Hi Julie! Thanks for mentioning me. I am so happy you like the yarn and grateful you purchased from me! I can't wait to see what you make. Thank you for sharing about your mom. Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday Julie! 🥳 Sounds like you had a wonderful day. It’s 36 years since I lost my mother. I came home to Scotland from Australia to be with her in the last three months of her life. My sister was already with her, and I joined her with my twin sons who were 10 years old at the time, to help take care of her at home because she did not want to go into a hospice. It might seem strange, but my boys remember this time as being one of the nicest and most peaceful periods of their lives, when we were all living together in my parents’ house, and I’m very grateful that we were able to manage things at home just as she wished. My thoughts are with you. ❤
It is a gift isn't it. We don't see it as that in the beginning, but it is. Good for you for packing up and taking care of her. Your children will do the same for you. ♥
Another wonderful episode. Hospice is very valuable in guiding you towards seemingly impossible decisions. That was the case for me when my husband died earlier this year. Believe me when I say that as difficult as the loss is, there is relief in realizing that they have stopped suffering. I know you have excellent support, but know that we all support you and are sending warm hugs your way.
Hi Julie, I just love you so much. you are such a blessing. I just feel so good when I watch your podcast. I have a few more to watch. You are so sweet and very informative
THanks Julie, great episode. Enjoy your journey with your Mom. I am primary caregiver to my 89 yr old Mom who lives with me, my very understanding Husband and 4 dogs. My Mom has Dementia so every day is ground hog day here. Wouldn't have it any other way...she's my Mom and best friend. I do have family support which is a huge help. Unable to go to any Fibre Festivals but will live vicariously through all the you tube knitting podcasters😂❤ 🇨🇦Sharon.
awww Sharon. Bless you... Seriously. It is a lot of work having a family member with dementia. However, it is such an honor to care for our parents. It is how it is supposed to be. What a beautiful time for you and how wonderful your husband is very supportive. Thank you for watching... I am glad I get to come into your home and bring you some knitting company. hugs.
Such a lovely episode! I still miss my mom every day! We shared the same birthday, & my dad always made sure he & my brothers did all the work for a party & cake! I still miss sharing our day (March 30th)! She was a wonderful mom & started me one all kinds of cooking, baking & crafts, including knitting while I was growing up. There's no one like your mom... Caring thoughts to you, Julie!
Julie, Happy 60th Birthday!🎉❤. Sending up prayers for your mother and your family. It is so difficult to say goodbye to parents that have been amazing people in your life. I am 57 and lost my father at age 32 and my mother in 2016. The separation is so difficult. Sending you a big hug.
I am thinking and praying for you, your mom, and your extended family. I was walking a similar path with my mother and family a year ago. During the difficult times, there were special moments that I clinged to then and do so even now. Thank you for sharing your story and being so humble, you are so real and authentic. I wish you the best and a very happy belated birthday!
Sending prayers to your Mom, your family and all the care givers and doctors that help her. Loved seeing the kitty in the background. I also loved the two vest patterns that you showed. Take care and I'll see you next time.
Happy 60th birthday!! It’s a great birthday to celebrate. I’ll be 62 in January so I had a covid 60th which was very quiet!! I’ll make up for it at 65! I love your sweater and always enjoy your podcast. I’ll send you a picture of our rescue cat Freddie. We drove out east with our trailer and we took him with us. He loved camping!! ❤
Barb, that is a long time to be without your mother. Oh my. I don't know what I will do.... but somehow, I know I will make it. Thank you for your kind comments. ♥
Keeping you and your mom in my heart. I lost my mom 28 years ago. She was in hospice and we were able to be with her at the end. She died at the age of 61 from complications of emphysema. You are right, moms are ALWAYS supposed to be there. I will warn you--there is a final catch. Mom died at 61, and when I turned 62 it was really strange. I asked my dad if it was weird for him when he turned a year older than his father had been when he died. He said, 'Oh yeah!'.. What I didn't ask him was if he subconsciously expected to die that year. I did, because you also don't outlive your mother. I am now 68 so, I definitely didn't die that year. Love to you and your sister.
