Kyosho just sayt back and waited for Traxxas to attempt a drift car, and said "now is the time" and made a better looking, better set up and cheaper entry level car with option parts that serious drifters would want.
As someone who’s just getting into drifting and saving to get a Yokomo RTR or chassis kit, this peaks my interest and has me wanting to wait. Looking forward to seeing your review when it comes out!
10/10 buying one planning on reusing the body for my lp86 so it gets all the wobble and going to run another body from there line so I can run this as my outdoor basher for the seat time
Honestly I think its a game changer. For someone who has been wanting to get into drifting but wanting a setup like a comp version, things have just been tooo pricey. This price point has me all over this and all the adjustability with the chassis itself and the motor mounting option, Amazing. And the steering angle is great for an RTR.
100% - this has the potential to be a great entry-level car. The one thing that worries me, you said wanting a comp setup....and I am thinking that is NOT what this car will be. Time will tell - but it certainly doesn't seem like the lightweight weapon that a lot of comp folks would be interested in.
@RoadsideRC I can agree with that, this does seem like something I’ll be taking out on the road and driving around for fun in my parking lot more than any comps, but either way I think this thing will be great.
I was close to ordering the MST RMX 2.5 brushless RTR till i saw your video! Which one do u think is a better car to get for a rc drift beginner? Thanks buddy!
I'm very interested and anxious for your hands on review. As someone who is not into comp cars, and is currently loving their LP-86 after starting on an MST RMX, this Kyosho looks like a fun way to add a another basement/driveway drift missile for kids and friends to drive.
I would like to get into the drifting but is a little on the high side $$$ for some of them (not a cheap hobby) I will be interested in seeing your review when you get it. thansk for the vid...keep them coming!
Yes! As with many of the other RC forms - you can go from relatively budget-friendly...all the way to ridiculous! If this chassis is decent - it will be a GREAT starter car.
@RoadsideRC I agree, the versatility potential of this chassis looks promising. I think it just replaced the sakura d5(6?) as my favorite budget drifter! Let's see if they release a kit (like ARTR as they did for the outlaw rampage pro - add electronics and paint the body!)
My personal opinion: I really don't like the smaller scale drift cars. They either (1) really don't work well or (2) are jus as expensive as 1/10. Especially at the price of this car.
I agree im into the small micro drifters and it frustrating alot of options cost so much and them drifting right can be good or bad alot of tuning mods so much to get them slide right the only reason i dont get 1:10 scale drifters is room no were to run them there easier to work on have more options .
Yes! I am getting high expectations based on what I have seen. I am very curious how it will be! I don't expect it will be a comp chassis, but maybe it can be good enough to be fun!
Just like the mini-z. The fog lights have a backing plate with an opening for the tab. *and most likely the tailight buckets have the click points for the rear.
I really love my two Fazer Mk2 cars. One of them is a chassis kit, which makes a REALLY NICE car , and is priced really competitively as well. If Kyosho comes out with a few versions of this car, with different bodies, etc... and among those versions is a bare chassis kit, they will most certainly sell me at least 2! I'm getting this car....definitely.
A cool idea when it comes out is to directly compare the d6 vs the d2. To see whats a better beginner friendly setup. Is it the cheap rtr or is it the cheap kit
Because me personally I'd probably be replacing the brushed system on the d2 but for many that might not be the case and the d2 could be more beginner friendly. Seeing as i a beginner for my first car got a kit and tbh it was a bit overwhelming at times.
Interesting idea! I really am not sure that this directly competes with something like the D6 though. Kit vs RTR is a whole conversation in itself. My guess is most folks will cross shop this with the MST RTR, Yokomo RTR, Redcat RTR, and DC10 RTR. Good question though!
@ lol always more money to make it the way you like.. lol. Gyros aren’t cheap, but based on price you show in vid.. this is an easy buy. Kyosho always wins with their licensed bodies too. Light kits over priced but should be next thing companies should be including as a standard.. I just picked up a rlaarlo for basically a kyosho price but it’s fully loaded CF brushless system with batteries and the quality feels more premium. How are smaller companies able to drive better pricing? Well no licensed body.. but for me I want that licensed body.. they need better negotiators for their licenses lol car companies should be paying them to make it and help promote their cars 🤣
That's $336AUD not bad looking forward to seeing you driving it. I'm still sitting on the fence with getting into drift cars, but something like this being an RTR would be tempting to get for a noob like me..but I'd rather road bash and drift i think. 😋
RWD RC drifting isn't for everyone - that is 100% true. The fun of drifting really unlocks when you get to do it with other folks and get into tandeming. It is a true challenge and very rewarding when done right. BUT - if you don't have a track near you or a good group, then something like an Arrma Infraction could be more fun in a big parking lot or skatepark.
@ Ha i have a V2 with VIPAZ tyres..but RWD is just sooo much fun. Love my SG drift car..i wonder if a drift track would let me run it so i can try it at least. As they say..don't knock it until you try it he he.
Looking at it it's quite similar to the RDX in form with a good looking set up so far with a ton of adjustments from the webpage, but it has a good chance to be good as an RTR and good looking upgrade potential. the price is good too. 240 usd on amain. also I like my spol diff.
I think it looks great. I'm definitely getting one. Honestly I'd love it to drive amazing but I don't care that much. Still getting it even if it's mediocre.
I like how it looks for an outside basher, adjustable wheelbase for the "real scale" bodies by addiction and others. comes with a sweeeeeet AE86 body? sooooold
Honestly I was optimistic It could have been a solid axle rear, like a Mashup of the outlaw rampage pro and the fazer, but... that's asking too much I guess 😅
Maybe I just do it myself with my KORP that's hanging on the wall haha it's MOA so the weight is right where it needs to be, and no driveshaft to worry about!
Interesting thought! I doubt they would go that route, as it would outlaw it for a lot of events (no solid axle allowed) - but then again...I doubt this will be on the top of any comp charts...
@ no.. haha..but kyosho has always been producing initial D line of cars which consist of toyots AE86, mazda rx7 in mini Zs..so i think they will be mazda rx7 for this also..
If the cost is low enough, this may be my intro to drifting. I love the adjustable wheelbase but lots of plastic looks chunky and cheap and boo for the brushed system. Meh
It certainly doesn't have the "attack weapon" look of a fancy carbon fiber drift chassis - but that is also a nod to keeping the price down where you would want it. Can't always have your cake and eat it too! Don't worry too much about the brushed setup. They work great for drifting - and possibly even better than the non-sensored brushless setups that come in many of the RTR cars. I ran my Yokomo RTR brushed for a LONG time just to prove that brushed is OK for drifting. I honestly would rather the RTR come brushed and cheaper - compared to more expensive and non-sensored brushless...because we will all be replacing the motor and ESC at some point anyway.
@RoadsideRC good points as always and I had made the comments before watching the entire video where you disclosed the price. Kyosho bodies are top top 🎩 for scale details 🧐 so it will move back into the "maybe I will buy this” category. As always great video dude! Looking forward to seeing what it can do in your expert hands bc I am no where even close to your level of driving skillzzz 😎
Now, this is more like it! Regardless of some possible cons, at $240, this is likely going to be the go-to entry-level drift car. And, that body, just WOW! Traxxas went with the 4tec chassis and 'modified' it for drifting, but there were so many compromises, it is really just for someone who wants to try drifting. Kyosho, despite calling it a Fazer, has really strayed from the on-road chassis and given us a much more solid platform for drifting. Time will tell if Kyosho has pulled it off, so I can't wait for the review 👍
Yes! Kyosho really did their homework and brought us something totally fresh. I agree - this has the potential to be one of the best RTR drift cars - we just need to test it to see!
@RoadsideRC Totally agree. Hopefully, it's as good as it seems. If so, this will be a great way for people to get into drifting and $100 less than the Traxxas!
Kyosho just sayt back and waited for Traxxas to attempt a drift car, and said "now is the time" and made a better looking, better set up and cheaper entry level car with option parts that serious drifters would want.
:)
My guess is these things have been in development for quite awhile - but agree that this car has the potential to make the Traxxas obsolete.
@@RoadsideRC traxxas obsoleted that "drift" chassis as soon as they revealed it 😂
@@RandomStuffGarage619 shh the fan boys are still in denial.
As someone who’s just getting into drifting and saving to get a Yokomo RTR or chassis kit, this peaks my interest and has me wanting to wait. Looking forward to seeing your review when it comes out!
Yes - I think waiting right now is a smart move.
Depending on your goals - this may be a smarter way to spend your $$.
10/10 buying one planning on reusing the body for my lp86 so it gets all the wobble and going to run another body from there line so I can run this as my outdoor basher for the seat time
Makes sense to me!
Looking forward on the hands-on review Troy! Thank you!
You and me both!!! Can't wait for it to get here.
Also hopefully this helps get new and younger people into the hobby so they can practice and seat time
Yes! 100%!

