True, but it is a little easier when you have access to facilities like he is always in. I had that kind of luxury as well up until my friend who owned a shop with a couple lifts retired...Now, working on the car in the driveway is not quite as easy and can get depressing when things don't go right! 😉

Elliott, you NEVER say that a car is fully mechanically back together before first start! Such a curse is known to make random parts inexplicably disappear or become unhooked! But the oily mess aside, it's so awesome to see this car back working and with no error lights to boot (I don't count the low coolant light)! That must be a great feeling for you. Thanks for the video as always, and have a wonderful weekend!

@@ElliottAlvis I would probably be more adventurous with access to a lift! I changed out some transmission bushings on my STI on ramps over a ditch and it was a pain in the ass and I also encountered an issue where I just could not get a bolt in so I had to take it to a mechanic just for that one. Damn bolt... Still have no idea what secret he used to get that sucker lined up and started.

I know the 4t4 like the back of my hand, one thing you NEED to be careful of is the plastic nipple on the cbv for the turbo, very fragile and I broke mine putting the turbo in and needed to get an aftermarket one. Also you need to cover the top of the turbo where the charge pipe connects with paper towel. If any bolt, nut, or anything gets down there you’ll need to re pull the turbo and fish it out which has happened to me before. But great job and Amazing platform choice!!!

Last time I did something similar (replacing the manifold gaskets) I actually ended up removing the radiator fan, side engine mount, and loosen the back and front mounts, then jacked the engine up and slid forward a little.
This gave about 15 cm extra clearance at the back that utterly revolutionised the job.
Also, if you have anything else to do like a timing belt or the front PCV and you have access to a hoist, pulling the engine out is pretty easy and makes those jobs fly. It seems like major overkill, but in terms of time and effort it can be worth it. I took that approach on an 850 I had that needed a timing belt, clutch, hoses, and new engine mounts. Bigtime saved my knuckles.
You are very lucky in one regard: left hand drive the brake booster is out the way. On RHD that I worked on it sits on the other side and blocks access to almost everything! 😑

Only thing I did different was turning the engine over without spark and fuel to build oil pressure before I hooked up my oil feed on the turbo. I changed the oil at the same time so wanted to pump any old oil out so I had fresh new oil going in the new turbo. Doing something like that would've led you to your missing bolt right away...but hey, hindsight is 20/20!

I noticed the lower lip of the front bumper isn't installed properly causing it to sag.
There are 3 'L' shaped plastic brackets molded into the lower radiator support, the rear lip of the bumper needs to be lifted into those 3 brackets, this stops it sagging.
Most people don't seem to notice these brackets, I didn't at first...but they're there. 🙂🇦🇺

rebuilt my turbo for $185 in parts, took a good 4 days to complete, that was 5 years ago, still good.
You're supposed to remove the angle gearbox and front pass side drive shaft, book time is 6 hours.

When getting a car revived, it is sometimes a good idea to let the throttle position sensor relearn closed. Also ford electronics in this Era, ford strategies employed because ford owned volvo 2001-on.
