Moore's source for the hip speechifying had to be Kurtzman's "Bop Jokes" in early Mad. I doubt beatniks ever talked like that, even in Roger Corman movies. However "I don't pin no agony, but dig that Ecstasy" was something I used to hear at raves in the 90's.
It's too bad that this series' production had so much executive and interpersonal drama, because every one of these comics looks like they had such a blast making it.
Every one of these episodes makes me want to go and search out these books. Not just this 1963 series, but any Cartoonist Kayfabe video. It's really great stuff!
This has been awesome guys. Thank you so much for this trip down memory lane. Watching these videos has been like a video version of an issue of Alter Ego. Has Steve Bissette or Rick Veitch ever talked about what the story of the annual is going to be? Also, I know there was a comic published by Image in the early 2000's called Big Bang Comics that was a sort of homage to golden age books and it had an issue where it crossed over with some of the 1963 characters. Anyone know how that came about?
If it's the Big Bang Comic character like Ultiman and Knight Watchmen then they were what brought me here. It took me a while to discover they were actual comics as I'd only read the collections, and assumed all the talk of other stuff was in universe jokes. Would love to discover any crossover as just bought the first 3 issues of 1963 on ebay as well.
That shimmering zone is too inventive to be just called Atlas/Marvel pastiche. Ground zero as this mysterious other world where even the gravity is different? Alan Moore is so creative when it comes to this stuff
I've been loving the trip through 1963. Thank you for spotlighting this fantastic series.
Ahh.. now we wait for Alan Moore's Supreme
What a neat comic.

13:27 Love those fake adverts. So funny! So well done.
My favorite issue! I love N-man
I remember reading Jim Valentino back during his Normalman days, then not hearing much more - I guess he was super-busy on the publishing side.
I sure hope Bisette considers reviving Tales of the Uncanny/Naut Comics after the success of these videos. These comics mean alot to me.
Once Red Room is out on Previews, I will order it for sure!!!!!
Aww man, I preordered that sh*t the second I could! Haven’t you checked it out on Ed’s Patreon?!? Its so awesome!
This book book was the Sh**! When it came out at the comic book store in the 90s !
Hulk had 6 issues and landed in Tales to Astonish ;-)

I found this comic in a 50 cent bin last summer. I ended up tracking down all the other issues on the internet for not really that much more.
N-Man is a kirbytastic design! Love it!
I agree!
“N-Man” reminds me of “Hellboy”
You doing great work guys. Keep it up!
Can't wait for physical copy of red room, looking at the patreon pages is dope but doesnt beat the page turning experience!
