- Ill take you on a tour of a truck that many may just overlook. The 2023/ 2024 Ford F-150 STX 4x4 with the Coyote V8. Sometimes the best option is the simplest option. The F-150 STX package is a great package, packing plenty of goodies...but what about the Coyote V8.. The good old American rumble of this truck, just may make you smile.
I spent a two weeks so far in this truck and I'm pleasently suprised how nice the STX is and really how good the MPG's are in the Coyote. For those that just want a nice truck, without a bunch of uneccisary crap, the STX is the perfect blend. Add in some good old American V8 Rumble and this truck is sure to please.

5.0 ten speed automatic XLT so far driving great also has the 302 high package all the options I need, I’m keeping it!

Pretty honest review, thanks, I personally had a 21 xlt powerboost, it had electric motor problems, a 23 KR powerboost that I couldnt get decent fuel mileage out of, and the engine drone at 70 mph drove me nuts. I also had a 23 maverick hybrid that was an amazing vehicle. Ford did a good job on that. Now went back to silverado with the 6.2. So far it is a blast to drive, paddle shifters 3 note exhaust. Probably not as quick as the PB. If ford ever gets the PB working as it should, that will be the one to get.
You can remove the muffler and put a straight pipe and they really sound good not to loud and no drone but wake up and let you know when you give it the beans

Maybe the big truck should be "Stupor Duty".
They went to a coating instead of steel cylinder sleeves in 2019…. So not a fan as oil consumption issues have occured
Until Ford can prove they have fixed the 10 speeds, I'll pass. Got rid of my '22 STX because of the 10 speed.

I had a 2018 I got rid of mine never seen a transmission that shifted so poorly....I switched brands now drive something with a very smooth shifting transmission

Granted these are newer models, but my buddy got Ford to buy back his 19 f150 with the 5.0 and 10 speed. It would slam shift at highway speeds. No reprogramming helped and then ford was going to have the dealer “rebuild” the trans. Nope. It took months, but he got out of it and went to an f250 with the 6.2. I have a 19 f250 with the similar setup. No issues on either.
Ford must have changed something I had a 2018 with 5.0 and the 10 speed shifted like shit
Over the years they will change and tweak programming to smooth out things. The ten in my SD is so busy, I'm not sure what it's doing.
I wonder if you aware that JD Power recommended this 2023 NOT to buy?
I've seen them, including consumer reports saying not to buy the powerboost also. I personally haven't had any problems with any of my f150s. On the other hand all my newer SD ford's after 13 have had issues.