Oh my. That was way to early to loose your sweet mother. So much time missed. It is true what they say that we must treasure those we love.. Always . Thank you for sharing. ♥♥
I am new to your podcast and am having fun watching all your episodes. My son and daughter in law live in Woodland Park Co and love it. I live in Indiana with my husband in the town of Brownsburg. My daughter, son in law and three grans also live here. My oldest grandson is 22 and a senior at Butler University, a grandson who is 19 and a freshman at DePauw University and a granddaughter who is a junior at Brownsburg HS. I’ve been knitting for over 60 years and teaching it since 2001. I love that I’ve made so many friends because of two sticks and a string!❤
Much love to you and your family ❤ we lost our grandma in 2019 due to dementia and I totally understand since she lived with us a few years. I also wanted to wish you a happy birthday since you had a lovely day ❤ much love to your mom
Lovely episode. You're so right that we never want to say goodbye to those we love but what a gift to have this time with your mom. Sending you and your family lots of positive thoughts. I really enjoy how you share your love of knitting, including the ripping back when it's not working. I'm getting better at that now especially if it's no longer something I'm enjoying working on. Have a good week and take.care.
Blessings to you and your sister. I lost my dad in 1993 and my mom in 2001. It is hard but since she knows where she is going, what joy when she sees the face of Jesus!
So sorry to hear of your mother’s health decline. I lost my mother 13 years ago as myself a mother of young children. My greatest sadness was my children’s loss of a grandmother. When my mother was ill I had the night shift with her. I sat many nights training my crocheter’s hands to knit while tending her. So now I have a way to honor her by making gifts for my family using the skill I learned during a time of great sorrow. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love the white sweater. I would like to try that one but I would prefer to use wool, so we will see how that goes. Love the cat pictures everyone sent! So glad you had a wonderful birthday with your family and friends!
Love seeing your cat walk in the background! Recently after going through my Stash, pulled out all 1 - 5 + balls of same yarn that filled 2+ huge bags. Was excited to gift to knitting friends who knit wonderful smaller projects and charity knitting. Not sure why I didn’t do it earlier.
You are such a sweet woman. I enjoy your podcasts so much. I love your comments about your mother. I lost my mom a year ago at 94. I miss her more every day. We took care of her full time for three years and then with the aid of Hospice at the end. We were so wrung out physically and emotionally by the time she passed that it took awhile before to grief set in. However, knowing about and believing in the resurrection comforted not only her but all of us. She’s just resting now after a long, fruitful life and I can’t wait to see her again.
This is soooo sweet.. I am sorry about your mother. You never ever get over it. Proof of a powerful bond. ♥ Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Dear Julie, how I admire you - while you were so composed talking about your mom tears ran down my cheeks! Of course people made your birthday so pleasent - you are such a likebel person! I'm looking forward to seeing all your project bags! ❤
Thank you so much! What nice things to say. I am composed now - but am a total weeper. I have cried and cried. I am working really hard now at just celebrating her and being with her. What a gift. ♥
Great podcast Julie! Thank you for updating us concerning your lovely mom. We shall continue to pray for her and for all of your family. I hope you are sitting down because you won’t believe that I am knitting The “Daily Pullover” as I watch this podcast. I’m not sure if it will fit me🙄, but it will fit someone! Thanks for another podcast full of great content. Loved every minute of it, especially the furry friends.❤
I would love an episode on which needles you love and why. So special for you to spend time with your mom. Each piece you knit while sitting with her will all become so special.
Thank you... I will do an episode on my needles as soon as I get over the embarassment of having so many! lol I am enjoying the time. The green sweater I will cherrish as she keeps touching it. I will never want to wash it.
I was so moved by your situation with your mom I even forgot to mention your birthday. I’m so glad you had such a great birthday. You look wonderful and you don’t even make 60 look like 50. Happy birthday dear Julie 🧶 🎉🎂🎈🎁
Julie I so enjoyed your podcast once again. The situation with your mom and your affection for the older cats. I lost my 20 year old two weeks ago . She was a two year old rescue when we got her. Hard to say goodbye but I’m sure there is another out there that needs me. I am looking forward to your bag review and maybe down the road you could do a review on how and where you store all these beautiful sweaters. Take care and keep podcasting .
Love your podcast. I too experienced my mother’s end of life. Hospice was my lifesaver as I’m sure you have found out. This is a very important and special part of life for all of your family. I had comfort in knowing my mother was going to be reunited with my father who was the love of her life. Sending prayers and strength to your family at this life changing time. 🙏🏻
My dear Julie I know this is a very hard time. There are no words to describe the feeling of loosing your mom, I lost mine last year, but you go on with this feeling in your heart that she will be with you in every thing you do and every time you look in the mirror you will know she is there with you, inside your heart and in the person you are today. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers and I hope you will get through this hard time with peace in your heart. 🙏🏼🤍
Hi Julie! I just wanted to say thank you for expressing your love of needles. I share this obsession! But I was feeling guilty as this is such an expensive craft. I was knitting a hat I really want, but I came to a point where the needle size wasn't working so I ordered a set. Well, I didn't like them. I have been wanting the knit picks Karbonz set for a while because I also live them. So now, thanks to you they will arrive today from Amazon and perhaps I can finish my hat! I love hearing about your relationship with your mom. I'm sending up prayers for her and those who love her.
