    I 100% recommend this. I am a programmer and I had inflammations in my arm and this just corrected it. Every mouse that is not a gaming mouse should be designed like that. It's so much better for your tendons. Game changer for anyone working on a computer.

    For the keyboard suggestion, the Microsoft sculpt ergo keyboard is my 1st choice by far !

      Thank you for the suggestion! That is one I have been looking at and looks great but I'm more in the market for a split keyboard. If I dont decide on one soon I might just go with teh sculpt ergo for now.

    I have a vertical MX, it's too big for me, hurts my hands, I think the LIFT will be better. I have an Evoluent small mouse before I LOVEEDDDDDD but it had a dongle and with my MacBook with only USB-C, it was annoying to use

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thank you for the comment! Did you try out the LIFT? Also thank you for the recommendation on the Evoluent if I get a chance I will try it out for the channel!

    Logitech tries to come out of the bottom but they are going right back. Their stuff is cheap knockoffs that lasts 3 months.

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks for the comment. I have used a lot of Logitech products and they have lasted me more than 3 months, this lift still sees daily use with no issues, but of course every situation is different. If you have had issues it might be worth reaching out to the company directly to see if you had faulty units.

  • @AlisonStanton

    Thanks for providing such practical information in a clear way. I'm now confident that the MX is the one for me to try. I'm old enough(geeky enough?) to remember 3M's vertical joystick-like mouse. Now, that was a great mouse, especially in terms of where muscle movement came from. I have also used Anker's vertical mouse, which was better than a normal "flat" mouse but had no bottom of the hand support. I've been using Microsoft's bendable mouse for a few years. Carrying something flat in a travel bag is a huge plus.
    In terms of ergonomic keyboards, the Logitech Ergo K860 is the current best IMO. Logitech's USB doggle is replaceable without buying a whole new keyboard. When you lose MIcrosoft's doggle you're out of luck. I have no idea why everyone gets obsessed with mechanical keyboards, the key switches, etc. The TypeMatrix keyboard was based on a lot of really good ergonomic research and ideas, but is no longer available or supported. From my experiments over the years, the important pieces to prioritize in ergonomic keyboards are a)space between the hands and b)finding a way to have the most used keys(shift, enter, control, etc.) require less-to-no pronation of the hand and not have them typed by the weakest finger(the pinky). If you want to do better than the Ergo K860 you have to do a lot of multi-hundred dollar experiments with niche companies and you still may not find a good option.

      Thank you so much for the wonderful comment and insights!! And I’m so glad I could help with this video! There were a lot of interesting form factors for mice that have mostly gone away now haha I once used a trackball and it is something I might want to dig up for the channel and compare it to vertical designs. I also love Microsoft’s arc mouse!! Such a cool concept but I believe it wasn’t compatible with iPadOS the last time I used it, which was a real shame as it would compliment a slim tablet so well… ill have to look into that as well.
      Thank you very much for the suggestion! I was looking into Microsoft’s ergonomic keyboard so it is good to know. The TypeMatrix looks like a really interesting design and of the non standard layouts one that many people could more easily get accustomed to. And i think your right on target for what makes a good ergonomic keyboard, for years I primarily used half of the keyboard while drawing with the other and was able to avoid wrist strain by positioning the keyboard at a comfortable angle. Now that I do more typing, I can see unhealthy habits and feel that an ergonomic keyboard will help. At the moment Im considering a split ergonomic keyboard, as it might fit my art workflow better, but as you say they are expensive! Especially to get shipped out to japan… but it is something I plan to try out in the near future! As far as the mechanical keyboard boom, I think it can be similar to legos for adults in a way haha I was big into customizing things for years, amassing a collection of many things trying to find perfection but now feel like I’ve gone full circle and want to simplify things haha

    I have been using a mx vertical for many years now and quite like it. you can do anything an ancient mouse design can do and it actually feels more comfortable. video editing, blender, browsing, fps games all no problem, i highly recommend it to anyone and perhaps one day more manufactures will make them.

