Tyler, you're so lucky to have Tod on your team, that front bar is coming up brilliant, I need to look at their GU options as Demi's 80 is looking so friggin good.
Only issue I see, those recovery points can't protrude, but I guess if certification occurs with them on there you'll be covered by the tirelessly efficient Mr. Plods out there.

Shifter surround you can use 3D print or use some Kydex sheet that you can mould with heat

Make a cardbord template and copy it with sheetmetal then colourcode it.
Just weld a few tabs at 90° and bolt it in place.
Or use the cardboard template to get 3d printed somewhere.
In the meantime just put some contact on the cardboard and wedge it in place for the show

Looking good TT. If you know anyone that is handy on a 3d printer they could print up a whole new cover for the gear stick surround.

3D print your gear stick infills. Just make sure to use material that can cope with the heat.

@@TylerThompson90 if most surfaces areas are flat, just getting a sheet metal shop to laser cut & bend might be an option too? I got my Unimog dash done this way.

Grab handle - why not look for a soft-style grab handle that screws back into just the one bolt to replace your OEM one. They're available online.

Go bronze for the bar work to accent the decals. I think black would not suit and just look industrial.

You missed a spot Burto, nice work on the surrounds and the buckets and brackets sand blasted, but then ya screwed in rusty mounting screws🤣 passenger kick panel is a good place for the box for the XRS.
Id rust proof the bar work and then clear coat it. looks sick as RAW. Congrats on the Tools guys, Burto deserves em, be less rusty bolts now and quicker build times haha mate, just kidding ya, awesome work as usual , dragging Tyler and Demi into the shed life, you legend Burto, just hope the 80 survives the next trip to Bunnings by Demi, we may need a poll to predict timeframes a day a week a year or 25years😛

Not a fan of white bar work but i think it would actually look better than black on this 80.

He boys, check the legalities with those pillar mounted gauges. That sidetracked Australia bloke had them on his GU and the inspector had him remove them
If they line up with the A pillar and dont reduce your field of view they are legal.

I think, remove all the decostripes, color: all white, the barwork in a signalred.
Try using penetrol on the faded plastics

Why not paint the front and rear bar the same colour as the decals on the side?
I will be honest: I mostly watch this series to see how far you can take it from "it needs a new front end". So far it's THE WHOLE front end, engine, sound dampening, right? (I haven't started watchig this one yet :))

I once enquired about getting a bar powder coated thinking that was the better option.
To my surprise they advises to get spray painted, they told me it would be more robust and easier patched up.
I then elected to go polished alloy, haha.
@@ianweal3081 that reason exactly . Once the surface gets chipped, game over . Especially on a highly volatile section of a vehicle renowned for contact and scratches happening .