Awesome video. Great intro as always!
Glad you liked it!
I have the thirst for this rig, just because of that body and the headlights but also because it looks really nice. Cant wait!
🌮
I may preorder one for that cost, I have a use for the body and parts if its bad lol. :D
Yes! I am getting high expectations based on what I have seen.
I am very curious how it will be!

@ I have mine preordered. I can use the body, motor/esc/receiver elsewhere if its bad or upgrade it of course. :D
In the official kyosho video at 1:00 they show how the body mounts work
front tab + rear posts that click onto the chassis
Thanks!
We need to get a closer look to see how we may be able to adapt it to other bodies.
Just like the mini-z.
The fog lights have a backing plate with an opening for the tab.

@@RoadsideRC oh okay that makes since.
So if i switch to my own transmitter will I need a different gyro?
Yes - that is the downside to this 2-in-1 unit.
Good news - I expect the typical stand alone gyros will be better than the built-in unit here.

I wonder what the supercharger attachment is? This car would be good for my drift track for newb track rentals
I *think I saw it on the Kyosho website. It literally looks like a plastic fake supercharger that you can bolt on. Hmm - skip.
It's what they call thier lighting controller. It's optional along with a mini servo to fully utilize the flip up headlights.
can't wait to try this rc,i love trueno ae86
I hope it lives up to the hype!
Just signed up on waiting list the price is awesome for RTR
Awesome!
Would be sick to buy this as a second chassis for some scale rc builds. Man if I only had the budget....
We will see - I am very hopeful this chassis will be great - but not 100% sure until we get our hands on it.
@RoadsideRC I'll be stoked to see your review of it when it comes out. Your yokomo rtr review is still my fav so far

It has a separate throttle gain knob so if that part of the gyro sucks you can just zero it out maybe.