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and thank you for the comment! I totally agree and have also been using vertical mice for a long time. I don't remember if there is much of a learning curve but it has become a very natural aspect of my workflow and can see people using it for other computing tasks that I didn't cover in the video! Hopefully it does catch on a little more as I'd love to see other vertical designs with more functionality or price ranges!

      Thank you very much for the wonderful comment! I really cant see myself going back to "traditional" mice and the MX vertical is a joy to use everyday for work so I'm sure you'll have a great experience!
      Thank you very much for the suggestion! Split keyboards have been on my mind for a while now. I do a lot more typing for scripts than I used to but also spend a majority of my time with keyboard shortcuts so it feels a bit scary to give up the standard layout, but I think I can make something work with a little bit of time! I'm sure you'll see a video on the channel one day haha

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much I'm glad you liked the video! It has been a nice combination as the MX vertical can be a bit too large for smaller day bags. That being said I could see an even smaller ergonomic mouse being more practical than the lift for daily use so I might look into it in the future.

    Hi, any plans for doing an artist review on Gpd Win Max 2? The 6800u version has pressure sensitive pen support!

      Hello and thank you very much for the comment! I am very interested in the new gpd win max 2 and hope to get hands on within this year. I saw the pen support, and while It helps show that products like the win max can be for creatives, without a swivel screen to use it as a slate i dont see myself drawing for multiple hours on it… but I will definitely test the accuracy of it!

    Great review... I started considering going ergonomic as well and suddenly on top of vertical mouse I saw that a lot of people in the creative industry use a trackball mouse and that stopped me because it made as much sens as going vertical... Do you have experience with that kind of mouse as well?

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and thank you very much for the comment! I did use a trackball mouse for a little while but never quite got used to it. I’m sure if you spend some time with it, they can also be a healthier solution as your hand isn’t moving as much while your working. Some of them are integrated into more vertical style mouse form factors which might be a good solution for you! I have also seen a lot of manga artists use them here, I always wonder if they overwork their hands all day everyday and have to switch to not cause any more damage… it’s always good to be proactive!

    Hi Tsukepen. As a fellow ergonomics enthusiast I have to mention to you and others here this new thing I been using called a vertical mousepad. Like a vert mouse it puts your hand into a handshake posture, but you can use any mouse you want. May be something worth checking out as you mentioned you're into standing desks too and all things that help with healthier more comfortable computing. As with all things there's trade-offs but this thing shines when I have one hand on the mouse and the other on the keyboard typing shortcuts. I been doing lots of 3D modeling and photo editing so my hand stays on the mouse for long periods of time. Orb control makes one called mouseramp.

      Hello and thank you for the comment! I think it depends on your use case. For more casual use I never really think about the scroll wheel, but for video editing I find the MX Verticals quick bursts to be really useful! Or I just used it so much it feels that way and it makes it diffiuclt to switch haha

    Hi, Watched your 2 video for this mouse and Thanks for the review. Sad that you don't speak about the side button ( forward and back ) because the MX Vertical are so small and too high... I have medium hand ( looked at logitech site lol ) and need to stretch my thumb to reach those and this make for a bad experience using this mouse because i have to change my grip everytime i want to use the forward or back button... When i look at the Lift though they are bigger and seems easier too reach.

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and thank you for the comment and I’m sorry for the oversight in the video! It is something I briefly touch on at around 04:38 but as a function i use every day, I should have addressed in in more detail. Personally, the MX verticals inner thumb buttons are very accessible for me and the way I grip the mouse, it does require me to roll my thumb up ever so slightly but it doesnt change my grip necessarily. With the lift the inner buttons feel accessible without any extra movement of my thumbs, and are positioned in a very convenient place. These custom buttons are a great benefit of the mice and something I will take into account for any further videos! Thank you very much for mentioning it.

      @tsukepen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm unfortunately I don’t have any experience with the MX master 3s or anything in the series. It does seem to have a bit more custom functionality compared to the lift or MX vertical. It might not be as ergonomic but the tilt should help for your longer work sessions. If you have larger hands and don’t really use too many custom functions, I think the MX vertical could be a great healthy solution for long hours on the computer, but any of the 3 should be a nice comfortable upgrade from a standard mouse!
