The platform yes but most of the movies are very low budget. But it was more of sarcasm not judgement. It’s very hard to put together a film and I commend anyone who is trying to and who has done it.
The best camera out hands down a lot of people keep saying a entry camera and I’ve shot on the Venice this is very very capable lol but I guess it’s just popular to say
Good point and maybe that's it, but who knows. Really at the end of the day, it doesn't matter much. Really just wanted to give the FX30 a great camera for most. It still can produce some great images especially with light. I appreciate your feedback and you stopping by! 😃
Stop the confusion. The Netflix-approved cameras are for filmmakers who are commissioned to produce a Netflix Original movie or series. If your content is good, it will get licensed. FYI: Tubi is paying better than everyone. A successful Tubi director (Dennis Reed) said Netflix offered to license one of his productions for $120k for 10 years and he told them to f off. Netflix ain’t the holy grail unless you’re established without em.
People give this camera a lot of shit and i can see why as i have it and can see the issues but its a camera that makes you better as a filmmaker. You have to learn index exposure and work around it. If you get this camera, you're gonna needs lights or a gaffer with lighting. Probably gonna need neat video. super 35 has certain limitations to it just like super 16mm film did but loads of blockbusters were shot on that format/super 35 and loads still are. There's stuff all over streaming services with terrible noise performance in the shadows. As long as the colors are pleasing and theres good detail in the image, and the story is good sensor size doenst matter all thst much. Yes this camera lacks internal time code, false color and shutter angle but using the double frame rate rule gets you around the shutter angle problem, most field monitors have false color and a few hundred dollars gets you a time code system that works with this camera. Also the rolling shutter isnt nearly as bad as people say it is on this camera. The fx30 is great for filmmakers on a budget
If you’re going to take videography/cinematography seriously you’re going to need a gaffer. Relying on low light is very amature, it’s never going to look high budget.
@@cubswincubswinao well aware of that since but sometimes the budget doesn't allow for one. I'm building my own lighting kit out but that's an automatic dude
The FX30 doesn't excel at anything like the FX3 does, while lacking the same "cinema" features actual cinema cameras have, like false color, waveform, shutter angle, internal NDs and internal RAW. The FX30 doesn't have the same excellent rolling shutter performance or dynamic range as the FX3 to make up for that.
Yes good points but is having the FX3 really worth double ? For those using any sort of decent monitor, all those mentioned features such as false color, waveform can be obtained easily. As far as the FX3 goes it still lacks a lot as you've mentioned to be really considered a "Cinema Camera"
Sony label that camera in ( cinema Line ) just for marketing ! Nothing on that camera is great for a cinema production , fx3 is the same ! It’s just marketing
Tubi is awesome!

I have sonny fx30 and its Netflix approved.
How so? Did they update the list of approved cameras ?
Its not, but fx3 is.

I agree it’s a massively underrated camera.
honestly I think it comes down to internal timecode. idk. it's maddening trying to figure out why some are approved and some are not

Neil, good video.
Thank you so much 😊
Shutter angle is coming
Yes ! Finally ! Well later this year lol
Netflix is not going to reject your film based on the camera it was shot on. The approved list is only for films produced by Netflix.
facts
Yes, that's what I stated in the video.

None of that matters anyway if your film sucks lol. Simple.