Ohhhh yesssss. The Karbonz are good. A great all around needle that is afordable. Thank you for your comments on my sweet mom. I am sitting with her as we speak. She is such a beautiful person, I love being in her presence... even if she is asleep.♥
Thanks Julie for such lovely videos. My Mom didn’t wake up this past Christmas morning. 😢 I used to knit whenever I visited her and she would love looking at the different colours of stitch markers. I always make sure I never use the same colour stitch markers…..in honour of Mom.
Dear sweet Julie I appreciate you sharing about your mom. I just wanted you to know my sweet mama passed 22 years ago in her home under hospice care. My sister and I took turns caring for her for weeks. We also spent a lot of time together at her side. Our whole family was at her side as she crossed over. Although it wasn’t easy, emotionally or physically, I am so grateful for the time we had with her and I count it a privilege to have been able to care for her in her last few weeks of life. Your mom sounds like a very special lady and I will be praying for your family as you go through this. 🙏❤️🙏
when my Mom was passing my sibling were all able to laugh and talk about family(secrets!) so glad we were able to do that also was a christian and we will see her again
I'm so excited to see a Colorado knitting podcast!! I am from Loveland and still spend my summers there. I loved hearing you mention My Sister Knits and The Loopy Ewe, the stores I love to go to when I am there in the summer. I'm looking forward to going back and watching your past episodes. All the best for your mom and your family.
I am A new knitter. I have knit a tank top with truboo yarn . I love watching hearing everything that you make. You introduced me to is it Devan from Knitting Mc purely. I watch both of you and I am so happy I found you. I’ll have to tell you life story people say I should write a book.
Hi Julie! I always love your podcast. Happy Birthday! ❤ I turn 60 in January! I hope to meet you one day! I will drive up there. Colorado Springs isn’t that far. 🥰
Happy Birthday! Mine is the 24th. I will turn 63. I don’t feel that old (well my body does 😆). I know you are cherishing the time you have with your mom❤. I lost my mother when I was 53 and my dad when I was 45. I’m so glad you have your sister with you. My siblings and I helped each other get through the loss. It is lovely to know we will get to see them again. Prayers and hugs for you and your family.
No way, I'm making the Daily Pullover too! This is my 3rd or 4th project with linen quill--it's the yarn that I have used more than any other so far! Happy belated birthday from Wisconsin!
Wonderful! I have put mine in time out.... I do have to ask... does it stretch much when you block it b/c I think I may have made it too short. Not sure if I should rip out! BTW.. our 113 year old Jewelry business started in Spooner WI 1910. We went for a quick visit about 5 years ago and fell in love with the area. I would love to go back one day.
What a lovely podcast Julie. Light and love to your mom as she transitions. I wonder if you have a death doula for your mom. I love the cat section of the podcast. I’ll have to send you some pics of my 2 rescue mom/daughter pair. You mentioned that your birthday was yesterday. The 17th?? If so we’re bday twins 🎉!!! I spent my day reading and knitting-sometimes with a cat on my lap.
Awww Happy Birthday.. Mine is actually the 13th - be close enough. yes send me photos. We don't have a death doula. I will look into that. Thank you.. ♥
Happy birthday! My 60th birthday is tomorrow 😀 Colorwork mittens are great if they’re on a tight gauge because they are so warm. I’ve made the Shine Mittens by Sofia Capelle and love them. Thinking of your mom and your family during this difficult time.
I so enjoy your videos!!! You are great company while I knit 🧶 😊 What a wonderful birthday celebration!!! Belated happy birthday wishes to you🎉 Beth M S’s podcasts are great! I am 2 for 2 on purchasing patterns after watching. I also have a fit, athletic son who adores Chipotle (one Valentines Day he posted an ode to his “one true love”…….Chipotle lol) It was very touching listening to you speak of your mom; what a gift to be with her on this journey ❤
Thank you so much! I appreciate you comments. What is it about our boys and Chipotle ? I do have to ask if your Son wears Chipotle flip flops also? Yep - that crazy. LOL! Glad you found Beth to be a great podcast too. A true professional. Thank you for your words about my mother. So so sad. ♥
I loved when you said the sun went behind a cloud and then corrected yourself in the caption with the info that it was the solar eclipse! Too funny. We were hiking in southern Utah at the time and watched the eclipse happen with our kids. Very cool. Also, just wanted you to know that I’m thinking about you and your sister at this time with your mom. She’s so blessed to have daughters like the two of you!
