I just started getting into the RC game again and of all the videos I've watched this thing has the best jumping and landing capabilities of all the ones I've seen yet. I'm definitely going to purchase this when I have the money saved up.
Damn, that's pretty freaking sweet! Not going to lie, I've not had great luck with Redcat in the past, but it really looks like they're stepping up here.
Definitely looking at this looking to buy a basher for the winter i just got back into the hobby and buikt a kyosho fw06 but now i need something to run during the winter i have an old erevo that either needs a reciver or esc but cant figure that out until i get some batterys and change the connectors its looking like it might be worth it to just go ahead and get something new
Awesome video Troy, would you recommend this for next RC? I've also have been looking at the ARRMA Typhon 1/8, and the new contender wov racing tyrants. Any thoughts?
It really depends on what vehicles you already have and how you like to drive. The Machete fits my style really well. It handles BEAUTIFULLY and just SOARS through the air. I really like that. What it does not do: backflips...just too long and not enough power. It is also HEAVY. Running it on 6S instead of 4S is almost mandatory. As a comparison, I used to always run my Kraton on 4S.
Thanks a lot man I got a life where I can’t afford a 1k maxx and my friend has one and I can’t face my 10 scale around him Bc of damage so this is my next buy now
@@trulypoortbreezy1829 The same as any other battery - the charger doesn't care what connector is on it, as long as it is connected! What charger do you use now?
@trulypoortbreezy1829 You can buy charge leads, or solder different connectors on. Soldering is a great skill to have in this hobby. It will save you a HUGE amount of $$ in the long run.
We’ve had ours out twice and I’ve replaced 2 of the control arms. Figured we would just go ahead and see how long they will last. This truck is a blast though!
If you were able to 3D print a coupler for the ESC let me know and if you have the STL can you share it with me so I can use my carbon X1C to 3D print a brace also
I took the buy back option with mine... center diff leaked all the fluid out, passenger side front shock shaft was pulled out, and the front diff was making bad noises. I told them it was a whole new can of worms I didn't care to open up. Good luck with that truck... they do look really cool, but unfortunately I'll never forget it as being the only rc car I had for almost a week and never drove, and returned.
mine broke driving across flat ground. JB weld didn't work. I wonder when my Replacements will be here. I didn't jump it much but it was always diving.
I just watched the video of the live stream. Nice, I should get them in a couple days. I put gorilla tape on the arm and maybe the hose clamp would stiffen it up and hold it.
That is very cool man. Looks like a great rig. Got some serious height on those jumps and it lasted quite a while. So. What you're saying is, if you go out and buy longer set screws. The other arms will be fine? Thanks Troy
Trying to.choose the next step from the less expensive rc cars I am just starting and have legendary legend and two others along that level .looking at the redcat machete and the losi dbx pro what are your opinions between these two .also havnt seen any reviews on the 4s version of machete.should someone just spend the extra 100. For the 6s or is 4s worthy . Thanks love your videos very helpful
Great questions Scott! Both the Machete and DB Pro are good choices. The DB Pro is a little more versatile, as it can easily be converted to a SCT truck for racing. Parts are probably cheaper on the Redcat. Argh. Tough choice between them! Both are solid choices!
Awesome to see you sending it! Pretty nasty landing on the corner 👀 I have broken plenty of arms on a landing like that 👍 Did red cat overreact with the recall? Maybe they should have done a rolling change like everyone else 🤔
Are the current shipments of the Machete shipped with all the fixes and updates or do they ship as originally produced about a month ago along with the updated parts which you have to swap out yourself? Also, do they now come with any tools?
Great question. From what Redat has said, I believe they are shipping with the original parts installed AND the upgrade parts in the box. Good news - the upgrades are super-simple to put on...and that is only IF your truck actually has the issue.
I was wondering how that truck would be . Look's cool ...! I need a truggy style truck . Don't have anything like that . Sledge or maybe one of these . I like that truck . I'll be keeping check on that one .
@@RoadsideRC man my son and I love it. My first was a tmaxx my dad got me so I had to pass the R/C torch to my son. We have over 13 now in all scales. We race 1/8 dirt oval nitro and electric. What I’m gonna do with my stock upper control arms take them apart and get some all thread from Home Depot or Lowe’s and put longer rods inside the upper arms and the rear arms before they break. I think it sounds like a good idea. What do u think bout that man
100% the ramps fault. Seemed like every rc had an issue launching. The low ride height seemed like the issue but everyone having issues… Great bash in any case, thanks for sharing!
I am still amazed that Redcat didn't learn anything from the Kaiju EXT (which I am STILL having upper arm issues with). Personally, I can't get past the look of this truck, er, truggy, uh, whatever... lol
It is really interesting to see their messages they sent out on the issues. It seems to continue to not really be a design problem, but more of a manufacturer/assembler issue. Based on my experience, this truck is going to be really strong...when assembled correctly.
@@RoadsideRC I feel the same way about the Kaiju EXB. I love it, but I am very frustrated with it's simple weakness. I have a claim in with them right now. If they don't fix this, I will. Once I fix it, it will be fixed...
Do RC is a big time redcat hater and he cant drive very well lol.. he turned off so many people from buying this car.. I think that was his ultimate goal though.. the same way RC guy garage turned off everyone from buying the Kaiju EXT..Great vid bro and the issue is quality control if the arms aren't built correctly on the particular rig i guess.. Quality control has been an issue with Redcat manufacturing but the cool thing is is they take care of it
It really is interesting, isn't it? Based on what I had seen, I literally expected the truck to fall apart on the run up TO the ramp! :) I was literally astonished that it just kept taking these jumps without issue.
As far as redcat, stick to the overpriced lowriders, everything else they make is problematic and weak diffs. Arrma, losi, or Traxxas. Even take a gamble with new HPI because it's the same price point and they need support. This is a talion/sledge/kraton wanna-be.

They're $399 from Redcat right on their website black Friday sale! Until December 2nd I believe. That's $100 off!

Glad to put it out there! I sure had fun with it!

Maybe RPM or M2C made an arm from the machete ? Or 3D print on your own ? Each time bash you should replace the arm i think it's not worth ?
Perhaps I didn't clearly say it in the video. These are the bad arms. Redcat has fixed the issue and is putting out new parts.

Center diff change is a MUST based on my experience.
