- Upon first glance Emerie Carr might look like any of the other researchers at Mount Tantiss, but what makes her special is that she's in fact a clone. We take a look at the mindset of Emerie and what motivates her to be so loyal to the Doctor Hemlock and what ultimately changes her point of view.

When Hemlock said that Emerie would be allowed into the Project Necromancer vault, I was expecting a dark chamber filled with tubes containing warped, deformed Palpatine clones. Instead, we are shown a clean, brightly lit room with a few innocent children sitting and playing with holograms - and somehow, that is even more horrifying.
Same experience I had watching those parts
Reminds me of Akira with the old kids
Great summary! Exactly how I felt
George Lucas would approve of another authoritarian prison that echos THX-1138.
Exactly!!
That “oh that’s classified” jab Hemlock said to Tarkin felt really bizarre. And it seemed Tarkin felt the same way. He’s not normally the one locked out of Imperial activities. He also had no grounds to argue on with it being a “project of personal interest to the Emperor”. Pretty cool. This guy was Krennics hero lmfao 😂
It's always nice to see Tarkin reminded he's not the big cheese yet.
tarkins probably gonna steal the zillobeast and feed hemlock it for that 😅
@@GenerationTechWe can only hope...
Bro was salty that he'd not the only one with a big important project the emperor likes
Lmao, yeah the fact that Tarkin is kept out of it definitely had him thinking 😅
Clones are ironically driven by a
basic human desire:
To belong ,and to have a purpose.
It's not ironic. They *are* human. Just not natural born ones.
That genetic memory and instinct all humans have is still there under all that training and brainwashing.
Even a cloned human is still a human.
@rippingtons60 I recommend reading " FRIDAY " , by Robert Heinlein.
Facts
Bad Batch has far, far exceeded my expectations. It has been a fantastic series and I'm excited to see how it ends.
The first 2 seasons have more filler than I’m comfortable with- especially season 1, but when it’s not focusing on the filler, it’s a worthy true successor to Clone Wars.
@@Mojo1356It's called moments for the characters to breath and develop while we understand them better. This type of "filler" has been heavily present since the very beginning of television history. In Clone Wars it seemingly worked better because it was an anthology series and we could hop to basically any character in the whole galaxy, have a bunch of episodes with them and then on to others. Here you can't do that without deviating from the Batch too much. It's always gonna revolve around them and thus you need time to expand them without putting them on the front lines every episode or crossing paths with familiar characters
@@beenalive1736 that’s the problem though. 90% of the missions Cid has the boys doing doesn’t do any of that. It’s just that- doing missions without any development.
I hated them at their debut. I've come around. The show is really good
Did anyone else see Scorch flinch when Hemlock says that the kids are "scientific assets nothing more." like wright as Emerie turns to look at hemlock scorch also turn to look but shifts his shoulders and gaze very uncomfortably. (I say this knowing full well he stuns one of the kids in the episode.) I think there may be some hope that there is still a man who learned some decency in there somewhere.

