Recently sold my FX3 because I've been using the FX30 way more often. It's an unbelievably good camera. Paired with the Sony 16-55G, it's an absolute BEAST.
I had been using the Sigma 16mm f1.4 on a ZV-E10, but found even that wasn't always wide enough in my small studio. A few weeks ago I upgraded to the FX30, and have been super impressed with it! I did get the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 at the same time, and it has become my new favorite lens.
I love my fx30 just bought it last month with the xlr handle definitely Worth it for me as I shoot a lot of client work and need a light powerful setup. Next one A7IV for photos when I do concerts
That's the pairing I am considering getting FX30 for videos/live streaming/video podcast, and then A7IV for photos and could also use for 2nd video if needed.
Great choice I have both the FX-30 and A7iv. In 24 fps the A7iv is just better but the ergonomics, button layout, internal fan and tally lights make me only want to shoot with the FX-30. Its amazing
I love this camera! It is such a solid piece of kit! I also love taking it out for phot shoots. I don't even miss the burst option, because it's so smooth!
I've seen a lot of reviews and comparisons of the FX30 and man, I think this is the last one I'll see because you just answered a lot of the doubts and questions I had. Thank you so much! I will be purchasing this camera in the near future.
Thanks for the video! I bought the FX30 late last year as simply a fun camera to have and maybe an occasional B-cam. But, it has become my go-to cam. The only thing I miss from a larger FX6 or FX9 is the variable ND, but I figure that's a fair trade off for $1800! FYI, the camera with all the new accessories (extra batteries, chargers, cage, matte box, ND filters, etc.) paid for themselves within a few weeks. The low price point and quick return on investment justified me to buy a couple of new lenses -- which also paid for themselves super quick.
I just brought the Sony FX30 from abroad for under a grand & tax free. At this price, I can live with it's cons. I've since upgraded the firmware to 4.0.
Good video. I’d love this camera but I sorry about noise. Then I’d say well I’ll grab an a7c2 or zve1 but worry about heat 🥵 so now I’m Paralyzed and have none 😢
I've shot SLOG-3 with a full frame A7RV and there is still noise. If you shoot in normal video mode (not SLOG-3) then the noise disappears if shot around ISO100 - 400. Or you can shoot SLOG and then apply a bit of noise reduction in post. It's really not a big issue.
Nice review! Love mine, it is really just a webcam for live streams, in to vMix. Our streams can go 4+ hours, and it has never shut itself off from heat, unlike her hybrid brothers, the A7/III and A7/IV. I run this in to a 4k/60 NDI encoder from Kiloview, and it routinely tells me I am pushing 250 Mbps, gorgeous Sony video across the 10 GbE network. Only a few ms latency. Would be fun to rig this one out, but it just sits on a tripod! Agreed on the full HDMI port, I really, really wish Panasonic would pay some attention.
yes it worth it. If you're a video first type of shooter. It's pretty close to the perfect camera for content creators, musician who want to record themself. And it use full in proper video production. It's not created for photos in the first place if one keeps that in mind it's a great camera at this price point.
I am looking to add this to a line up of A7S II cameras. So for low light I'll probably use those as the A-cameras. But this sounds like my new flagship camera for everything else. Thanks for the helpful video.
@@BSN_100 Yes, except for rigging. I film concerts and clubs a lot. So I should have mentioned my perspective. Concert halls and clubs have drunk people. I rather lose a fx30 to a spilled drink over a a7siii.

Question. (I'm very new to all this). In regards to the first con listed, what does he mean by "noise" when recording his black shirt? Should the color look deeper than what is shown pre-post? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
I feel like 6400 is still pretty usable, it is a little noisy but then again the a7 IV second base is 3200 so 6400 will be noisy on that also even though it is a lot less noise

Nice vid, but you were incorrect when you said the FX-30 is a "Netflix approved" camera. The FX-30 is NOT a "Netflix approved" camera as of today which is August 9, 2024.