Hi Julie, I was so excited to see your cute yak fibre tee! It’s so beautiful and I am knitting the A Bomnubble sweater in Reywa. I worked with Meli to get just the right colours and make sure I have enough yarn, etc. She is so kind and so helpful! I wish I was at that fibre festival with you! 🤭 I think we would have had fun in that booth together! Your tee is gorgeous!!! I love the colours you landed on. Thank you for another wonderful episode. I love your podcast - it’s fast becoming a favourite! Happy knitting with love from the Yukon! 🩵 Happy Birthday!
Made Daily Pullover over a year ago. I’ve just started knitting another after also being being inspired by Leslie Friend to knit in Kettle Black. I don’t do a provisional cast on for my neck as I find when using live stitches for knitting a neckline it stretches so I now do a cable cast on for necklines to give them more structure. I then pick up the neckline stitches from the cast on neck. Also, after reading so many comments in Ravelry on the Daily PuIlover, I omitted the back neck short rows as others commented they caused a bump at the back of the neck when the neckband was added. For the body bottom back short rows, I originally knit them and then ripped them out. So, then decided I did like the back body short rows and knit them again! Thinking of you and your mom. Thanks for another inspiring podcast!
I don't know why I am stuggling with that daily pullover. ARGH. I messed up the neckline/collar and had to put it aside. I don't think I have the brain capacity to finish it at the moment. Just frustrated b/c I think I made it too short as well. Good for you that you are on the second one. I enjoy fingering weight garments so much better than worsted... but I have the patience of a newt. lol.
Hi Julie, came across your podcast last week. Loved it. Started watching a few of your older episodes. In episode 2 you talked about where your viewers are from. Sadly, VT was one of the five states you mentioned that hadn’t commented or viewed. Well, maybe I’m not the first Vermonter to comment but you now can take the Green Mountain state off that list😁. Vacationed in your stunning state this summer. Absolutely love RMNP, green mountains on steroids 😂 Hoping to return next fall. Keep being you!
Thankyou for your kind words. I am sorry it took me so long to reply. I missed this one for some reason. I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos. I just uploaded a new one. Enjoy~
I and my siblings are also at this stage with our mother, who is in late stage dementia. She took such a big step down in early summer that we thought it would be a matter of days, but she’s still with us and her care is all consuming. She is receiving hospice care and has aids that come in to help. She lives in an apartment attached to my sister’s house, so my sister has the lion’s share of the care. I live several states away, but was there recently for a week to care for her and give my sister a break, and visit with her. So, I understand, and yes, you’re never ready. With dementia it’s a long goodbye. My dad died last year with Alzheimer’s and we know she’ll join him before long. I had hoped she would have a few good years after the difficulty of his care, but God has another plan. She has declined rapidly in the last year. They were blessed to live long together. Losing parents is like having your foundation pulled out from under you. I will keep your family in my prayers.
Hi Julie. Thought of so many things to say as you chatted, I hope this comment isn't too long. First, I lost my mom 7 1/2 years ago. I still have moments when something important happens that I think "I'll have to tell Mom that the next time I talk to her". But then I remember and I just offer some thoughts up to Heaven. Sending hugs and prayers to you, your mom, and sister. It sounds like your mom is ready which should be a comfort to you. Second, my husband is a 9-time Ironman. I understand when you said you can't imagine your husband's endurance. I always worried when he did his races because of the toll it took on his body. My husband is retired now because of he's had both shoulders replaced and doesn't have the range of motion required for swimming. Kudos to your husband for being on the Search and Rescue squad. Finally, I love that you are sharing what podcasts you watch. When I have a quiet Saturday or Sunday, I like to sit on the couch, knit, and watch podcasts. I'm always looking for new ones to watch. Thanks for sharing!!
