Another step closer. Just keep plugging away and you'll get it done.
Cheers Jason, head down bum up!
@@DesignedandBuilt Exactly. At least the leader of the opposition will know where you are for the next couple of months.
😂
Looking great
Thanks John.
Best build ever mate
Ha, thanks Jack.
Made my day seeing this pop up so soon after the last one! Love it
Cheers Chris, glad you're enjoying it.
Coming together nice 👌👌
Thanks Damian!
Dude ,I've been watching all the way and you have to stop discounting yourself! I hope your planning on keeping this thing all your life . I'm 58 and proud to say I have a gu with LS3 and 6 speed . All the big bits I could afford and it goes like Mike Tyson on a supermodel. You have a future doing this for a living . I put a 307 in a troopy back in 88 with a 5 speed manual. I think it's designation was a fj47 . This was my first forby and I learnt how to 4x4 on my own ! You are what us tradies call a hands on engineer . Keep up the good work dude , I'd love to meet you for a chat one day soon .? I get my license back in 15 days , the cursed blue boys got me near on 12 months ago ( 148kms ) I still had 2 gears to go ! Dirty #####s. They don't seem to have a sense of humour any more . Fuckers ever impounded her for a month! When your baby is finished treat her well! Don't be one of these guys(that was very polite) that is constantly trying to find a challenge to hard for even a helicopter. Regards Tony (Melb Aus)
I would like to keep it for life if I can. Sounds like you have a cracking car there! Ha, damn no good about the licence. Sounds good, once it's on the road. Otherwise come and visit me at Motorex at the end of April! I promise I'll treat her well, love the helicopter analogy 🤣
Amazing you should be very proud of it
Cheers Geoff!
Loving the build. Takes me back to my youth.
Cheers Ian :)!
Great job Richard, coming together nicely. At least peace of mind with the oil pump finally done mate. Seeya Rob
Cheers Rob! Glad to get it done.
Hi Richard. I would have painted the engine block aluminium colour and the tranny the same. Looks good and shows any problems straight away. Just my 2 cents worth. Only been building fourbys for 40 years.
Thanks Ian, yeah nah, honestly a cracking idea. I got a bit ahead of myself with the black rattle can and probably should have thought about it a little more.
Powder coating that rocket cover looks phenomenal
So stoked on it, so much better than I can do with a gun!
Yes, she's looking good! I would have however, gone a lighter color on the block such as tan, orange, grey or red for a couple of reasons; you can identify oil leaks better due to contrast; you can see what you're working on under the hood better in low light and it also looks better than just plain old black. 😎
Qsk60s are all black
Besides if you can’t see it belting out on the floor then it’s not a big issue
Honestly didn't think of that at the time, just wanted something that looks mad 🤣 good idea though, perhaps I should go ally coloured on my next build!
So gooooood
🙌
Well done young man subscribed in the beginning awesome work
Thanks Gee! Cheers for your support.
Haha great minds think alike. I figured out the d shackle caper too. Think it was 7 bucks for the 3 and the puller i already had, haha. In my mind i couldnt warrant dropping 300 odd on the barra specific tool.
Looking amazing 👏
Again Richard your content is excellent hope all goes to plan and your lifting a front wheel as u select 2nd gear hope to see it one day out and about.. cheers dude
Unreal dude! Great work 🔥
Cheers Joel!
Tremendous channel and content richie! Love the barra. Best engine around. 2k barra
I looked up your Barra engine. That is some nice engine you got there! I have an OM617 80hp 5cilinder 3.0L
Cheers Victor, how does the OM617 go? Plenty of poke for a unimog?
Looks sweet 😋
Thank you!
Cannot wait
Preaching to the choir.....!
@@DesignedandBuilt it is gunna be the bomb
Respect the effort that you put into these episodes! Keep it up
Thanks Bryce, definitely makes the build go slower but totally worth it :).
Far out this things cool, been following you on Instagram for ages but only tuned in a few days ago on here to check it out better. Looks like one hell of a project and will be awesome to see it go together in the next couple of months!
Cheers Riley! Glad to see you on here :)
Mate, the progress....love it.
Cheers Brian, almost there now.
The phillips head oil pump screws are fine but have to be removed and retensioned with a hand impact driver to prevent the head tearing out.
Didn't think about timming chain and valve springs also weak points in the turbo engines. Ease up on the silicone jebus a thin bead is all you need. The amount of hydroliced cases ive come across because of silicone astounds me
First?
🥇
Quick tip, replace the water pump while the donk is out! Did you loctite the flex bolts and toque them up?
Cheers Mike, did the water pump early on and hence I masked it as I didn't want to re-gasket. yep, blue locked tited the outer ones, welded the ones on the crank!
@@DesignedandBuilt why sort of power are you chasing with this rig? Love the barra swap
@@SHOCKcustoms Nothing to crazy, a reliable 300KW at the flywheel and I'll be happy.... for now....
@@DesignedandBuilt that will be achieved very easily! What fuel pump and injectors are u running?
@@SHOCKcustoms Using the TI pump (walbro) and just have the stock injectors for now
Nicely done.
Studs don't need to be bottomed out to be tightened though!
They sure don’t! You’re 100% right
Hey Richard Absolutely loving this build and will definitely be buying plenty off parts of ya for my build. Just wondering what radiator you’re running. I can see it from terrain tamer but is just an ally 45 series radiator
I'm running a 75 series radiator!
Is there anything major you would’ve done different now you’ve had it on the road for a while?
@@DyallCustomFab Maybe extended the cab by 100mm but thats about it!
Can you still show your Ford ID at the parts shop and get a discount on the oil? Used to make it way cheaper
Certainly can!
so what ur plan use it 4wd or polish it one mud hole never be same
Use it as a 4wd!
So you have e painted a bunch of shit... hope it goes fast 😆😆😆
haha pretty much
