    Back in 1974 a automatic garage put a 161holden motor into my series2 Land Rover. Same garage was putting a Valiant 245 connected to a Dodge Phoenix automatic into a series 2 Land Rover . This set up was way ahead of its time .

    Just be weary about the fact that you have been told the timing chain has been replaced. These do not often need to be replaced, it is an interference engine, so check the piston tops with a scope perhaps. Then the other question is has the fitter set up the cam timing correctly. I would try and speak with the guy that did the work if at all possible. An aftermarket option is replacing the gear pump gears with billet gears. They can shatter with manuals, with abusive driving. You seem like a nice guy, don't get dropped off.

    Don't use a strong rattle gun when doing up flexplate/flywheel bolts, as you can spread the holes in the crankshaft and distort the outside of the crankshaft into a flower shape where the rear main seal runs.

    Awesome project mate, can you give some insight into the process of getting it engineered. How much thought did you have to put in before starting to ensure it will be able to certified?

    • @DesignedandBuilt
      @DesignedandBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, my advice is to engage an engineer early in the build, treat them well and ask for advice/considerations before you start. I put a bit of thought into getting it certified and it’s not too bad.

      I had a BA xr6 turbo, as soon as I started trying to get more power, I got valve float. Maybe they fixed it in the FG. But even I know with a Barra says, springs and head studs are a must