So wonderful that your family has this time with your mum to ease her into the next world. You will treasure the memories. I keep hearing American podcasters talk about Parents Days at colleges. I don’t think Canadian universities have this tradition. At least I never heard of it at the universities that my children attended. Great idea! I love your new sweaters. Great yarn chicken on that very soft vest. I just finished a rainbow Flax sweater for my grandson’s 5th birthday next month and cast on one for his little sister. I am also doing the Stephen West MKAL but won’t have Clue 2 finished before Clue 3 drops tomorrow. I have busy times ahead, so I likely will fall even further behind. Sigh! I am happy with my colours this year and enjoying the design so far. I look forward to your podcasts, so please keep them coming! Thank you. 💜
Thank you for sharing Kathy. It is the training time they have to commit to to be athletes like that isn't it.. I can't imagine my world without my mom. Honestly... It will happen, but can't imagine. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Jennifer. Yes Americans do weird things.. because my kids really didn't care if we were there or NOT! lol. Sounds like you are super busy with knitting. Would love to see them when you are done..
I love watching you and amazed you can talk in to the camera as easily as if I were sitting there with you! It is comfortable, too. I am so sorry to hear about your mother and glad you are able to spend time with her. I learn so much from you and not just about knitting. You say you haven't been knitting very long but you are eons ahead of me! I need to find time to put toward these skills. It is a good feeling to see the end results especially when you are "winging it"! Keep making podcasts!!!
Thank you... I have been knitting for a good 6 years.. I think. So that is a long time, but not as long as somepeople. I am just determined and I enjoy the product. If I could not wear the result, it would be a different story for me. I love sweaters.
I just finished the Basic Pullover using linen quill & LOVED it… made a few modifications with sleeves and length… the fabric is great after blocking. I ordered more yarn for another 🤗
Hiya Julie! lovely episode. both my parents are gone and i know the stress and worry that come with that. be grateful for your time. terrific makes. its hard to believe that you are new to knitting. i would love to be adept at it as you. heck, im still trying to accomplish the long tail cast on! btw, i did make it to estes park 1 month ago. still love the town! xoxo
I am sure you never get used to being without them. That is probably a good thing... it means there was a bond that is worth missing. Glad you enjoyed Estes. It is a gem.
Bless your lovely mom, enjoy these special days with her. You will treasure this. I found a fun podcast called Knitting Under the Influence. She is hillarious.
Yes I do make multiple projects for a pattern i enjoyed and loved the end result of! most defiantly!... And How adorable the little hat your making you inspired me to look up a pattern!!! I found a free pattern "Bright Hats and Mitts Garland by Scarlet Taylor" I am planning on doing them in the 2 circular needle method since i don't like magic loop nor do i work with dpns. i will be making a mini hat ornament for both myself and my best friend! Thank you for the idea!!! Also Chiagoo have a mini interchangeable shorty needles set that goes from 0 (2.0mm) , 1 (2.25mm) , 1.5 (2.5mm) , 2 (2.75mm) 2.5 (3.0mm) 3 (3.25mm) incase you need or are looking for other smaller size options
Yes to ripping out and starting over! I am the same. If I don't like it, or something is bothersome, I know I won't wear it. Why keep going. It's just knitting and I love knitting... so starting something over isn't too much of a big deal.
Very special that you are able to spend regular time with your mom without being the primary caregiver 24-7. A gift! Wondering if your husband has ever run the Waldo 100 (in oregon)? it's "only" 100k, but a pretty hard one. I have done medical support for that race for a bunch of years. Very well done, with an excellent dinner for runners and volunteers no matter what time you get in =)
Way to volunteer. I am not there yet. I am too stingy with my free time. lol. I like to go, but I find a spot to knit. I will ask him about the race. I would love to come to Oregon.
I usually feel like I have one of the best volunteer spots at the race, on top of the last big mountain, 10 miles from the end of the race. all the locations I've worked have been a lot of fun. Definitely a great ultra according to the runners. You and your husband would have a blast.@@TheKnittyKats
All my best wishes for the new year circle starting in your life, dear Julie. I again enjoyed your podcast very much, as has been the case from episode one. Also, I'm very much looking forward to the episode you announced where you will put a focus on bags. Just two days ago a German podcaster released an episode in which she did a book review and the book featured a whole bunch of amazingly adorable bags which inspired me greatly to give it a try and knit a bag myself which I never did before. Perhaps I can send you some pictures, as I also plan to send you a photo of our beloved cat Josie. You look great in your white sweater paired with the denim blouse. My prayers go out on behalf of your mother and everyone who supports her. Your knitting friend from Germany.