Hmm… it’s possible, but I wouldn’t bet on it just yet. It could simply be the animators making sure no characters stand too still.
@@GGBlasterpossibly, but if anyone can be excused for standing still and not be lazy animation, it's a soldier on duty.
I feel like it's hinting at him not being entirely comfortable with it. Whether or not he actually acts on that at some point is a different question entirely.
At the end of the day, they weren't created and trained to guard captive children in a prison/lab, and they're not completely soulless. No normally functioning human likes seeing children suffering.
Something I see is that Emry is not only helping Omega is some ways, but she is getting help from Omega is return.
That laboratory reeked eerily of the prison from Andor. Cold, white, clean and utterly devoid of all personality, warmth and comfort. - Also, Tarkin already working again to hijack Project Necromancer and stealing it for his own, classic Tarkin once again!
The doll that Omega made, I myself was in shock Emery kept it as a souvenir, I was already in tears, it means she still has a heart, I knew that Omega would have a good influence on his sister, I will say one thing with joy, “Omega, you’re great,” you know what they say, “There is hope always even in dark terrible times"
Her* her sister omega is a girl 😂
Her* Omega is a Female 😂
I’m pretty sure that all female staff in Tantiss you see in the background are female Fett clones, but I could be wrong.
Thats a lot of genetic variation so i doubt it, but it wouldnt suprise me.
@@ImmaSpam__________________Can there's also a lot of variations in the male clones. I also had a similar thought about them being clones.
That’d be an extra layer of horrifying. For all our sakes, I hope it’s not proven true 😓
In glad someone else noticed
That's what I thought was going on.
I see what you're doing with the narratives of videos like this one, and I strongly approve, I'm so glad you're doing this and sending this message out to as many people as you can in order to try to make a world a better place. I have always really appreciated you and this channel, and my appreciation levels lately I've just skyrocketed. Thanks for everything my friend.
I'm surprised you didn't have the scene where Emry confronts Nala sing. That part was literally Emry lashing out after seeing those children and then remembering that was her in Kamino or wherever she was sent to. That part was deep and then when Nala tells her afterwards.
The one thing I can say is whatever the next Star Wars animated project is I want Jennifer Corbett to head it. Bad Batch has been great (well at least season 2 and 3). Also these episodes were written by Amanda Rose Muñoz, and she has written for Bad Batch before, but this was definitely her best work yet.
I’ve said it before I’ll say it once again. I love Allan and this channel because he’s able to point out and articulate real world problems/ real world thoughts, and to be able to identify and address those issues is amazing
Ditto, hear hear, you said it best!
That's exactly why I love his videos. Many starwars channels can give you all the lore only generation tech is able to relate it to the real world and have a message thats for the betterment of humanity.

I suspect Emerie will be the one to contact the Bad Batch (directly or indirectly) with Tantiss location.
As soon as I finished the episode too cheers Alan!
Almost spoiled a new episode for myself... Saving this for the morning
I thought the bit where Emerie told the girl that the other kid wouldn't get punished wasn't her lying, but rather not knowing how it would happen, if at all. Sure, she's worked at the facility for however long, and she knows how things work in the Empire, but at that point, she's only worked at the Vault for, like, a day or so. As far as she knew, the kids were held in the Vault the whole time, so she might have figured that the kid would still be the Vault, and would just probably be kept in his cell as punishment. Omega was confined to her room as punishment, but Omega normally had much more freedom of movement than the other kids.
Did anybody else notice there were a number of other... suspiciously similar looking female officers/scientists walking around?
I highly suspect Emerie isn't the only adult female Fett clone, in fact I think they're about to casually reveal the female clones are an entire separate cast of the Fett genes(similar to the CC's) with mental enhancements rather than physical ones, presumably bred for top secret scientific roles we haven't seen before.
I don't think the similarities between Emerie and Tech's personalities are coincidental. I think Omega was the first attempt, Tech was the second, and Emerie was the eventual template they chose and used to create more clone scientists.
Hmm. Good one. Gonna screenshot you.
Your talk at the end about constant cyncicim online really rings true for me
Love your vids bro keep them coming 🙌
Andor and The Bad Batch have gone out of their way to make sure no one still sees the Empire as "cool". The Mount Tantiss episodes have been deeply disturbing to watch. Something tells me I'll be in near tears when this series ends as I can't imagine it ending in any way except tragically
the vibes in this episode were on point. some shots looked straight from bladerunner 2049

Thank you for this video. It was amazing. I had forgotten how a few Professors in college had changed my worldviews, broaden my horizons that lasted for the rest of my life. I love how you take fandom subjects and include life lessons or history education in them. Our own Professor. Thank you.
The whole thing of isolating people and making them feel inadequate reminds me of an ongoing controversy in vtubing. The situation of Nijisanji being exposed as a black company to an incredible extent. Not only do they have a contract that's even illegal in Japan but they convince their livers that they can do nothing without the agency and it's parent company Anycolor. Fortunately, much like things with people in the Empire, that's coming unwound as people realize that they can succeed and even exceed previous levels of success away from the agency.
An imperial commissar is what she is
Hemlock gives me vibes of a guy who wants to be in charge of *everybody* and is ambitious enough to try to hijack a project intended for the Emperor himself. Which is to say, I kind of feel like Hemlock has an ulterior motive and is trying to make a working Force-sensitive clone body that he could then transfer his own mind into, rather than Palpatine's.
I can honestly see that, and I know this is a stretch. But man, I'll love to see her in a clone armor outfit.
the whole project will be shut down by the clones or Palpatine, why? because we see another tries with Moff Gideon in Mando
@@kahtyman7293 It's clear the project won't completely succeed...yet...since in the Mandalorian show we saw some 'Palpatine' clones, so the project made some great progress but nothing finished. As we also know from the trilogy-that-shall-not-be-named *ahem* 'somehow he returned', the project will succeed.
Jokes aside I personally like the idea of project Necromancer and where it's going. I just wish the execution of the sequels were better because we now have all these shows building up to the Return of the Empire with Thrawn, Project Necromancer, for now that is it, but all this can't build up to what the sequels did...nobody knew of anything, not even whispers and they somehow have a fleet of Lil' Death Stars in form of Star Destroyers? All of this is like a great writer is working on a build up, and a toddler wrote the conclusion..."MILLIONS OF STAR DESTROYERS WITH DEATH STAR LASERS...ALSO PALPATINE SOMEHOW RETURNED" not even my dumbass would've come up with this bullshit when I was a kid.

