I worked at a subway: the workers aren't cutting the jalapenos, they come pre-cut in bags. So, it makes sense they would all have similar number of stems. Gus needs to get his hands on one of the bags of them and see what percent are stems.
Pre-cut? What kind of lazy trash corner-cutting junk fast food is Subway?
It takes like 5 seconds to cut them, and they'll taste much better.
@@MrLoowiz pretty much everything from subway came pre-cut in bags. Slicing the tomatoes and baking the frozen bread were basically the only prep we had to do. Maybe bell papers too. I never worked morning shift though so I never really made anything besides bread.

How much you want to bet a Subway executive ends up watching this and the only thing they end up saying. "They are putting way to many jalapeños on those sandwiches, that's a waste of valuable ingredients". Completely ignoring the Stem issue.
When I worked at a subway I got in trouble by the inspector for putting 10 jalapenos and 5 tomato's on a footlong, I looked at her and laughed.

Dictismit then I’m surprised he thinks the employees cut them themselves lmao 1) they’re clearly pickled which is why they’re wet and 2) that would be extremely time consuming considering how many containers of jalapeños are used every day. sometimes we’d go through like 4 or 6 cambros of jalapeños in a shift. that’s gotta he at least 100 jalapeños, no one has time for that. The pickles aren’t fresh either, neither are the banana peppers lol
Hey Subway employee here, I know I'm late, but figured I'd put my two cents in. At least where I work, the peppers come pre cut, and are dumped into metal tins, we typically don't notice them then. But on the line, we literally grab them with our hands, and myself as well as everyone I work with, if we grab a stem from a hot pepper, or even a banana pepper, we throw them out and continue making the sub. Just wanted people to know that not every Subway employee is incompetent.
To be fair, it's not really your fault if it's precut. The easiest step of the process to cut out stems is when cutting the jalapeno. Once it's mixed up, how are you supposed to find it

@@darrengarcia4937 as an ex-subway employee who does not eat hot peppers... I had NO idea that this was even an issue. I didn't know what the stems of jalapenos looked like, and I was NOT getting paid enough to learn. That's not my job - I did however cut tomatoes, and while cutting them was taught to remove the end pieces. Just like the jalapeno supplier should have been doing.
Subway: We are incredibly sorry and we will make sure that this never happens again. Not a single sandwich should be without stem.

I'm very proud to say that I work at a pizza place in Massachusetts where we have jalapeños as an option and thanks to this video I consciously avoid the stems whenever I put jalapeños or banana peppers on a pizza. I'm doing my part!

Whenever I see scenes like this 1:40 I always think about how the person has to awkwardly walk back and pick up their camera off the floor
this seriously is like those word problems in math;
gus johnson bought 20 sandwiches with jalapenos, 5% of the total sandwiches have no jalapenos stems but the other 95% do. he found an intotal of 50 stems across the total amount of sandwiches.
a) find the ratio and amount per sandwich of stems.
b) calculate the amount of sandwiches which have stems if gus bought 50 sandwiches instead of 20 sandwiches.
c) find out why i spent like 10 minutes making a math word problem.

I work at a subway as a weekend job, the peppers aren't cut by the employees, the come pre cut in a large bag. Also if you only ask for jalepenos it is highly likely that they will put on some more than usual.
But i agree there shouldn't be any stems in there and when i see one while making someones sandwich ill instead throw it away.

Number 15: Subway Jalapeno Stems. The last thing you'd want in your Subway sandwich is someone's jalapeno stems, but as it turns out, that might be what you get. A 4 channer uploaded a photo, anonymously, to the site, showcasing his jalapeno stems in someone's sandwich, with the statement, "This is the jalapenos you eat at Subway". Admittedly, there were also jalapenos without stems, but that's even worse. The post went live at 11:38 pm on July 16th, and a mere 20 minutes later, the Subway in question was alerted to the rouge employee, at least, I hope he's rogue. How did it happen? Well the Subway employee hadn't removed the exif data from the uploaded photo which suggested the culprit was somewhere in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. This was at 11:47. Three minutes later at 11:50, the Subway branch address was posted with wishes of happy unemployment. Five minutes later, the news station was contacted by another 4 channer, and 3 minutes later, at 11:58, a link was posted. Subway's tell us about it online form, otherwise known as exhibit a was attached. Cleveland scene magazine contacted the Subway in question the next day. When questioned, the breakfast shift manager said, "Oh, I know who that is. He's getting fired". Mystery solved by 4 chan. Now we can all go back to eating out fast food in peace.

The Jalapenos come prepacked in a bag to every subway. This does not excuse the people making your sandwich for not taking them off, but it does explain why there is consistently stems.

That's what I was gonna say. No way in hell they cut those by order. The amount of jalapenos you guys are putting on each sandwich looks to be around 2 whole peppers which would mean 2 stems per sandwich. The average stem count from this experiment is 2.65 stems per sandwich, so its not too crazy. Entertaining video though.

I worked at subway for 2 years and we don’t cut jalapeños ever they come in bags and I would go through them when I got bored and threw away the stems one time they had 49 stems in one bag 🤢

Should have bought 1 full Jalapeño and gotten the weight of the Jalapeño, one average stem, and one average body. Then weigh all the Jalapeño pieces from the sandwich and all the stem pieces for the sandwich. You might have been able to actually prove that the Jalapeño distributor was inserting EXTRA stems into their product and ripping off Subway across the country. So we know from the comments they come pre-sliced in bags. More than likely, the distributor has a stemless bag option and all the removed stems are going into the shitty stem-filled bags, making it twice as many stems as there should be. I doubt anyone is ripping off Subway, they are just choosing the cheaper option with twice as many stems because money.

i worked at subway for 2 years, this isn’t on us they come to us like that. i personally tried to throw those out when putting them on a sub but like it’s not on the workers lol

Take any word and keep saying it over and over. It doesn't take long for it to break in your brain and lose all meaning.
Not for being a party pooper, but it is a real phenomenon called 'Jamais vu' - you can look it up. It is basically the opposite of Deja vu.
It is more or less the feeling of experiencing something for the first time, even though you know you've experienced it multiple times - most easy example is saying a word over and over again, whereafter it suddenly loses meaning and you wonder if it even is a real word anymore.

i worked at subway we have packed jalapeños so no control of how the jalapeños are