Happy Birthday!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful and very blessed celebration. Sending prayers for your mom and your family. It's very hard losing family, but especially your parents. Nothing you do can ever prepare you for it. My mom and I would get so excited when sharing new knitting patterns and ideas. She has been gone 3 yrs and I miss her so much. She was born in CO, and I still have family members throughout the state (two in Ft. Collins) Your sweaters are really beautiful. I like your mini hats, so cute! I rarely use double pointed needles, because it seems like my stitches slide off the needle. Maybe I'm just not holding them correctly? Do you have any tips as far as keeping my stitches on the needles? Oh my gosh! Sal's sweaters were adorable. Lol...I cannot imagine mine keeping a sweater on. I adore cats, especially my orange cats. I have 9, and 4 are orange. The only indoor kitty is my oldest ginger. He'll be 18 in March, so he's retired from barn cat life...lol! I live rural, and we haven't any yarn shops or knitting groups so I love to watch and see what others are making on youtube. I really enjoy your podcasts because it's like sitting down with a friend. I'm looking forward to your next one. Take care!
Cheryl, I just noticed your name is also Knitty Kat. I thought I was so original. It is actually the name of my knitting room. lol. Thank you for the birthday wishes and beautiful comments. You are living the dream with 9 kitties. Wonderful. I have not mastered double points. I seem to do okay on them in larger sizes and with wood. The metal are too slick for me. Lucky you to leave rural. I think I would love that. Out of the rat race! Cheers and blessings to you.
Yes! I named my etsy shop because the name Knitty Kat was already taken. So, I added "studio" which kinda worked out. Yeah, I guess I need a bit more practice with dpn's....lol. I've taught myself to knit though, so I CAN do it 😂 Take care and happy knitting!
I'd suggest you sit in dappled shade if you want to be outside. Can't see any detail on the white sweater, and you look uncomfortable in that bright sun light.
Great suggestion. I thought the sun would be great for the sweater... not so. It was only 50 degrees so I was trying to stay warm too! I won't do that again. Thank you for the feedback.
Oh, one more thing, please don’t sit looking into the sun like you did this podcast. It’s not good for your eyes and it’s painful to watch. Also, all the colors are blown out. Be safe!
Yes.. I need to work on this. Filming outside is taking some practice for me. I started in the shade but it was very cold as we had been close to freezing hours earlier. So I moved to part shade - it was shadowy - then Full sun! LOL I will work on making it better for sure. I appreciate the feeback. ALWAYS!
Hi Julie! Thanks for mentioning me. I am so happy you like the yarn and grateful you purchased from me! I can't wait to see what you make. Thank you for sharing about your mom. Happy birthday!
Thank you. You are welcome. Thank you for my yarn. 🙌🏻
Your words of wisdome and comfort are much appreciated. I am so sorry about your husband.
Hi Julie, I just love you so much. you are such a blessing. I just feel so good when I watch your podcast. I have a few more to watch.
You are so sweet and very informative
Thank you so much!
I brought my mom home on Hospice but the damage was done at the facility where she was living. You did the right thing. It is a precious time.❤
THis makes me so sad. I am very sorry.
Your mom sounds wonderful. It is amazing the gifts that they have given us to keep them close ....always. ♥
Julie,
Happy 60th Birthday!🎉❤. Sending up prayers for your mother and your family. It is so difficult to say goodbye to parents that have been amazing people in your life. I am 57 and lost my father at age 32 and my mother in 2016. The separation is so difficult. Sending you a big hug.
Thank you Very Very much. It is so hard.
Such an uplifting and delightful time spent with you. 😊
I'm so glad! Thank you Wendy! ♥
Thank you so much! I am sorry for your loss. I am not sure what a world is like without your mom.
Sending prayers to your Mom, your family and all the care givers and doctors that help her.
Loved seeing the kitty in the background.
I also loved the two vest patterns that you showed.
Take care and I'll see you next time.
Thank you... we all share the same loves. ♥
YES! I need a photo of Freddie.
@@TheKnittyKats I sent it to your email did you receive it?
Enjoy your Mom time. I lost mine nearly 60 years ago. Your episodes are charming. I love when knitters put on music and just knit for a few minutes.
Barb, that is a long time to be without your mother. Oh my. I don't know what I will do.... but somehow, I know I will make it. Thank you for your kind comments. ♥
Happy belated birthday. How wonderful that you got to spend time with your mom. Thank you for another beautiful video.
You are so welcome!
Happy Birthday! I had my 60th this year also. Glad you could spend it with your mother. Prayers for you and your family during this journey.
Thank you so much! There are so many of us at the same stage of our lives.
