old texts describe the color of the sea as wine red? If you never learn orange exists, youre gonna call it yellow you know. Channels like you help me discover a world of self expression i never knew existed. Thank you 🙏
My guess is that this is a long term memory problem (w only scents). Cause the way ur brain recognizes smells is through memory, if you’re unable to remember you won’t be able to tell
@@kyonaharris8239 interesting. Because I have the same "smell blindness" and I was wondering if it has something to do with it connecting smells to something and with kind of mindfulness/awareness. I have the same problem with food. I can tell you if I like it or not, but I can't tell you if it's cherry or strawberry in the yogurt e.g. I was always told to just eat, don't question and just to do and just to follow what someone said. Now as a grownup I slowly start to explore and find out...also about fragrances 😊
Samee!! I can also never tell the different scents between flowers 😭😭 My mom will be like oh it smells like magnolia here and id just think what even is that, they all smell the same 🥲
You know you have to smell notes SEPERATELY first before you know to distinguish them out of a specific other substances/notes/scents because if you don’t even know what aldehyde smells like how would you know Chanel makes aldehydeic notes perfumes that how they are special 😂
This is EXACTLY the video I’ve been looking for. Fragrance are one of my greatest passions and understanding the science behind the scents is SO key!! Thank you!!
Love how you spoke about "walk-through" fragrances like Mugler. Only the SAs really know this stuff and people who think Angel is unwearable should try the walk-through. Omg, you get such a heavenly experience that way - all of the deliciousness and none of the harsh patchouli overdose. Can't wait to try your other tips and especially your recommended lotions, Emma, thank you!
Hey! I just wanted to tell you that English is not my first language and I generally find it difficult to comprehend native speakers without the help of subtitles. However, I find it really easy to understand and intriguing when you speak!
Spray and walk-through technic is so helpful with a strong fragrance! I had a super strong fragrance that I liked but felt like I was choking every time I wore it. it was only when I used the walk-through method that it was more suitable for me and still lasted long!
Idea. Maybe say fragrance or add clogne to the description or title when you can. Some men definitely passed this video immediately thinking it's something for girls only. Not realizing perfume and calogne are the same thing so these tips help.
The most important thing to know is that you should be considerate of other people. Just because you like a perfume doesn't mean that everyone wants to smell it from 10 miles away. People have allergies, scent triggered migraines, etc. You don't need to spray half the bottle on yourself.
How much I dislike people like you...BUZkillers on whatever video...be mindful of what flower you buy as the others might not like it..who asked your opinion on how to select perfumes based on environment?? Can you just be quiet??
Solid perfume would definitely be a lifesaver for me. I love the L’occitane Neroli & Orchidee perfume but it’s an eau de toilette and quite weak. I mix it with a body cream but it still doesn’t last as long as I’d like it. Having a better base for it to work with would literally be amazing. This is coming from someone who doesn’t like deep and overpowering scents btw!
Can you please explain the science behind what specifically causes the same fragrance to smell different on different people? Is it that their olfactory senses are different? Skin pheromone chemistry differences?
I didnt know that about Mugler, always get a lot of compliments when wearing Angel or Alien. ✨️Angel✨️ is my favourite! I just spray it straight onto my wrists and neck.
Contrary to your recommendation (although you're correct), I sometimes spray on the front of my neck or the front of my upper body / décolleté - why? If I want to increase the enjoyment / perception of a scent for myself, but at the same time tone down how much people in my surrounding notice the fragrance, I find it convenient to do it this way. But I have to admit, doing this with something like Cuir Beluga would send me on the shortest route to a shower.

It’s really good to know how Mugler fragrances are supposed to be sprayed! I struggled with Angel because it was so strong that I found it almost pungent (although it’s still very fascinating, that’s why I kept it and still sniff it once in a while)
Yes. Boiling point for water is 100C, so we have to heat water to that point for the water to evaporate. For many aromachemicals, your body heat is warm enough to cause the oils to evaporate.
That was a great informative video and I almost didn’t watch it! I thought it was just going to be the typical longevity video - and you did cover that, but so much more. Thank you.
i'm commenting this a few times cuz i want you to see it... do a candle review video!! especially fragrance brands that have released candles, or just ones with interesting, nuanced, complex scents etc, and at different, esp affordable price points! pleasee!
I'd love to know more about your favourite perfume books. I've heard lots about but not read Luca Turin or the Nez periodicals; Neil Chapman's In Search Of Your Signature Scent really helped me get to grips with the different notes.
I loved this video. It was very informative and makes a lot of sense. Would you do a video on perfumes that you feel would fit into these different categories. Strong projection Vs weak or moderate? Strong vs weak vs moderate sillage etc ?
Oh your video is super cute and helpful ❤❤❤ I'll be very grateful for the recommendation of strong coffee ☕️ perfume, but not with vanilla base. I have Akro Awake, but it still very sweet 😅 tysm
Thanks, that's really informative and all-in-one-place :) I would like to know if applying on wrists change if I wear a watch? I guess that could iritate my skin underneath or cause more heat under the strap/bracelet, which changes how perfumes evaporate?
Hi Emma, I have heard about Eccentric Molecules - M01 or M02, use one of these as a base to improve longevity of the perfume. Wanted to ask your opinion about that ?
I use Molecule O1 with lighter fresher perfumes. Amazon has some cheaper alternatives of ISO E Super that works great. Oak City Beard Company has an extrait to parfum of ISO E Suoer for $27.
I love love powdery and top note heavy perfumes and it sucks that its chemically impossible for them to last long😂 But ill be sure to try your tricks for longevity👍

That was a great informative video and I almost didn’t watch it! I thought it was just going to be the typical longevity video - and you did cover that, but so much more. Thank you.
i can't believe i finally found someone who doesn't overspray
Lots of great fragrance knowledge distilled into one video! Looking forward to more
Very informative!☺️ loved listening to you 🫶🏼
Glad you enjoyed!
Nice overview! Straight to the point
Thank youu ❤ Perfect timing for me!
So glad!
This was amazing I love your videos!
i'm commenting this a few times cuz i want you to see it... do a candle review video!! especially fragrance brands that have released candles, or just ones with interesting, nuanced, complex scents etc, and at different, esp affordable price points! pleasee!
I'd love to know more about your favourite perfume books. I've heard lots about but not read Luca Turin or the Nez periodicals; Neil Chapman's In Search Of Your Signature Scent really helped me get to grips with the different notes.
Amazing 🎉glad I stumbled across your page ! Love your videos & contents ❤🙌🏽👍🏽
Thank you that was so interesting !
I loved this video. It was very informative and makes a lot of sense. Would you do a video on perfumes that you feel would fit into these different categories. Strong projection Vs weak or moderate? Strong vs weak vs moderate sillage etc ?
Tihota Indult!❤❤❤ I’ve been wanting to try that forever! 💔
beautiful ❤️ makes me feel at home watching the video
Can you please tell....the most seductive and projective perfume for womens??
Oh your video is super cute and helpful ❤❤❤ I'll be very grateful for the recommendation of strong coffee ☕️ perfume, but not with vanilla base. I have Akro Awake, but it still very sweet 😅 tysm
Thanks, that's really informative and all-in-one-place :)
I would like to know if applying on wrists change if I wear a watch? I guess that could iritate my skin underneath or cause more heat under the strap/bracelet, which changes how perfumes evaporate?
This was so helpful!
I love love powdery and top note heavy perfumes and it sucks that its chemically impossible for them to last long😂
But ill be sure to try your tricks for longevity👍
