  • On Monday, 12 July, a PROTEST in DURBAN turned into a LOOTING spree for RIOTERS. Shops got cleaned out, some got set on fire, factories got burnt down and our beautiful province suffered serious damage, our country will suffer awful long term effects.
Follow our vlog as we venture out to see the after effects of all the destruction. We start at the warehouse next to Makro in Cornubia, then we drive through Queen Nandi and Riverhorse Valley. We also check out Springfield Park and Durban Beachfront. We end up in Tongaat.
Unfortunately this isn't our normal upbeat vlog, bad things happen and we want to update you with what's going on in our city. We didn't get to see all the destruction in the province and we know that some areas were really badly hit and totally cleaned out.
We felt the need to find something positive to end our video with and so we went out to a local community to do our bit for Mandela Day. It's amazing how communities have come together through all of this and we really hope that our country will come out stronger.

The best thing you can do is stop underplaying the reality of the situation, I'm not saying you are to be an extremist but instead be real about the situation and not allow the folks who look to you to have a false sense of security then not be prepared for what's to come in SA. Just look at the steady decline of the country and the steady decay of relations between SA peoples and that should direct you.
Do all the good you can in all the ways you can as long as you can, but don't let "If I only knew I would've done something different. " be your last words.
God Bless and continue to guide you.

I have fond memories there, and many of my friends still live in the city. I have relatives in the area still and couldn't believe what they were telling us on the App. My father used to work at Coronation Brick and Tile, many decades ago, before it became Corobrick. And this is not the first time rioting and looting occurred their. I recall twice he was sent home from work because of unrest in the area. And I recall Indians being specifically targeted back then as well. However it was nothing like on this scale. So sad to see.

The only way this turns into a positive is if the underlying issues of corruption and lack of accountability is addressed.

We are already seen the narrative switch to finding those who defended themselves rather than really addressing the key issues
