I have this Artist 10. And comparing it with all the screenless stuff I've used, it's a good tablet and worth the extra price. The size does impose some limits that make it not ideal for fine inking, but as a tool for fullscreen sketching and painting it's basically the equivalent of A5 sketchbooks, which I think are just great. I found that I want to use traditional for inking anyway, so my process has gradually become "plan and rough out the illustration digitally, transfer it to paper, finish in ink, scan, color digitally".
I got this tablet in blue for my birthday and it's been two months and I love it. As my first drawing tablet, it's nice, wasn't too expensive, the size is nice for my workspace, I would recommend this to beginner. Its a good purchase.
I remember when they stopped making the Artist 10 in 2018 in favor of the Artist 12. The demand for cheaper tablets will always exist, so we see a triumphant return (though I'd just save for a galaxy tab s6 lite from 2019. You can find them open box for under 250)
yea! but I guess if you already have a nice and portable PC the artist 10 is a cheap way to get a nice enough portable drawing screen with the versatility of Windows, i'd look for an Android tablet or an ipad only after I had that drawing screen or if I didn't need to draw on a windows at all, but of course that priority changes with the creative process of each artist, but I've been admiring the tab S6 from afar for a while now, actually I'm pretty interested in some kind of galaxy book 360 since it's as portable as a 2 in 1 can be with all the functionalities I need for drawing and cheaper than the surface book dream lol
The other thing to point out with rather going for the Tab S6 lite in this scenario is that you can still use it with your computer as a pen display as well. So with some extra savings, you can have the best of both worlds with standalone portability and desktop drawing on a screen of roughtly the same size.
I ended up replacing my not so gracefully aging Wacom Cintiq 13HD with this EXACT same tablet and I honestly with the XP Pen Artist 10 existed years ago. The performance of this new little tablet works just as good as a tablet from Wacom that cost quadruple more a few years back. Now the tablet is pretty dang small... That might bother some folks, me? Not so much, my hands are pretty small so the screen's size isn't too bad. Another good thing to mention about the screen is that the satin surface is a screem protector that can be replaced. As far as I know Wacom does not sell screen protectors. As for the tablet's pen? I do wish it was just a tad thicker, I am grateful that the stylus doesn't have one of those useless eraser buttons. Oh, I should mention that XP Pen as offers felt nibs. I HIGHLY recommend that EVERYONE should use them, they'll extend the life of your screen a hundred times over. I used them for years with my Wacom tablet. Hmm... That's about all that I can really think of. I totally agree that the tablet should have come with thw type-c cable, along with a wall outlet power brick... But! Other than that and the tablet's obvious size I can't really find any downsides for this little tablet, especially for the price.

In my honest opinion, the original Artist 12 that was mentioned in the video is a better tablet at the same price. The drawing performance is better and the pen has an eraser. All that's missing is a laminated screen

A large screen always a big plus, besides we have great 10" android tabs likes S6 lite which requires no PC connection and gives you a better drawing experience

I think you can start with just some sketching pencils and a sketchbook and learn that way first. Figure out if you even like it before investing in a tablet. But also! A sketchpad and pencil is more portable (don't need to be connected to anything). So you can literally take it anywhere and start sketching random things you see. That's how I learned to draw! I have an iPad now and love using procreate because it's just as portable as a sketchpad and pencil. That is all I use and I really love it. When I first started drawing in middle school and high school I never even knew digital mediums were an option lol. But I am glad I learned the way I did, because those skills you learn with physical mediums can be translated to the digital realm too. It just takes a little bit to get use to, because with digital work you cannot physically feel the texture or thickness etc of what you are working with. SO with brushes, It took me a little while to learn which brush would give me my desired effect but once you get into a routine you get use to it!
Start out with actual pencil and paper. Even if you go pro it's still the best drawing experience you'll have. All these creative displays are literally trying to mimic the real pen and paper experience as much as they can. They might not admit it, but most artists' primary reason for going digital is only because of the undo button no cap
I agree with the comments above, if you are just starting to draw, try sketching with pencils. Then when you acquire basic drawing skills and maybe learn some fundamentals, you could try give a digital drawing a shot (This would be the safe way). Regarding the screen size, I would suggest getting at least 12 inches pen display for a beginner. Yes, you could draw with this 10 inch display, but the size might become a problem in the future, in case you decide to learn further, the small screen could be really uncomfortable in the drawing programs.
Start with basic pencil and paper. Once you know how to draw then maybe you can move to digital. Otherwise, you need to learn to draw and learn how to use drawing software simultaneously, which will make your learning a bit challenging. From my experience, when i started drawing on iPad, my drawing was bad. It took me months to get use to it. Or maybe it just me, im not a fast learner.