I enjoyed your episode as usual! I’m so sorry about your mom. I’ve been there with both of my parents. Hospice workers are angels. God bless you!
Thank you so much! Hospice is that exactly.
Oh I am glad that you found the podcast... YES - I am glad you have a new friend in me! Thank you for watching.
Much love to you and your family ❤ we lost our grandma in 2019 due to dementia and I totally understand since she lived with us a few years. I also wanted to wish you a happy birthday since you had a lovely day ❤ much love to your mom
Thank you very much. I am so sorry about your grandma.
So true! Thank you for commenting and watching.
Love the cat pictures! 🐈🧶🧶🧶
Yeah!
Blessings to you and your sister. I lost my dad in 1993 and my mom in 2001. It is hard but since she knows where she is going, what joy when she sees the face of Jesus!
Thank you. Yes... pure Joy to be in our saviors presence. ♥
Enjoy your podcast so much. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Sending good wishes to you and your family Julie. ❤❤
Thank you so much!
Thank you Darlene. Your words are comforting and true. We love our mothers and would do anything for them. Treasured in every way. ♥♥
Yet again a very enjoyable podcast at a very difficult time for me. Thank you.
Thank you... I am sorry about your diffiult time. Sending hugs... ♥
Oh wow! You are soooo good to give away your yarn. I bet your friends are grateful.
So wonderful that you have this very sacred, special time with your Mom! Sending love and prayers to you, Deb, and the whole family. 💟
Thank you Dora. ♥♥
I did burst out laughing! That is hilarious. I hope beautiful Katie Leib slides her body into that pullover. ♥ What color are you knitting?
@@TheKnittyKats A lovely robin’s egg blue. I believe I may need to frog and go up a size larger, but I am learning a lot…..possibly🙄
That sounds so pretty. That is my mom's fav color.
Needles are a personal preference item. What someone else likes, might not be a great choice for you. Best of luck finding needles you enjoy.
so true. I think I just like buying them. lol
I was so moved by your situation with your mom I even forgot to mention your birthday. I’m so glad you had such a great birthday. You look wonderful and you don’t even make 60 look like 50. Happy birthday dear Julie 🧶 🎉🎂🎈🎁
Thank you so much! You are sooooo sweet.
Thank you! The bag review will be fun. Storing my sweaters... argh. They are everywhere! lol
Lovely podcast. Thank you so much. So sorry to hear about your Mom.
Thank you.. ♥
Happy Birthday dear - love this podcast! Thank you for your time and wonderful links!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for sharing!! Yes, it is an honor to be with her now.
Great podcast! Thank you
Thank you very much for watching 🐈🧶❤️
My dear Julie I know this is a very hard time. There are no words to describe the feeling of loosing your mom, I lost mine last year, but you go on with this feeling in your heart that she will be with you in every thing you do and every time you look in the mirror you will know she is there with you, inside your heart and in the person you are today. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers and I hope you will get through this hard time with peace in your heart. 🙏🏼🤍
Thank you. What truthful and though out words you have sent me. Thank you... ♥♥
Oh no! I can't imagine... but a peaceful ending is what we all pray for. I am so sorry.
Thank you. It is an honor for sure.
I think you’ve helped me be more comfortable with frogging and restarting a project. ❤❤
Oh good!
It was nice to hang out with you while I did some finishing work on old whips. It’s my goal for this Fall to clear my needles.
Oh hooray. What a great feeling.
when my Mom was passing my sibling were all able to laugh and talk about family(secrets!) so glad we were able to do that also was a christian and we will see her again
What a blessing. Isn't it wonderful that our goodbye will not be forever?
So enjoyed your podcast. Wishing you a beautiful day and enjoy your days with your Mom. Lost my Mom 3 years ago.
Sorry to hear that, we are never ready. I am dreading it.
Wonderful! I am glad you bring you home every month!! It is a beautiful place.
Happy BIrthday! Glad you had a great day!
I did! Thank you.

I love watching hearing everything that you make. You introduced me to is it Devan from Knitting Mc purely. I watch both of you and I am so happy I found you. I’ll have to tell you life story people say I should write a book.
Love your podcast. Thank you for sharing. My 4 sisters and I are caregivers for our mom also, loving the time with her. Happy Belated Birthday 🎂.
Thank you! YEs, it is funny how this time is a gift isn't it? Not a chore by any means, an honor. ♥
Hi Julie! I always love your podcast. Happy Birthday! ❤ I turn 60 in January! I hope to meet you one day! I will drive up there. Colorado Springs isn’t that far. 🥰
I hope so too! That would be fun!
