Sooo, I can absolutely relate to the fear of a wider leg pant! I love wide leg pants and often call them my socially acceptable pajamas. One day, I dramatically bit it in the parking of my workplace. I was wearing extremely wide leg pants and pointy shoes. I had successfully navigated my way down a treacherous open staircase, out of the office and halfway across the parking lot. At that point, I had to step up unto the curb of a small sidewalk area. While doing so, the jabby pointy bit of my shoe caught inside of my pants and I felt my pants pull me forward. I had that moment of knowing I could do nothing to prevent this fall while flailing my arms wildly. My brand new hyrdoflask went flying as my hands, chest and knees skidded against the concrete that was previously below my feet. To put the cherry on top, my laptop in my tote bag jabbed me in the ribs. To this day I am reminded of the danger of wide leg pants ever time I use the water bottle that bears the scars of that incident.

Longwayhomestead has a sponsorsheep program where you contribute to their upkeep and at the end you get a skein or fibre according to the amount you give!

💚 Vera, both the books and series. Your pants looked great; you make me want to learn to sew, even though I know I don't enjoy sewing😂. I had to laugh when you talked about your B belly and the struggles finding pants that fit. I am not plus size, but the B belly is a thing at any size. I also have hip dips, so my lower B and high to mid hip measurements are basically the same. Every time I bend over, my pants slide down🤣

Ooooh your sweater is gorgeous! I’m in same quizzical spot on the fit of a dolman. Hope to try on a sample at the next show, before I commit to this incredible Alicia Plum cabled dolman. Also, huge love to you for fabulous stitching and service. Our birthday girl LOVED the butt-erfly wedge pouch and it was a hit at the witchy sister weekend of wonder.

Thank you for another lovely afternoon (many pauses to look up patterns, etc.). I love those Quaker cross stitch patters and I'm inspired by your socks -- I have a non-gradient (OOAK) skein of Fancy Schmancy Pumpkins that's screaming to be cast on. Had a nice chat with Woolens and Nosh last week at VT Sheep and Wool, where I also always see the Zeilingers Mill folks. If only Zingerman's deli would also be there . . . ..
And I'm completely smitten with my Butt Bags! Several are stashed as holiday gifts, but you know how that goes!
    best from Boston!

I am so grateful to you for giving me a great idea for the 1st ever fleece I ever bought and was then told by my spinning group that it was not fit for spinning!! When you mentioned fleece for compost, it reminded me that they use wool pellets to deter slugs and I do have a problem with slugs, so guess what I'm going to use that old fleece for. Your a great enabler, love you.

I LOVE valdani threads. Lovely colors, nice to work with. I did about a third of that autumn quaker. Loved the chart, hated working on it. So I got it to a finish point, and framed it. Looks awesome!

Your description of the embroidery store reminds me of my nearest Dollar General. Sometimes I walk in there, shop, self-checkout, and leave and the whole time I wont see any store employees. And I'm left thinking, "Is this store on the honor system?" lol. As an introvert, I'm totally fine with it.

I love your forays in sewing. As far as sewing pants I have found @liftingpinsandneedles tutorial series on how to fit and and alter pants (its a 6 part series but you can choose the one that applies to your fit issue if its all you need) to be SUPER helpful in how to get the correct waist band size the right fit through the seat belly and the crotch curve!

Love that you made it to Keepsakes. It is a real destination for x-stitchers. They originally did custom framing, therefore all those great framed pieces. BTW the older charts like yours and older Blackbird charts really do sell for crazy prices. Happy fall, Kat.

My understanding of the reason behind all the stitches crossing the same way is because of how the light reflects off the thread. As a spinner, I suspect you understand about s and z twists, and that’s the reason for the uniformity. 29:29

How the heck have I missed a sweet potato tea 😮 I think I’ve tried everything David’s …I’m drinking apple cider atm/ fall fav 🍂 Vera- I have rewatched too many times- I want to move into the Croft next door and bomb around in her ancient defender. Your stitching is beautiful, I’ve been carrying around multiple Mirabilia mermaids (for many many years) you inspire me to try

I just want you to know that Plum Deluxe made a special blend for the Rose City Yarn Crawl (Portland, OR) a few years ago, so ❤. Also if you like banana bread you must try their banana bread herbal tea. I was highly skeptical but it's absolute perfection.

AmyBeth, you spin, therefore you could spin all the silk embroidery floss you would want, then dye it any color you want! I am stitching with handspun Eri silk right now and it is some of the most luscious fiber I have ever stitched with. Just a thought.

Oh I do wish I could see well enough to stitch on linen. Even with an 18 count Aida, I can only do about 10 minutes at a time. The valdani threads can be purchased individually. I buy from several places for my embroidery and wool appliqué. And oh my goodness! Your finishes are fabulous

I love the Buttery Shortbread tea from Plum Deluxe. So good, but I drink too much tea to buy from them regularly, just too pricey. I associate Constant Comment by Bigelo with fall, so that's easy to come by! I mainly get tea from a local shop, Sheffield Spice and Tea Co (they do ship!), and I'm always excited about their spiced teas.

Another wonderful video! I'm a long time knitter, who caught the cross stitch bug in 2020 during the pandemic. It's so fun to see that you have also started cross stitching. I have a couple of designers to recommend: Kathy Barrick (just finished her Crow No. 5 piece) and Modern Folk Embroidery (some beautiful Quaker and other geometric designs). Thank you for all the inspiration and laughs! -Carolyn

Did the wool batting look like it was needled? If so, I would say that it's for quilting use. When we lived in New Zealand you could buy wool batting to put on top of your mattress to stay warm in the winter.
If it was a fine wool and a very fluffy batting, it could be used for wet felting?

    • @fatsquirrelfibers
      @fatsquirrelfibers  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

It’s a drape thing. Which I understand. It certainly doesn’t work for everything (like a very gathererd skirt will likely stick out from the body more than was intended), but it is a very functional fabric for many others.
