they changed them out for the full armiger sprues. the 2022 knight box stuck you with 2 of each, while in the new one, you can have any combination. Which isn't to say the new one is better; it's not.

Man, I really appreciate your videos. You come across as authentically happy and enjoying the hobby and what you're doing. It's rare these days and I'm a fan. ❤
Regarding the T'au Box: It's barely 600 points, depending on what kind of Commander you build it might be 10 points more or less. Other than that, it's probably one of the better deals if you get it at steep a discount from your friendly game store, since the Broadsides especially are stupidly expensive on their own. And depending on what kind of army you are building, especially if it's Retaliation Cadre, you might want 2-3 of all of those models in the box, because they're all just pretty good for their points cost.
By my math it's 535 points (90 + 95 + 160 + 190). It's about the best deal you're going to get for Tau at a little over 2 points per dollar but it's still not great and you're probably going to end up with an extra crisis commander down the line.
@@ElGrompho666 Yeah I know my perspective is really warped on this because I got both my Ghostkeel and my Riptide as gifts, and I got two old Broadsides for $10 each secondhand. @@daaaah_whoosh Luckily, I don't. For me it would just be the question of making the "3 of everything" full, as I already have 2 of each in the box. The general price increase of the boxes bums me out though. Last year, I paid 144€ for the Votann box which had A LOT more points and models in it, now I'm supposed to pay 190 (maybe 170 with game store disctount) for less points and less models.
Regarding the Tau box: The current combat patrol already has a commander with no unit to lead, and now you get a second one in the christmas box. Crisis suits are a pretty important part of every tau army, they are expensive and there has been no way to get them discounted in quite a while (at least if you don't count the 80 second window you had to buy the bearding patrol). I just don't feel like I should double up on all the models in the Christmas box for a mediocre discount, just in case they may show up again, bundled with any of the models I actually still need.
I bought the original CP at the launch of 10th when I was contemplating crossing the Rubicon from KillTeam to big 40k... But it has sat unbuilt and unpainted because the cost of building an army of sweet sweet Mecha just has me not wanting to bother.

What's funny is there's 2 xenos boxes. Xenos isn't necessarily the issue (other than the Tau and Necron boxes aren't that great, needing some swapping) but there's 0 chaos. Granted CSm had 2 boxes this year and the cult legions had one each recently, but I guess Daemons would have been interesting? We need dark admech or smth soon.
Lmao daemons is most likely getting taken out back behind the woodshed and given the Old Yeller special, so I doubt they’re wanting to release a whole value box for em anytime soon.
Necron Warriors are just Flayed Ones or Deathmarks waiting to happen. Leftover death mark guns from the immortal box or random sharp bits for claw/knife hands and some green stuff skin and your surplus warriors are useful now. I wonder if I could make Triarch Preatorians out of warriors + leftover bits.
On another video, a commenter told of a GW employee saying that the Christmas battleforce boxes were indeed a way to move what they had too much of. If true, that would fit with the Dark Angels being in surplus and possibly the big knight in that box being new old stock. It also implies that the goal is to not manufacture any new sprues for these things beyond their existing surplus. I managed to snag the Knights box from a discount retailer myself. I recently also got a modern Questoris box at a good price (below US discount retailers even with shipping) so I'll be able to make Canis Rex with that box and then can do the majority of the other big knight builds with the extra bits Canis can't use. I'll keep an eye out for the absent sprue (I hesitate to call it "missing" given the new old stock theory) on eBay in case I really want a Thunderstrike gauntlet on the non-Canis knight at some point but think this will be a good start for a Knight army. But it also would not have been worth it had I paid the full GW MSRP for the battleforce instead of lucking out with a discount retailer that hadn't sold out of everything.
I’m curious about getting the Nurgle box for AOS and thankfully my LGS asked the us warhammer players if we were interested in any of boxes a week ago. It also helps that when your are friends the staff
My FLGS buys/sells so much GW product that they get at least 50 of any major launch box, 20% discount due to their volume of purchases, and they're only getting single digit boxes for some of these boxes which is insane
I completely agree with the dark angels box. Everyone has raved about it, but I don't need a 2nd lion. 😂 The only thing people can do is try and sell him off and use the knights bodys for normal terminators if they already have the full squad of knights. and the knights box missing the rest of the sprues make it less of a deal.