Happy Birthday! It sounds like it was a wonderful day! I think a bag collection / review is a great idea! We all have our go to bags/styles
Yes! Thank you! It will be fun.
It is a difficult time for sure ♥ Thank you for your prayers and hugs. I will take them.
@@TheKnittyKats It did not stretch much at all. I also made mine too short, haha. Onto other things before I come back to it.
So sorry to hear about your mom. 😢 Enjoy what moments to have left
Thank you.. We sure are. ♥
Happy birthday! I hope it was a great day. We are only getting better.
I so enjoy your videos!!! You are great company while I knit 🧶 😊
What a wonderful birthday celebration!!! Belated happy birthday wishes to you🎉
Beth M S’s podcasts are great! I am 2 for 2 on purchasing patterns after watching. I also have a fit, athletic son who adores Chipotle (one Valentines Day he posted an ode to his “one true love”…….Chipotle lol)
It was very touching listening to you speak of your mom; what a gift to be with her on this journey ❤
So so sad. ♥
Happy belated birthday! Great podcast as usual.
Thanks so much!
I know.. What a dork! I missed the whole Eclipse. Glad you saw it! Thank you for the thoughts for my mom. We have the best mom ever. ♥
Happy belated birthday 🥳🎂❤
Oh thank you very much!!!
Also, my children participate in orienteering here in the Yukon. We love it! It’s such fun.
That is Soooo cool. The yarn is amazing. I will WEAR that vest/tee. Such a fast knit and a good use of yarn. Meli was the best.
What a great skill for them to learn! Good for you in getting them OUTSIDE.
Enjoy~
I made a scarf from Yak, its lovely to wear, soft and cozy. 😊
That's a great idea! I am buying more for sure.... one day.
@@TheKnittyKats It's a little like knitting with cotton, not as bouncy like wool...but so warm and soft.
Happy birthday!
Thank you.
I am so sorry. It is soooooo hard. Thank you for sharing.
Hugs from the UK.
Thank you. I will take them. ♥
I made 2 Flux cowls with Devin's yarn already & 2 more skeins are out for delivery today!
Oh my. Are they awesome. I have mine in the needles
They are perfect!@@TheKnittyKats
I ordered more yarn for another 🤗
Wonderful! What color did you make? There are so MANY to choose from.
@@TheKnittyKats I used Raw Sienna. Just ordered the black.. I do love the green you choose though.. maybe a third 🤗
Yes. I need to make black too.
Hiya Julie! lovely episode. both my parents are gone and i know the stress and worry that come with that. be grateful for your time. terrific makes. its hard to believe that you are new to knitting. i would love to be adept at it as you. heck, im still trying to accomplish the long tail cast on! btw, i did make it to estes park 1 month ago. still love the town! xoxo
I am sure you never get used to being without them. That is probably a good thing... it means there was a bond that is worth missing. Glad you enjoyed Estes. It is a gem.
Bless your lovely mom, enjoy these special days with her. You will treasure this. I found
a fun podcast called Knitting Under the Influence. She is hillarious.
Thank you for the blessing. She is worth it. I am going to check out that podcast. sounds great
Yes I do make multiple projects for a pattern i enjoyed and loved the end result of! most defiantly!...
Ohhh share your mini hats when you are done! I do have the mini sets, but the hats are very small....argh
Yes to ripping out and starting over! I am the same. If I don't like it, or something is bothersome, I know I won't wear it. Why keep going. It's just knitting and I love knitting... so starting something over isn't too much of a big deal.
Exactly!!
Happy Birthday
Thank you.
It sounds magical. I am going to suggest it. BTW. he told me the races were 100K not 100Miles. Oops. They sound equally impossible. lol
@@TheKnittyKats There Are a number of 100 milers, and you are right-for us normal humans they both sound impossibly long, haha!
Oh Sweet Josie. Thank you so much. You say the nicest things... yes.. send me photos.
My sister and I are heading out to CO from AR to visit my brother.
They will love it.
I am thinking of your family in the very difficult time. ❤
I appreciate that Thank you. ♥
What does one do with the iron water after dyeing? 🤔
I was told to put pour in on the ground away from pets and wild life. Kinda nervous I kept sticking my hands in it!!! eeek...
hi i think you might like the podcast 'unwind and knit with me' Lisa is a fellow kiwi and has a husband who does endurance running too.
Ohhh I am sure I would. I will check it out. Thank you....
ALWAYS!
