Man imagine if someone made a road trip like game but with the modern amenities. Better physics, bigger map, more populated cities. Would be cool
Better physics? But that's like, half the enjoyment of the game.
An HD version or a remaster of road trip would be nice, i feel like making a new game with the latest tech would not have the same charm

If he really want to speedrun this game, the NTSC U is the best as it runs on 60 FPS and better water physics than NTSC J
he need to swim to papaya island first to the Factory, then go for the jet turbine
Go back to peach town, install the turbine, then gamble once at roulette. Should be enough to buy the best parts in papaya
Warp back to papaya, buy the parts, install them and do reverse glitch to climb onto the cliff. Then fly to the rainbow bridge
At least that's what speedrunners usually do

My theory is that the game stores the cars velocity value when the dialogue box opens, the visual mesh of the car bouces backwards, but the physical entity of the car is locked in place, this is why the two separated on your first attempt, on your second and third attempt you executed the glitch sooner and it worked, so I assume within a certain timeframe the velocity of your car will still be applied and the physical entity of the car will travel forwards into the trigger for the presidents mansion, whereas if you wait too long the game attempts to "fix itself" and you end up with an invisible car as your mesh has flown away?
Not sure if that makes sense to anyone, I recently started learning game development and my experience is limited (I also know nothing of this games engine)
Oh the president gate skip works because they tried to keep you out of getting in early by making a giant invisible box that wants to push you out of the gate essentially. When you hit the guard and the gate at the same time you essentially freeze the physics on a frame where the gate is pushing you. You then get pushed and because of how ALL of the maps work when you go off the edge you wrap around to the other edge (this is why you always end up kinda not getting lost in the ocean) and as you wrap around you hit the loading zone for the door.

Love this! I used to speedrun this game all the time. The physics exploits and cool routing potential make RTA a lot of fun for speedruns. Would recommend checking out a 100 Stamp run

There is a guy who beat the game in 28 mins he did some crazy jump to the car guy that lost his wife to get the boosters then went over to the Casino bought all the good parts went back over to the island did another crazy jump over to the Teleporter to get to the President did a crazy glitch with the gard glitch around the map to get to the back of the white house beat the race in 3 mins and done