Im a first born Dark Angels player...with a full 100 marine 3rd Company. I only have 1 primaris marine that I got to paint...this might be a fun battle force to get.
from a different perspective of the Hobby: if i would be in the Market right now, i would totally get a Dark Angels Box because they would look neat on a shelf
The sisters box is fun lore wise - it’s all the really messed up ecclesiastical penitent stuff, the really nasty bit of the imperium. Stick in some inquisitors and it’s the most evil force in warhammer.
The joy of building knights for me isn't the 'building' its the modifying that comes after to make each unique. But knights that don't flirt with heresy probably don't deal with that.
Still getting the knights box, its great for me specifically(owning no knights at all and I own both a resin and fdm printer so I can print missing items)
I just started playing and collecting and I chose Dark Angels as my first army. I can not wait to pick up that box, I am so glad I did not pick up the Lion when I was creating my list
Haha in Australia, there where 10 of the DA boxes sent to the largest 3rd party, and 5 or less to the other 5 moat popular ones. So at $405 from GW, not a chance.
I was excited about the knight box until it came to light GW had cheaped out with the questoris kit. Between that and the higher than expected price it ranks at stellar "it might be kind of okay, maybe". And that was still the most interesting of the bunch so I'm not worrying about the F5 wars for the boxes this year.
Surprise surprise the sisters box is still hanging around, almost like the line up for it is so confused about what it wants to include that it feels like a jumbled mess they threw together last minute.
12:52 I found a solution for this! Every squad is a Killteam. I play guard and there's a lot, so it makes sense, but when each guardsman has a role it prevents them from being another guardsman. Plus it fills out my kill teams! Even, and sometimes especially weird ones like blooded or whatever (as long as they have a kinda guard statline) I can get weird with, "why are these guard in particular so violent/organized/stealthy or whatever else that team brings.
This is the first year in awhile that I won’t be picking up a Battle Force box. I bought the Ad Mech, the previous Sisters box, Drukhari, and Tyranids boxes. I was hoping for an Aeldari box with all the new aspect warriors in it and maybe a tank, maybe next year.
I’ve bought quite a bit of Battle Force boxes over the years (Ad Mech, Sisters, Drukharii, World Eaters, Nids). This is the first year in sometime that I won’t be getting one. Hopefully next year an Aedari box makes its rounds.
I'm brand new to T'au (only have their old Combat Patrol and a Broadside) so this Holiday box seems perfect for me to build up my army, I wish it had Crisis Suits though
Your point about getting exactly what you want is super good to point out. I don't play, I just like collecting stuff to paint so boxes like this are just not for me at all
I want the Dark Angels one. I have enough generic marine stuff still on sprue that if i can get the DA box it will be a 2000 point army ready to go. I already ordered 2 of the upgrades and transfers and Asmodai.
Dark angels was sold out in seconds from online retailers, managed to pick up the knight one for £120, £30 for each set of armigers and £60 for a knight without weapons sprues isn't bad, I've got magnetised weapons already
I gotta confess, ive been a DA guy since i got into it back in 2012 and i still dont have inner circle companions or the Lion lol… but i should have him by christmas this year. Will have to wait a few months later to get some inner circle guys. I do want to find some inner circle knights from FW at some point as well.
I thought about the dark angels box, but I'm deciding against it. I don't have the lion or companions, since I run pure deathwing, but I already maxed out on what deathwing I can actually take.
Void Dragon is 290 points it is an absolute slap for its cost this box is worth it just alone with the 2 lychguard @60 usd each and void at 130$ the warriors are basically free
I'm debating the ironjawz box, but I don't really want that side of Orruk Warclans if they are splitting this edition, I have a Kruleboyz army, and I'm quite happy with them
Been wanting to start a dark angels army and am even currently painting azrael will be done today. I was at the mall with my fiancé when i remembered the pre-order drop and then I scrambled to camp the site on my phone, got it… looked again like five minutes later and it was the only box sold out 😬
Ye so I'm actually buying the Tau one. For now I collected ad-mech and I got kinda feed up with the infantry spam you had to do in this army so instead I want to try Tau. Xmas box with combat patrol and a stealth suit kit makes in to pretty good 1k army :3
Cracks me up, some other guy has been asking for ages, everyone's been laughing at him.. you say it any you get likes.. odd huh. Blue, red arm is boring as fark
100% agree. I'll skip the battle force boxes this year. I play Dark Angels and already have everything in the box. I might have been tempted if they had put out last year's Knight box as that had full kits. Still kicking myself that I passed on it.
