    1-take a logo
2- draw a blue square or a blue circle
3- paste the logo but make it white
4- write something on the right
    5- enjoy your coffee

I don't agree with your serif choice for the first logo. You can go serif, but make sure it's a modern serif. The one you chose looks colonial.

I agree with this. Apart from the cut off "I" the font choice for the original type was modern as it was current. The serif font that he chose to make his re-design just doesn't work with the modern logo design.

Most of buyers out there don't care about simplistic designs as it's common misconception that simple looking means less work and it's not worth the money they pay.
Critics are nice, but keep in mind that these sites are driven by market demand rather then creators style.
And you are comparing completely two different markets where buyer requirements are kind of opposite. World is too big in this case! Cheers!

    • @hasher22
      @hasher22 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@lukasdreher4843, I believe Merdy is stating that design / art is subjective and you just proven with "wouldn't always change something", but yet you disagree? Quite contradicting. Everyone has different tastes in design and changing something doesn't mean better, its just another way of design.

    • @benjaminmiddaugh2729
      @benjaminmiddaugh2729 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@hasher22 One can disagree with part or all of a statement. I believe that Lukas was disagreeing with the statement that there are "always" flaws seen in logos that other people have designed. While Merdy might have had that in mind, there are some objective principles that can be used to create logos that aren't bad. Reducing the concept of "flaws" to "something one's taste disagrees with" does a disservice to the principles of design. There's a middle ground that can respect both.

This is why designers should NOT freelance on Fiverr...Even if a designer does everything requested in the correct manner (Which most of them won't - not for that cheap!), the buyer disputes the agreed upon price the minute they get the finished work...Fiverr then refunds the buyer's money (After keeping its percentage of the deal, of course!), blocks the seller's account, and the client walks away with everything - free of charge! Most of the clients that deal with Fiverr know this and take advantage of it!

The design was just a design. It had no connection with the business it represented. The person who created it was not a “professional” or gifted designer. Instead, he or she was just a clog thrown into a design mill. The topic of “design mill” needs to be discussed. IMHO, anyone can produce something of this quality with any brand of today’s software. And frankly, people viewing logos like this wouldn’t know the difference. The question is “does this matter?”

and no customers EVER buy because they love the logo - unless they are idiots. They buy because they like the product or service. Logos are one of the most overrated aspects in marketing. Look at all of the super simple logos that are famous because the products are good.

      Amazon
      Ford

I thought that the 2nd design came out on top. Personally I don't see an issue with using an arrow in the design, it helps drive home the word 'certified' -- it's on point, 100%, on target, etc. Making the arrow black was the downfall imo, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Maybe he could've changed the colours up a bit, or even designed it in a way that *implies* the existence of an arrow

This was very interesting to see Sir Tom. If the designer did a few more tweaks on the logos, I think the designer would have found some better logo designs or come close to what you were looking for. Thanks for sharing. As always have a great day.

The bars on the icon of the first logo (your revision included) are too thick and would affect the negative space between them when scaled down.

One thing that doesn't seem right to me is that the three bars are descending. Stacked bars like that are used for profit charts - really want those ascending instead.

Funny part of this is that if you offer this service on fiverr on all these critiques, you are likely rake up negative reviews. Most times, sellers designs mirrors recent design trends, and buyer's acceptable deliveries. Most of the buyers don't appreciate simple designs.

By the way, in my case, I had when I asked a client of the company what is the logo, the usual question he didn't know was to answer me. I gave him an answer. the logo is the face of the company,
after that, he understood the difference between the 100$ and 2000 $ logos.

According to the way I tattle design briefs.
    1st Design Logo
That was a very good logo design what I love is the composition off a letter C cutout with the 3 bars strokes of which I think represent the internet signal since this is a Domain Broker.
What I didn't like was a disjoint type of the word Certificate but despite off everything a designs did a good job.
    2nd Design Logo
That was a very good simple & strong memorable logo design what I love is a double cutout of letters C with a black stroke.
I love the color match of the Cs cutouts.
    What I did not like...
The direction of the arrow, I think would look good if it points outside of Cs cutouts and the text color of the word domain I think would be looking strong, also hold a logo color harmony if was rich black.
Other than everything the designer did a exceptional good work.
    3rd Design Logo
I don't think this logo buy any choices would be a suitable brand identity for this type of business, the logo design is out from the scope of telecommunication business.
What I really don't like is the square border design of a logo and the 3 bars, its just make its feel as if is it for the college or university that offers study certificates.
    That was my review.
However I would still love to be corrected if some of the things I over took them.

Great video, very interesting how you pull each logo apart. I think people don't get how difficult it is to design a good logo, they can be so personal to the person.
It would be good to see a follow up video to this after you have given the designer your feedback and a little more direction.
My main problem with them is none of the design symbols conjure up 'Certified' without the word Certified in it (if you understand me).

I agree, the only logo that works well with an arrow are the FedEx and Amazon logos but their incorporation is subtle which is why it works.

Amazon's arrow is subtle? I'll give you FedEx, but Amazon? I'll agree that Amazon's arrow is very well handled with their different marketing strategies like making the boxes smile, but it's really fucking far away from subtle.
