    My favorite oat milk recipe, It tastes better to me than the Oatly brand. The oil in Oatly’s ingredients is what made me look for a homemade recipe. I love how thick and creamy it is. I use Bob’s Redmill’s Organic GF Rolled oats. When I use cold water and only blend for 25-30 secs it comes out perfect for me, it’s never slimy. I make this recipe every 4-5 days depending on how much I use in my coffee during week. As a creamer I simmer (get it real hot but not boiling) a 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup of the oat milk with a little cayenne, orange zest, cinnamon, turmeric and a date. I blend it on high and it becomes the best oat milk latte ever!

      Hi. I just wanna ask something. I tried the recipe today and I frothed the milk up for my latte. But a few seconds later the oat split and it was not creamy at all. Do you know why that happens?

It was wholesome and nutritious. Now looking back. It was better than giving them cow’s milk with all those hormones and antibiotics.

    I think why Oatly is getting so popular is that the taste is different due to the Enzymatic process they carry out in enzyming tanks, they add natural enzymes (think it might be Amalayse) that breaks the oat starches down into smaller components, primarily maltose, which ends up sweetening the mixture/milk naturally as well as removing some of that sliminess everyone mentions. (Maltose is also called malt sugar BTW so this is why it sweetens).
    You can actually buy these Enzymes in vegetarian suitable form so you can pre-soak your oats in an enzyme and water mix before blending (strain and rinse the oats after soaking).

    • @veronicarameshyamb9683

    • @TJWhiteStar
      @TJWhiteStar 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kitteylovesu okay so it looks like you need a mixed enzyme that has both Amylase and Glucoamalayse to get it to work the best. This is because the Alpha amylase breaks down the longer starchy chains into dextrins which the glucoamylase then breaks down into sugars (Beta and Gamma Amalayse can do this too). This should remove the gritty, starchy mouthfeel and prevent slimy oat milk whilst giving it a natural sweet taste.
      I don't have any specific links but you're looking for a Gluten Digestive Enzyme mix with Amalayse and Glucoamalayse in it. Amazon usually stocks a few different types where you can look at the labels before purchase.
      Hope this helps.

Almond flour, 1 1/2 tbs bk powder, 2 tsp xanthan gum, 1/2 cup maple syrup, 1 1/2 c vilk or juice. Bake at 425F for about 20 mins. Ok I’ve tried a bazillion oat milk recipes and THIS is the ONLY one that I didn’t pour right down the drain. Keeper! Ok I admit I added some sugar and a pinch of salt. DELISH!!! Now I’m gonna try flavoring it with my favorite creamer flavor - hazelnut, using hazelnut extract. We’ll see how that goes. THANK YOU!!! 🙂🙏🏼🙌

    • @alliphil1
      @alliphil1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Ok I’m back to report a few things:
      - It tasted SO good that I drank all 4 cups the same day I made it. Whoops! 😬 Had to make another batch and added a little vanilla to it. Even better!
      - I’ve been using this as creamer in my cup of tea in the morning and it’s perfect! Didn’t even need to add hazelnut. Great on its own with the vanilla flavor.
      - Do NOT use quick oats for this. When I used quick oats, it got slimy on Day 2. I used rolled oats instead and day 2 was just fine. Just remember to shake or stir very well before using. Let’s just say none of my batches made it beyond day 2. It’s too delicious 😀
      - Do NOT blend for more than 30 seconds. Pull out your smart phone and literally time that 30secs. I tested it a few seconds longer and it was slimy on day 2. Probably blend even shorter if you still dare to use quick oats.
      - For the record, I’m using a VitaMix high speed blender. I heard that you have to blend longer (1min) if you’re using a regular blender but I have no clue.
      - I’ve never drank Oatly milk but after having this delicious homemade oat milk I was curious so I went out and bought the low fat Oatly that has no oil. I poured a glass of this milk and a glass of Oatly and drank them side by side. This homemade milk was MUCH BETTER than Oatly to me. Now maybe the full fat Oatly tastes better than the low fat one BUT I’ll opt for THIS vs low fat Oatly any day. Now I’m looking at the rest of that quart of Oatly sitting in the fridge while I continue to make more batches of THIS oat milk recipe. 😀
      Ok that’s all for me. Back to my milk! 😀 Maybe I’ll see if I can stretch it to Day4 and see if tastes the same. Dunno.

    • @alliphil1
      @alliphil1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A year later... back to report that I am still drinking this daily but now I blend for no more than 15-20 seconds. Even more devoid of sliminess that way and lasts at least 7 days.
      And I also omit the cashews now. I accidentally forgot the cashews once and realized that I prefer the taste without cashews. My updated recipe (oh so good!!)
      1c rolled oats
      4c water
      2Tbsp maple syrup or organic sugar (hey, I like it sweet)
      1tsp vanilla
      1/2tsp salt (the magic ingredient!! So yum!)
      Done in literally 5 mins. I add the sugar, salt, and vanilla after straining.

    I used to drink goat milk because I was sensitive to cow's milk. I was just reading how scabies is like a form of mad cow disease that goats can get. I had to pay $4 per quart of goat's milk and I drank almost one quart every day, that would be $120 per month. I was primarily concerned about the cholesterol in the goat milk to begin with. But after watching your program I realize I can easily switch, save lots of money, and feel better about drinking milk that reduces my cholesterol instead of increasing it, and I don't have to worry about if the animals are treated well and disease free. Thank you so much for this amazing and wonderful presentation.