I'm not gonna bother this year. If they remade the Drukhari beast pack and locked it in a Christmas box, you might get me GW... Ahem, cough, no pressure.
For the Tau set... its kinda a pure show piece box... like all there stuff looks like center pieces but value wise isn't there.. compare to the others it is the most showy next to knights...but if you have the combat box from earlier in the year it is a solid 1 2 punch just lacks kroot/melee
That Hypercrypt picture made me do a double take and check the official GW site. Models out of unit coherency feels more noticeable than empty background space.
When they came out with the christmas battleforces I was like, "Cool! Let me see if there's a T'au one!" and then I looked and I realized I had every single one of those models 2 feet to my right. And it's a great deal which makes it even worse.
dumb question(s): i wanted to start with wh40k and thought about getting the dark angels battleforce box as a start box, is it worth it, what price should i expect (in the eu/germany) and how long will it be available?
Fr, i just want things to paint - but paying that much for that little of a discount and little choice over what’s in it… it doesn’t make for much of an impulse purchase. The spearhead boxes in aos represent much better value for money for a painter
the tau one could be worth it for people like me, i dont play the game for some reasons but i still buy and paint for fun and in case i play because i want to play, so the tau one and others could be good just if you like the tau and want to build and paint them

Warhammer is overestimating the demand for these crap boxes. Barely anyone pre-ordered at my FLGS, everyone is just turned off
I completely agree with the dark angels box. Everyone has raved about it, but I don't need a 2nd lion. 😂 The only thing people can do is try and sell him off and use the knights bodys for normal terminators if they already have the full squad of knights. and the knights box missing the rest of the sprues make it less of a deal.
As someone who has a dark angels army but didn't have the money at the time.. this box is perfect
Sooo... a T-shirt commercial, followed by a GW Battlebox ad, and then the EOB webstore and merch. Class 🧐
As someone who just started making an Alpha Legion army using Dark Angels rules, the Dark Angels box is a godsend
I would have been tempted by the Sisters box if I hadn't bought almost everything in it while starting a Sisters army with the Codex drop.
Nick, the Riptide is 180 points and I believe it's the most expensive model in that box points wise. It's like 500 points in the box
Alreaddy pre-purchased the necron box. The void dragon is too cool, and you can never have too many warriors and lychguards
I would love to spend time in tutelage under Jay to learn all the secrets to making such amazing models! Maybe even learn to play Malifaux!
Hopefully I can get myself a Tau Box.
So far I only have the Devilfish patrol and Shadowsun so everything in it is useful.
I’ve bought quite a bit of Battle Force boxes over the years (Ad Mech, Sisters, Drukharii, World Eaters, Nids). This is the first year in sometime that I won’t be getting one. Hopefully next year an Aedari box makes its rounds.
6 crisis battle suits instead of the ghost would've been a perfect box for me
I laughed out loud on the how…..nice!!!!! Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
I'm picking up the knight box simply to have a big stompy Blood Angels knight.
I'm brand new to T'au (only have their old Combat Patrol and a Broadside) so this Holiday box seems perfect for me to build up my army, I wish it had Crisis Suits though
Your point about getting exactly what you want is super good to point out. I don't play, I just like collecting stuff to paint so boxes like this are just not for me at all
I'm purely an Age of Sigmar model collector at this point, haven't played much. These Xmas battle boxes for 40K are extremely tempting though
Where did you still have the box that came with the codex? I cant find it wanywhere 😢
I’m a beginner and picked up the sisters of battle box here. I only have a squad of battle sisters right now that I’m still assembling
I want the Dark Angels one. I have enough generic marine stuff still on sprue that if i can get the DA box it will be a 2000 point army ready to go.
I already ordered 2 of the upgrades and transfers and Asmodai.
Im so excited tonget the Dark Angels box! Its going to be my first army and i also got the Combat Patrol box on order as well to get ranged squads
Dark angels was sold out in seconds from online retailers, managed to pick up the knight one for £120, £30 for each set of armigers and £60 for a knight without weapons sprues isn't bad, I've got magnetised weapons already
I wish the had 2 tiers of holiday boxes. Maybe one at the $100-150 price point. My kids are kind of interested in 40k, but not $250 interested.
I gotta confess, ive been a DA guy since i got into it back in 2012 and i still dont have inner circle companions or the Lion lol… but i should have him by christmas this year. Will have to wait a few months later to get some inner circle guys. I do want to find some inner circle knights from FW at some point as well.