Good afternoon, I would like to ask you for advice. I am now choosing a surface pro for myself and I can’t decide what would be better for me as an illustrator. Is my budget enough for either surface pro 7 (i7 16gb+ surface pen 1) or surface pro 8 (i5 8gb+ surface pen 2) so that in your opinion it is more relevant and comfortable for drawing? And the second question. I did not find detailed information on the Internet. How comfortable is the work on surface pro 7 + surface pen 2, and is it possible?
Don't have any, but I think the Pro 8 is better, the pen is much better and, well, the pen is better. It might be less powerful, but I think the 7+ wasn't made compatible with the Surface Slim Pen, so it won't take advantage of it.

The Artist 10 2nd can connect to androids. They do have a list on XpPen of compatible phones. If you get one plese be advised: I find it can be finicky but take the red usb and plug it into an wall adapter. Then plug in the little L shape usb-c. i wish my xp pen 13 pro could use a type c to type c connection and also had an eraser im surpeised they dont bother with that anymore or atleast give the option as an upgrade
No, you can’t. The USB-C cable has built-in Data, Power and Video. You need to connect the HDMI plug to its respective port. If you have all Type-As, it’s best if you use the 3-in-1 cable
It does work on Linux so in theory yes if you are down to tinker a bit. I've been trying to get this to work on the Steam Deck for a future video and that Linux.

What’s the recommended bare minimum options of both screen tablets and no display? aka best value option. Been having the itch to get into digital drawing, but don’t know where to start.
I really like my huion hs611. Good middle of the road size and plenty of programmable shortcut buttons. I like the wheel thing too for zooming in and out and rotating my canvas. $60-80 depending on the sale
Hard to say. Huion is the best cheap option right now, because xp-pen makes wobbly lines. You can choose the 13 inch version for really cheap, but if you are a traditional artist who wants to go digital, I would recommend the 16 inch one. 13 inch is managable, pretty good, but the 16 inch is the sweet spot between size and price.
@@InTwilight Only their newer stuff has the wobble that Brad mentioned in this video as well. You can decide for yourself. I only like to use a very light stabilizer, but if you are fine with a little stronger, then it's okay. Or if you do vector art mainly it's perfectly fine. Also, their customer support is said to be a little better than Huion's.
For screenless, most people started with small ones (6.0 x 3.7 inch) like the Intuos Small or Huion HS64 but imo I highly recommend paying a bit more for a medium size (usually 10 x 6.25 inch) like the Huion HS610 or H610X (among many others, Huion makes a LOT under the "medium" size) since those cause less strain for your wrist + is much more ergonomic, plus it's much more natural as its the closest size to an A4 paper.
Hi, love the video! im planning to buy one in a few days, but i gotta make sure if the usb-c cable is only applicable on thunderbolt usb-c port ,, or just any regular usb-c port will do? As i've seen their description on thier official website that it only supports Thunderbolt usb-c port (lightning symbol next to or below the usb-C port ) can anyone please help me confirm??
I think its kind of a game of luck... because I don't have that wobbliness with my pen. I got the artist 16 2nd gen though... But the pen should technically be mostly the same...
well the other cable is multiple connectors on it including usb a and normal hdmi. if you only have Displayport or some other display out you can use a converter.