Now where the show has ended I can honestly say throughout this season I cared more for Emerie than for Omega actually
Keep up the great content bro!!
A sword that is too hard keeps its edge extremely well, but chips easily, is more difficult to sharpen, and is brittle, breaking too easily under stress. A sword that is too soft lacks a reliable thrust, bends out of shape, dulls very quickly, and isn't efficient when surrounded by or forced into contact with tougher objects, having greater difficulty cutting and slicing. The best weapon is layered, structured in various creative ways, combines the flexibility/shock absorption of softer metals with the toughness, efficiency in slicing/thrusting, and penetration of strong materials. The mind and body of a soldier is the same. They require strength, toughness, sharpness, flexibility, and longevity to operate at peak efficiency; emotions are not the enemy, they are the softness that prevents a hard blade from shattering under strain and allows one endure environments/circumstances that would otherwise destroy it. The combination of soft and hard, of ruthlessness and mercy, of efficiency and honor, loyalty and rage; these produce a far superior example in weapons and human beings. A weapon that is not used is good only as a display piece, only good at something it was never designed for which isn't worth much; display weapons break easily, bend easily, lose their edge almost instantly, and are completely without balance aka good for being looked at, poor at the nature and reason for its existence to the extent when finally used it can not accomplish its purpose. Family and brethren, comrades and freedom, fear and love, patriotism and cynicism, cruelty and compassion. Duality is in our nature. Fail to master both or neglect one and you will break. Unlike a tool or a weapon, it is much harder to repair or reforge a human being into a superior example of the species.
Ultimately, just like a weapon, whether a human being will fail and break under combat conditions is something you can only discover after experiencing it; the sad fact is that a broken or unreliable weapon/person is extremely dangerous to you and your comrades. Many a person has had to be killed by their own comrades to preserve and protect the lives of the of the squad, company, and division. A soldier that can't function as a soldier is often a greater danger to themselves and their comrades than the enemy, but this person isn't malicious or cowardly, only a problem that MUST be fixed. There is no triumph in their deaths, no glory, and no evil intent when they are executed, only sympathy and understanding with the hope that others would have the same courage and mercy to extend the same courtesy to you if/when you become that type of danger to those you would die for and kill to protect. They suffered an equipment malfunction, not a failure of courage/loyalty/honor. You can survive a hundred battles without a problem, only to go mad or break at the worst possible time in the worst possible place during the 101rst battle. The greatest comfort in having comrades is knowing that they are watching over you and won't allow you to be the one responsible for getting everyone you care for killed due to some misplaced sense of altruism, they'll protect you from the enemy and protect everyone else from you if the worst should happen. Never leave a soldier behind "alive" aka don't wimp out on them or suffer them the torment of being a prisoner of war; very few militaries share our sense of decency and fair treatment for POW's, even then we'll break the conventions if it is weighed as being critical to survival/success; often using loopholes; "wasn't aiming at THEM...just the buttons on their shirt". Think of it as pulling the plug on a brain dead person and being entrusted to make that decision by a family member so they don't suffer a fate worse than death, in itself it is a relief of stress that may keep that person from breaking.
Brought to you by The Philipps Family, serving in every American conflict since 1776 and surviving as proud Cymru warriors (as well as Princes) since roughly 760 BC. On a related note, ALWAYS pass down your knowledge and skills. Train your sons to be strong, your daughters to be stronger, and always know how to give power up once your goal is accomplished. Power and strength that doesn't serve the betterment and protection of your family only makes you a target, causes more trouble than its worth, and may corrupt you or open you up to corrupting influences. Lastly, always remember this: no matter how mighty or clever or skilled you may think yourself to be, NOBODY wins for long. Sometimes you may find that even when defeated, you've won. Losing the battle, surrenduring your home/castle to the enemy is defeat by any definition yet if it ensures your family survives to live the type of life you've taught them to appreciate and aspire to, then a castle is a small prices to pay for the life of a son. -Theodosius Montreville Philipps, descendant of Sir Erasmus Philipps of Picton Castle whose father was forced to choose between his only son and the castle our family ruled for centuries after the Pro-Parlement Commander broke the white flag of truce to kidnap a three year old Erasmus then threatened to launch him at Picton Castle in a catapult if the Baronet did not immediately offer his unconditional surrender. To his eternal credit, he did not hesitate in surrendering knowing that doing so may cost he and his son their lives and lands yet not doing so would result in certain death for his only son. A child of your family should always be worth so much to you that giving up lands, title, and a castle for their life isn't worth a moment's hesitation; otherwise you have no family and never did or if you do, it isn't worth pissing on if someone set it on fire.
Very well spoken. Thanks Allen👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼

3:46 anyone else wondering when Emmery was sent away, and the reason why? Then the circumstances after she was removed from Kamino?
im guessing its something related to medical care or research?
Maybe somebody bought her
My personal take on this is that Hemlock was the one who commissioned the Kaminoans to clone her for him, maybe, even using the DNA of his daughter who was dying from an incurable illness as her template. Even though Emery is a clone of his daughter, he doesn't see her as his daughter. His reason for her creation was so that he could use her to find a cure for her daughter's illness, the clone having the same illness but at a different stage than that of his daughter. Or, perhaps, if not find a cure, maybe the clone could even be a replacement for his daughter as if she was never sick and/or died. But he ended up not finding a cure to save his daughter, nor did he get the emotional attachment that he was expecting and couldn't accept her as his daughter. Instead, he came to see her as a result of a laboratory experiment. He didn't have any resentment towards her for existing instead of his daughter. He didn't dispose of her, not because of pity, a reminder of his daughter, or not even because that would mean taking the life of a living being. He kept her around for a reminder that there shouldn't be any emotional attachment towards the specimen in his experiments. They exist for the sole purpose of helping in achieving the desired result of the experiment.
"They're children! Like I was. Was your plan to discard them too?"
Emerie is of the opinion that Nala Se just ditched her (which does explain her line "Ironic, you trust the Kaminoan but not me" in season 2). She was just a kid then so it might not have happened the way she thinks of it, but if she's right she was a discarded experiment, salvaged by Hemlock.
@@shawn092182 Bro that would've been absolutely amazing... but Emerie is another female clone of Jango. So RIP your theory
I wonder why Emerie has a first and last name, unlike other Fett clones (including Omega). If she's a normal, but female, accelerated aging Fett clone it's impressive she was able to get a doctorate in such little time too.
What if she wasn’t a clone, but Jango Fetts actual sister. She wouldn’t be lying by considering Omega her sister in this way.
This episode was very unsettling of what the empire does with kids. Sicking i hope hemlock gets what he truly deserves and not the rampar treatment
Wonder what the true purpose of having a small amount of Female Clones really served. We all know the Kaminoans don't do things just for kix.
Wonder why we never saw any before relatively just now, as it's a Disney exclusive idea. Mayhaps having them as a main set of Corpsman (medics) and maybe also a few used for assistants? Wonder if the Mandalorians had a say in this, and what that reason was
i'm still waiting for the twist that she ain't a clone and was lying.