As a Tau player you want everything in the Tau box. That is however about 500 points of models.
I thought about the dark angels box, but I'm deciding against it. I don't have the lion or companions, since I run pure deathwing, but I already maxed out on what deathwing I can actually take.
Love your reviews man!
Sometimes I forget warhammer minis are a lot more expensive overseas than here in the UK
Void Dragon is 290 points it is an absolute slap for its cost this box is worth it just alone with the 2 lychguard @60 usd each and void at 130$ the warriors are basically free
new video?! my day is saved!
You know, I'm starting to think there isn't a live studio audience. I'm starting to think he made it all up!
I'm debating the ironjawz box, but I don't really want that side of Orruk Warclans if they are splitting this edition, I have a Kruleboyz army, and I'm quite happy with them
Been wanting to start a dark angels army and am even currently painting azrael will be done today. I was at the mall with my fiancé when i remembered the pre-order drop and then I scrambled to camp the site on my phone, got it… looked again like five minutes later and it was the only box sold out 😬
Scalper scumbags at work...
Got the T’au box for $254 aud including postage, really happy :)
Ye so I'm actually buying the Tau one. For now I collected ad-mech and I got kinda feed up with the infantry spam you had to do in this army so instead I want to try Tau. Xmas box with combat patrol and a stealth suit kit makes in to pretty good 1k army :3
I picked up the dark angels box as I've just started collecting dark angels and it gets me a lot of things I need, also here in australia is $405
I have a Dark Angels army and only had one box of Knights. I am 100% getting this box 😋
Crimson Fists next, please.
seconded
CRIMSON FISTS!!!!!
Crimson fistssss
I would laugh if they made it with old resin Pedro Kantor model inside 😂
Cracks me up, some other guy has been asking for ages, everyone's been laughing at him.. you say it any you get likes.. odd huh.
Blue, red arm is boring as fark
100% agree. I'll skip the battle force boxes this year. I play Dark Angels and already have everything in the box. I might have been tempted if they had put out last year's Knight box as that had full kits. Still kicking myself that I passed on it.
Void dragon is amazing rn by the way. He’s only 290, and is obnoxious to shift
I'm not gonna bother this year. If they remade the Drukhari beast pack and locked it in a Christmas box, you might get me GW... Ahem, cough, no pressure.
For the Tau set... its kinda a pure show piece box... like all there stuff looks like center pieces but value wise isn't there.. compare to the others it is the most showy next to knights...but if you have the combat box from earlier in the year it is a solid 1 2 punch just lacks kroot/melee
could you do a video going over all the new combat patrols ? i’m new and haven’t seen anyone talk about it they’re worth it or not
Jay: "i wish there were more xenos boxes".
Me(a chaos player): "am i a joke to you?"
That Hypercrypt picture made me do a double take and check the official GW site. Models out of unit coherency feels more noticeable than empty background space.
Tau do just feel like higher tech level imperial guard.
Can´t you kitbash something with the necron warriors?
I wanted to get Dark Angels, then I noticed the Dark Angels intro box with belial, that i didnt even start. I can wait to get the lion ...
When they came out with the christmas battleforces I was like, "Cool! Let me see if there's a T'au one!" and then I looked and I realized I had every single one of those models 2 feet to my right. And it's a great deal which makes it even worse.
I see jay with gundam in hand, am I seeing a future hobby
dumb question(s):
i wanted to start with wh40k and thought about getting the dark angels battleforce box as a start box, is it worth it, what price should i expect (in the eu/germany) and how long will it be available?
I think I would consider buying Christmas battle forces if they where smaller and cost around 100-150$.
Fr, i just want things to paint - but paying that much for that little of a discount and little choice over what’s in it… it doesn’t make for much of an impulse purchase.
The spearhead boxes in aos represent much better value for money for a painter
I’ve been waiting for a Dark Angels Christmas box since I’ve been playing and of course now that I have all of the stuff they release this box lol
I'm getting up early to pre order Inner Circle Task Force at my local GW shop
the tau one could be worth it for people like me, i dont play the game for some reasons but i still buy and paint for fun and in case i play because i want to play, so the tau one and others could be good just if you like the tau and want to build and paint them
I need explanation on why is the terminator prist in the dark angels one it can't lead any of them so why?
But do you think the necron box is good for somebody just starting in necrons
3:30 id paint them like original mecha suits 😂