8:11 why don't u try krita, clip studio or medibang?
i wish my xp pen 13 pro could use a type c to type c connection and also had an eraser im surpeised they dont bother with that anymore or atleast give the option as an upgrade
Please review a web painting tool called "Light Brush". It's very capable. Would appreciate you taking a look at it. thanks.
Can I use the xppen in adobe premiere for video editing
what system do you use on the tablet?
Does graphics tablet stylus Lag feel same as samsung spen?
Have xp pen deco lw, good so far.
Ipad or Artist 10 (2nd Gen
Could anybody say if this works successfully with ChromeOS?
How do you get to the drawing part?
Hey Brad! Quick question : My laptop only has USB-A ports, so can I use a USB-A to USB-C adapter to use the cable mentioned at 4:03 ?
No, you can’t. The USB-C cable has built-in Data, Power and Video. You need to connect the HDMI plug to its respective port. If you have all Type-As, it’s best if you use the 3-in-1 cable
@@JackBandicootsBunker Ok. Thanks for the answer :)
i actually like no display tablets more, i feel like i draw better on em
Can I ask? I'm a complete noob, and I need a graphic tablet. I'd like to get something that costs less than 70$. Any recommendations?
@@InTwilight Brad had already made a vid about graphic tablets for starters, here's the link bro: th-cam.com/video/67N24t9w66o/w-d-xo.html
@@InTwilight huion hs16 is the one I use and it's on sale for less than 70
@@InTwilight XP-PEN Deco 01 V2
Agree
If it works on Windows, Mac, and Android then might it work on a Raspberry Pi? Pi computers use a Linux OS which is akin to both Mac and Android.
It does work on Linux so in theory yes if you are down to tinker a bit. I've been trying to get this to work on the Steam Deck for a future video and that Linux.
thinking the same thing, if it's work, well, there would be pc on the go with drawing display. that would be soooo great!
@@mukagedek4010 well it might not be pc on the go but hook it up to android... power it with 16000 mah powerbank and you have your drawing station for on the go.
thats what im doing with kamvas 13
Can a left handed artist like me use this
Of Course! It Will Be Easy For Sure. Trust Me.
have you tried asus z13?
Can it plug up to android tablet
I wish there was a display tablet without a power socket, so this is the only option.
@@ajtatosmano2 are XP pen really that bad? I read many positive reviews but now I'm doubtful
Review the surface pro 9 review please
I got one for $135
Look mom! Im on the TV!
I think it would be freat for people who are starting out in how to draw and
can someone recomment me a vector app on android?
If it's to go below 13 inches ... just get a simpler model without screen
You can zoom with Krita. (; Shalom.
can it connect to phones ?
android who has desktopmode
I think its kind of a game of luck... because I don't have that wobbliness with my pen. I got the artist 16 2nd gen though... But the pen should technically be mostly the same...
I believe they are ok and I might be wrong but do you remember one of your drawings that was like a werewolf.....🤔?
I'm just saying 😅.
What if you don't have an hdmi or USB type c? Can't use it? Or is,there some type,of hdmi converter connectio. Or somehting?
well the other cable is multiple connectors on it including usb a and normal hdmi. if you only have Displayport or some other display out you can use a converter.
@@SimonBauer7 thanks. Yeah I only have display port. I will check, ojt the converter and see if that will work. Thanks for he suggestion
The whole time I thought the hot keys was a hole 💀
Ha that's not the smallest pen display, this is the smallest pen display "Wacom STU-540 5" Signature Pad". (I don't know if you can actually draw on it)
it cant connect to show photoshop on it so thats not good comparison
It's still not meant for left handed artists
most tablets allow for rotations if you find the setup
Hi
kool
Another day, another xp-pen
- think I'd rather hook up an s8-
1:32 Wait. It SUPPORTS Android ?!
Oh yea !
Ah yes the USB C connector, I got one only to realize that you need thunderbolt or USB 4 in specific to use it 😮💨
or if you use a android phone capable of desktop mode