Dont you mean it is

With Emerie there is some kind of "banality of evil": just doing my job, no matter what that job is... even to achieve horrible things and not consider themselves "evil", because they only were following orders. Could be a very decent person and behave like a good one with all they consider their "equals" meanwhile doing terrible things to those who they don't perceive as it (in this case, been treated as a scientific asset). It has not to be a moral dilemma for the person because they don't consider they are doing bad things, but been a "good" person following what they are told to do or achieving a lot of accomplishments in their field.
Man this was a sad episode, but very good
good video... Nice to see a return to IRL comparisons. SW is and always will be a fantastic vehicle for political and social thought experimentation: A universe that exposes our own through amplified diversity and explicit differences.
WRT ideology - I came to the realisation years ago that they should be viewed in similar terms to George Box's comment on mathematical models: that "all models are wrong, but some are useful".
Ideologies provide a neat way to package theories around human societies and behaviours, and allow a start point for the development of policy and laws. But they are ultimately limited in their validity. Ideologies should be the start point for political education and never employed in isolation. To slavishly follow any ideology is to be like a undergrad that never reads beyond the syllabus ... principled behaviour requires context, case study and dispassionate discourse ... the true mark of a mature polity.
I think Hemlock and Emerie are a dark version of Hunter and Omega.
We've seen a handful of Clones who went bad in one way or another and a lot of them are just apathetic at this point in galactic history but most seem to be genuinely pretty good at heart, so it's unsurprising that Emerie came around to be the same.
Alright dude. Awesome vid.

Omega didn't so much "get captured" as allow herself to be taken as part of a mission. At the end of the episode we see that she is completely calm, in the zone, and using meditation taught to her by Gungi to focus herself. I think that we are going to see her finally go off with all the things she has learned over the course of the show and truly be the hero of the story.

@@shawn092182 I mean sure, but I cannot say the other characters will be left scotch free
After watching this video, I cannot helped but wondering is that today's media glorified villains with tragic backstories as being justified in all awful things and crimes they committed or not. In fact, some of those heroes who stopped them get blamed for everything the villains did after the leaks that revealed they are the ones who ultimately responsible for turning these individuals into villains in the first place.
Who exactly are you talking about? This is a very vague statement.
@@gimpytheimp Those from the MCU like Erik Killmonger, the Vulture and Gorr the God Butcher. And of course, the members of the League of Villains from My Hero Academia.
For real and I'm sick of that. Which makes me appreciate some of the Villians from Star Wars media.
These past episodes gave me heavy resident evil vibes.
considering emeire looks to be about the same age biologically speaking to as the adult clones. i doubt 1st genration due to the fact if she had 'sped' up growth,
like rex and other 1st gens she have the same age lines on her face as the accelerated ageing took its toll and it seems that omega like boba was an unaltered clone with the exception of being breed with more medicolrings than he would have received being a direct clone of jango.
for what purpose omega was given mediclorings we still dont know. as i thought originally she may have being created as an insurance policy by the cloners. that when she reached a certian age she being a more or less pure clone of jango would have being...harvested to create future generations but if she had always being intended to have the cability for force powers.
than omgea may have being intented to create a line of force sentive clones as that did happen once or twice in the old eu when the kamanos realised they were up shit creek with out a paddle though its my understanding that happened well into the empires reign not with in what, the first year maybe 2?
but back to emerie, it could be if she was created to be a back up for omega. to have an hire and a spare as it were but what ever method the kamono's used to create the medicloing count in omaga didnt work and rather than recycle her they or likely Narla sa sent emerie away. and emerie sees this as abadoment which it partly is but also it likely saved her life
considering also how emotionally stunted or shut down emerie is, even comared to male stock of clones. she could have being flawed in other ways
i actually feel sorry for hemlock

i really struggle to empathise with people and absolutely have "watch you burn in hell for scratching my car" scoiopathic tendancies

This was a poignant episode for Emerie and in a small way the clones I’ll start with the clones . The clones for a long time were looked at as disposable assets and now they are viewing those kids as disposable assets which is both sad and ironic.
As for Emerie she is like iden Versio in the since that it only takes one thing one order one person for you to question what you are supporting
Very Nice
I am Emery, because that is my Middle Name.
People don't want to be, it HAS to be taught. People are selfish by nature.
Emery isn't a clone. She is the original amd omega is a clone of her. She has a name, she doesn't talk to nalasai like she has known her for her entire life like omega does. Carr was probably taken as a child. Why would they create a female clone at the beginning of the clone wars when male clones were a top priority and genetic material was limited.
Emerie is going to die art the end of the season

Man. I wish you would delay these videos for a day or so. It takes a bit of time to find out an episode has come out, and then pirate it.
Emerie is an interesting character. The obvious plot twist is that she will be key in bringing down Mt. Tantiss. But to be honest, it would take more than that to redeem her…
she will die at the end of the season
I love how your videos continue to be politically neutral but you focus on the moral high ground with out bringing in political beliefs.
