- Is the Sony FX30 still worth it in 2024?
The Sony FX30 is jam packed with a ton of features that you don't see in other cameras. The Sony FX30 for the price, is one of the best cameras you can buy right now if you do any video work. I truly think this is the best budget cinema cameras you can buy.

What do you want to know about the FX30?
*Do you use Adobe PP to export an edit? I have noticed that with Higher codec Adobe is unable to decode this unless I get some codec on-line. Have you had any issues doing this?*
Hey Stefano! Is it really Netflix approved? I thought only the FX3 was actually approved by Netflix
@@calebkozlowski yes it’s Netflix approved
Fx 30 is also Netflix approved ❤
Make a video on autofocus settings for FX 30.
The FX30 is underrated and such a good camera!
It truly is such a good camera!
I love my FX30. Once you get to use to slog and lutz editing becomes fun when color grading.
Hands down best video I've seen on this camera yet. Great work!
Amazing, super helpful. Thank you!!
FX30 is a beast. I have the a7siii and the fx30 has become my A cam pretty much.
Isn't the A7siii just better than the fx30 in like almost all situations though?
@@BSN_100 Yes, except for rigging. I film concerts and clubs a lot. So I should have mentioned my perspective. Concert halls and clubs have drunk people. I rather lose a fx30 to a spilled drink over a a7siii.
I had been using the Sigma 16mm f1.4 on a ZV-E10, but found even that wasn't always wide enough in my small studio. A few weeks ago I upgraded to the FX30, and have been super impressed with it! I did get the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 at the same time, and it has become my new favorite lens.
I love this camera! It is such a solid piece of kit! I also love taking it out for phot shoots. I don't even miss the burst option, because it's so smooth!
I love my fx30 just bought it last month with the xlr handle definitely Worth it for me as I shoot a lot of client work and need a light powerful setup. Next one A7IV for photos when I do concerts
I think you made a great purchase! I love mine and like I said, it didn't take long to change from my b-cam to my a-cam
Your video is great the pics they are amazing you doing very good job I love your work😍👏👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good info 🔥
Good information sir...thanks
Welcome
Very interesting video great job😍👏🔥🔥🔥
Glad you enjoyed
Just a small correction, the fx30 is not netflix approved. Youre mixing it up with the fx3.
hey why the sensor is bit tilted is it okay?
Thanks for the video! I bought the FX30 late last year as simply a fun camera to have and maybe an occasional B-cam. But, it has become my go-to cam. The only thing I miss from a larger FX6 or FX9 is the variable ND, but I figure that's a fair trade off for $1800! FYI, the camera with all the new accessories (extra batteries, chargers, cage, matte box, ND filters, etc.) paid for themselves within a few weeks. The low price point and quick return on investment justified me to buy a couple of new lenses -- which also paid for themselves super quick.
I have fx30 but I would've gone for panasonic s5ii if it existed back then
why?
I am about to get into cinematography and filmmaking, should I go for this?
Good video. I’d love this camera but I sorry about noise. Then I’d say well I’ll grab an a7c2 or zve1 but worry about heat 🥵 so now I’m
Paralyzed and have none 😢
I've shot SLOG-3 with a full frame A7RV and there is still noise. If you shoot in normal video mode (not SLOG-3) then the noise disappears if shot around ISO100 - 400. Or you can shoot SLOG and then apply a bit of noise reduction in post. It's really not a big issue.
to me the only con is second BASE ISO 2500 is pretty much useless, at least give us 6400~
I just brought the Sony FX30 from abroad for under a grand & tax free. At this price, I can live with it's cons. I've since upgraded the firmware to 4.0.
where did you find one for a deal this good?
@@kolbymeyer27 Hong Kong
@@MsNIKITA do you have a link or something?
@@kolbymeyer27 No... i was visiting HK shopping trip.
from where do u get it
Great option! Great value🔥
It really is!
What about trying to use the LCD screen in sunlight, how difficult is it considering Sony's screens are not the best?
Never found it difficult, I have the brightness set to "sunny weather" and it's bright! Same thing on my A7IV!
yes it worth it. If you're a video first type of shooter. It's pretty close to the perfect camera for content creators, musician who want to record themself. And it use full in proper video production. It's not created for photos in the first place if one keeps that in mind it's a great camera at this price point.
We literally have the same exact camera gear lol. From the FX30 to the sigma lenses! Loved this vid bro! Will ask, I have also have the 16mm f1.4 sigma lens and I'm thinking of getting my first Sony lens in the 15mm f1.4 lens. Would you suggest I get that lens or just hold on to my sigma lens?
imo the lack of a viewfinder is a non-starter.
catalyst browse is painful to use
Well don't then. Use gyroflow.
These are okay as a B cam to my F55. Good cams for folks on a tight budget.
stop flexing-no one cares about your F55
@@mosijahi3096 whoa big guy.. calm down. No one said it was bad. You feeling a little inadequate?
Game changer, game changer, game changer…
game changer
This camera is not Netflix approved.

Technically, you're right, but I checked the specs (included above) and the fx30 has all the same specs required.
It's Netflix approved sir... don't worry 👍
Even Netflix don't follow their "Netflix approved" list. According to them Video needs to "acceptable quality" which they analyze when you submit the video through agents. Netflix themselves have said that.
Why does this matter? Are you shooting a Netflix movie? If so, you probably have the budget for a higher end camera. Netflix approved doesn't really mean anything
Cool! Because all of us are dropping Netflix content. 🤡
FX30 owner here, I would recommend the S5ii.
The S5ii is also a great camera! That being said, I have friends who own it and the autofocus isn't as reliable and doesn't track as good
@@StefanoLombardoYT It's true, my ZV-E10 had better autofocus than the S5 IIX. That's why I ended up returning it. I know that an update has come out now, we have to see if it really improves something.
My FX30 is my A Cam, A7III B Cam, Photo Camera.
I hope sony gives us false color and 3:2 opengate. That will be the ultimate deal for anyone.
I decided to buy a used SonyA7SIII for the same price as a new FX30... did I make a mistake? 🤣The only bummer is not having LUT support 🥲.
I don't think that is a mistake, just remember that full frame lenses tend to be bigger and more expensive than aps-c lenses.
