THIS GAME WAS INSANE FOR ME AS A KID! The types of topics the story covers is insane (i.e. blackmail suicide and government corruption) for whats clearly meant to be a bit of a kids game. REALLY hope you keep this one going for a while for all of the little side stories
[spoilers] somebody on the dev team must have had greater ambitions when writing this story. i wish we could see a remake with a higher budget and better translation so that it could reach its full potential because even as a jaded 20 something i am absolutely enamored with the story and characters of choro q hg 4. the bittersweet ending where you win, but barat fucking DIES always gets me.
@@msr_metalif you decided to time travel after you beat the LOTUS F1 car, you'll be surprised that it's you who actually encouraged green ferrari to race since racing wasn't even a thing back then. This leads to her death/suicide in the main game

This game is called Choro-Q HG 4 in Japan, Road Trip Adventure is actually Choro-Q HG 2, so this game he's playing right now is actually 2 games ahead of Road Trip. The names across regions is an absolute mess. If he wanted to play the game before Road Trip, he'd be looking at Choro-Q HG, called Penny Racers in the EU and Gadget Racers in NA. Need to mention this, but it has the best music in the series without contest.
@@jonatanrobledo9812reminds me of the Kaido Battle (mountain pass spin off of the Tokyo Xtreme Racer) games by Genki, only 3 in the series but: The first game (the one with the bad physics) was called Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift in the US, but It never released in EU. Easy enough The second game (the one with the two Irohazaka layouts) was never released in the US but It was released in EU as Kaido Racer The third and last game (the most popular one, with the short courses, rally, gymkhana etc) was the only one to be released in all regions, with EU calling it Kaido Racer 2 and US calling it TXR Drift 2. Neither of the localized names are "correct" per se, but at least EU makes more sense TL:DR Kaido Battle 1: US & JP (TXR Drift) Kaido Battle 2: EU & JP (Kaido Racer) Kaido Battle 3 (not the official name but thats what most people call it): US, EU & JP (TXR Drift 2, Kaido Racer 2)
Gadget Racers (PAL, 2002) is a proper sequel for Road Trip as in Jaoan it's ChoroQ HG3, an Road Trip was ChoroQ HG2. But for some reason the US release was cancellled.
I feel like a game such as this would be interesting to have nowadays... like a modernized analog of this to finally add variety to all the "samey" racing games coming out. Great video by the way👍

The N64 game you might be thinking of was also called Penny Racers (at least in the US) but quite different from Road Trip and ChoroQ (of course, smh). I played it a bunch as a kid and it was amazing, especially the soundtrack, still play it from time to time on my emulator. No free-roam but you got to put weapons on you car like missile launchers, mine-layers, actual coins that'd allow you a spin attack, etc. At the end of a race, the top 3-placing racers stole parts from the bottom 3, that's how you acquired all your parts. Hopefully Flooby checks it out if he gets a chance. Edit: just wiki'd it and it was in fact called Choro Q 64 in Japan, even got a Japan-only sequel; "Choro Q 64 2: Hachamecha Grand Prix Race"
This game is more linear, story driven and quite grindy, especially in the mid to late game as you need to gather materials to craft stuff. The good thing is you no longer need to buy parts for your teammate and got quite some cash if you joined them. You gonna need those for "parts race" Months and days are there to do different race calendars and some specific activities like the farming at the end of the video for example Mails is basically your main quest to make progress in the game. The "tough chicks" Letter you got? You actually have to attend it to make yourself popular and get noticed by 2 teams you're about to choose later on
I've been grinding the 1st race over and over 1000% emulation speed & ff on pcxs2 (no added speed with ff just for less choppiness), each race takes about 15-20 seconds, have a black FD RX-7 with a V10, supercharger in progress,
Would you all believe theres 26 SEPARATE GAMES in this franchise, spanning back from the ms dos era? What youre playing here, floob, is the fourth game in the High Grade series, all of which (as far as im aware) were ps2 releases. This one was developed by the same people who made the first game in the high grade series, noted for being oddly like Gran Turismo, down to even having license tests. For this game, if you want to experience it first-hand, I'd advise not going for a 100% playthrough, especially since you can completely miss certain events without even knowing it, not to mention gathering every single part is a chore, ESPECIALLY not on emulator. Honestly, I'd just enjoy the ride wirh this one. Oh, and this game has some VERY funny mistranslation errors xP And yes, your micra is in this game. Unfortunately, it's a race prize.

Well, you will, after a certain character dies, and you are then transported into this endless void (but still on the race track) and you need to go through these gates, which makes you go faster and i think beyond your car's top speed too, effectively passing him. Oh and also, this game covers a goood chunk of weird and dark stuff, such as suicide, government corruption, blackmail, gangs too i think, amongst other things. Fun.
Baffling how the company discontinue the toyline to focus on Tomica while they could just coexist. Yeah Tomica has good details and such but Tomica is more for serious collectors (due to being die cast metal) while Choro Q has so many variants (including an RC variant) and interchangeable body with merely a screw or two.
Once you've been to a shop or well anywhere you can buy something you don't have to return to go back to buy more stuff it becomes available at home on your shopping thing
