Hey since I live in the USA and shipping is so expensive. Could you recommend another type of yarn I can use? I would like to buy the pattern and I’m sure it is just since in a email. I love this blanket and would very much like to try to make it. @OpheliaTalks
@@thiscraftyangie I have found that ordering from Ophelia Talks or Wool Warehouse often costs less than ordering the same yarn from a US supplier, even with international shipping, because the US suppliers charge more for the UK yarn as a base price.
This is a gorgeous take on a zigzag afghan! My grandmother would have loved this so much!!! I love the lightness but without holes that would grab my little toes! This is going on my future wip list! ❤😍🥰
You answered my prayers Anja! I have quite a stash of variegated yarn that I collected just because I loved the colors. I became frustrated though when I saw so many comments from crocheters (on other sites) saying they didn’t like to use variegated yarn because it was too busy. The Winter Solace is beautiful! Thank you Anja! ❤
I was thinking about it myself . I hope I can handle thin cotton . I will do a test first. I will want to make a blanket in the future. Good luck to you .
I so enjoy your tutorials, Anja! You are a great instructor and your projects are beautiful! I taught myself to crochet using TH-cam tutorials during the pandemic and your videos were so helpful. I so wish I could hold my hook and yarn the way you do - you've such a smooth movement and efficiency to your work that I so want to emulate but my hands and brain seem stuck on the knife hold. Thank you for sharing your skills with all of us!
Hi Barb, oh I'm so glad I was instrumental in getting you through the pandemic, thank you for subscribing too. It really doesn't matter how you hold your hook n yarn, as long as you're comfortable, there's no right or wrong way. Practice is the only way you're going to break the habit if you want to change Barb! Thank you, Anja x
I love this beautiful throw. Starting it with something from my yarn stash. Will be ordering the Aurora Yarn Pack tonight ^•,•^ 1000 blessings and hugs dearest Anya, Dirk and Layla
I’m within a week or so of finishing my Greenway, and this is going to be my next big task. I’ve got yarn in stash that will be perfect for it so I must resist the urge to buy more. Of course for my odd moments I’ll continue doing my small solid grannies that I’m making from my Ophelia Talks vintage colour pack. They will eventually end up as another rug.
@@OpheliaTalks They will all end up either at the refugee centre or other refugees I work with (and walk with). It’s not work, it’s a great privilege for me to be able to do this, at my age and with the complex medical conditions.
Beautiful ❤Beautiful ❤Beautiful all your creations are Beautiful but I really love this blanket! Thankyou for all the effort and time you and your husband put into this channel 😊
Loving this pattern. Nearly finished my third ball of yarn. Using yarn from stash - 6 balls of Papatya Batik, 100% acrylic, 100g, 360m, colour 554-28 which is a deep plum, dusky pink, through to white variegated mix. Looking great! Thank you Anja for designing it and for the simple tutorial. So looking forward to making the tassels and to having the finished article. Love & gratitude, Linda, UK 💕🧶

This is beautiful... i have Caron skinny cakes ( DK weight) do you think using this yarn it will work up nice or are color changes to abrupt ? Am I better off using a variegated ?
Anja’s blanket measures approximately 100cm wide with her starting chain so, using the multiple, perhaps try a starting chain of 134 which would give a of approximately 50cm wide, depending on your tension compared to Anja’s. I’d suggest doing the first three rows in your chosen multiple chain then measuring to ensure it is the width you require before either continuing or trying another starting chain multiple. Hope this helps!
Trying to think what yarn I’ve got to start this because its beautiful and I need it in my life! If I was to use an Aran weight yarn how many stitches do you think I should chain? (Obviously the multiple would be the same) 🧶 ❤️
As Anja has used a DK weight yarn, that’s a tricky question to answer! I’d suggest making a sample in both a DK and an Aran weight yarn, then comparing the two to see how much bigger the blanket would work up using an Aran weight yarn. As you say, the multiple would be the same, so the samples would hopefully give you an idea of how many multiples you need to reduce by for using an Aran weight yarn instead of the DK. Hope this helps!
www.opheliatalkscrochet.com/ here’s the link to my webshop with lots of yarns available, hook size depends on the yarn you choose and your own personal tension. Anja x
Once you have the chevron down, it will be so easy to make this blanket! I hope you enjoy it! Anja x
Please make your volume a little higher you talk pretty soft its hard to hear. Thank you.
It is perfectly understandable. Make sure you have the volume up on your device as well as on TH-cam.
Anya, you are my favorite pattern maker. Very relaxing projects. This one is a lot of fun! Warmest regards, Jenny.

This is beautiful! How warm is it? Looks like it could be snuggly for reading under with a cup of tea or cocoa.
Hi Patchesmama21, this yarn has 20% wool in it, so yes, it will be lovely and warm for snuggling under, thank you, Anja x
Como haces el final para dar la forma de flecha?es precioso pero como se.termina.gracias.desde España
That's how it finishes Enrique, it's the placement of stitches that makes it zig zag. Anja x
This is beautiful... i have Caron skinny cakes ( DK weight) do you think using this yarn it will work up nice or are color changes to abrupt ? Am I better off using a variegated ?
Sorry Dawn, I'm not familiar with that make of yarn, best thing is to try it out and see what you get!! Good luck, Anja x
I can’t wait to make this blanket.
Did you have any yarn left after doing all those tassels?
Shamababes1 I had a little but not much, thank you, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalksAnja does the choice between 3-1/2 or 4 hook depend at all on whether we tend to crochet tight or loose stitches?
Hello Anja tried it with coats cotton but the nice chevron effect comes from the variegation of the colours and I didn’t like it wool is nicer xx
I agree Antoinette, the variegated yarn really makes this design, I love it, and this yarn is just so lovely, soft and warm. Enjoy, thanks, Anja x
Gorgeous!❤
Thank you so much Victoria, Anja x
Hello Anja
I'm currently crocheting the fifth ball, is one ball really enough for 21 tassels?
😅Many kind regards from Germany, Heike
Hello there greeneyeone, yes, as long as you follow my directions, one ball is plenty for all 21 tassels. Thank you for watching, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you for the quick answer and yes then everything should work!

Do you have any tutorials on the basic chevron stitch that is the only stitch that I don't know how to make
